Janet Bookman Baker is trying to come to terms with her father's death and a weekend long ago when he disappeared without a word. She sits alone at night watching the lights in her neighbour's garden, imagining his hands on her skin and listening to a voice on the radio. Although she has never met the owner of the voice, in Janet's mind, Anna becomes her closest friend ...Unaware of Janet's existence, Anna Taylor is facing a crisis of her own. When someone starts leaving her messages, she becomes convinced the person behind them holds the key to her past as well as her future. About the author

Bonnie Greer was an American-British playwright, novelist and critic. She was also the Chancellor of Kingston University, a university located in Kingston upon Thames, London, who lived in the UK from 1986 until her death in 2026.

Greer appeared as a panelist on television programmes such as Newsnight Review and Question Time and served on the boards of leading arts organisations, including the British Museum, the Royal Opera House and the London Film School. She was Vice President of the Shaw Society and Chancellor of Kingston University in London. She was appointed OBE in 2010 for her work in the arts, and in 2022 was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
