The pirates hired to assassinate the kidnapped Waterdeep bride are hot on their prey. Having landed on the shores of the Utter East, they face great danger--all without knowing the identity of their employer. Now, as the pirates make their way across the eastern kingdoms, fate sets them on a collision course with another interested party.

We are back following Belmer, Sharessa, and the few of the "Sharker" pirates that survived the journey to the Utter East. They are shipwrecked and have to travel through the wilds to get to the city where the sought after Bloodforge presumably resides.
As mentioned in the previous book, the areas outside of the Cities that are defended by each King and their Bloodforge are crawling with fiends attracted by the power of the Bloodforges.
Almost the entirety of this novella takes place on the journey from shore to city. The companions are harassed by monsters, and one particularly persistent and gruesome fiend (seems like a Bone Devil by description). The author does a great job making this monster creepy...maybe too good of a job.
Not a super impressive one. But the plot continues to move forward slowly.
Another chapter in the saga. I wasn't terribly impressed by the pirates when I first met them in an earlier volume. This one, however, makes up for that in a big way. Action, horror and magic slow them down. At the end, they meet the Paladins and their boss is unmasked...no, go read it and find out! All of the books in this saga are recommended.
