Volume containing the three volumes telling the story of Vic Brown the working-class lad from the North of England --A Kind of Loving (the novel that brought Yorkshire author Stan Barstow his initial recognition), The Watchers on the Shore, and The Right True End.
This is in my top ten books of all time. I have read the three novels that make up this trilogy seperately before but what a joy to read all at once. This is the story of Vic Brown's life from the fifties through to the early seventies and what a story. Stan Barstow brings the Yorkshire town of Cressley to life so well. The final part brings together the parts and it still brings a lump to my throat!
a kind of loving is the all time favourite book of mine i have read and re read it though it may seem in places a little dated the actual basis of the story is still very typical a story of wanting one thing and when you have it not wanting it but by then you have no choice i think this is a classic book
