A short story I read for an academic writing class at university. Still working and with it as a source and getting new thing sout of it alls the time. Though short, it is one of my favourite storiey by Neil Gaiman by now.
Probably among some of my favorite Neil Gaiman short stories. I love the wacky humor of this one. I love Gaiman's style and character writing, and I liked it way more than I thought I would. The absurd nature was one of the highlights, and how amazingly ridiculous it was. Beautiful story, it makes me want to eat everything as well.
Sunbird was a story that I enjoyed more than expected. I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it at first, but I adored the way it came together. It was a strange little tale, but it had me hooked throughout. If you’re looking for a quick read, it’s well worth reading.
I found it quite peculiar but nonetheless interesting and enjoyable to read as alaways from Neil Gaiman. A short story built around the word "Epicurean". I like Gaiman's style and I would love everything he wrote. This one reminded me of one written by Nathaniel Hawthorne called"Dr. Heidegger's Experiment", it has the same vibes.
"Ah yes, I shall allow the strange man who we let hang about our epicurian club and who also regularly consumes literal fire take us on a trip to Egypt in search of a 'Sunbird' to eat." ~ The characters in this story
Really fun. Saw the twist coming but it was still rather disturbing in a fun sort of way.
This is the story of the Epicurean Club who has tasted almost every meal that can be invented or discovered. In this tale, they travel to Egypt to capture and eat the Sunbird.
Sunbird is a magnificent short story of beautifully interwoven allusions to various cultures. It is quite nice to read as it makes the reader think about the plot and character development.
''They took a small plane and then a larger plane, then a smaller plane, a blimp, a gondola, a train, a hot-air balloon and a rented Jeep.'' - travel goals
Short story from Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders and M Is for Magic. Members of the Epicurean club have eaten pretty much everything and bored, decide, to capture, cook and eat the Sunbird of Suntown, the only of its kind. An entertaining, very descriptive and thoroughly captivating story about true epicureans.
I got this book, 239 of 1000, together with the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab scent with the same name. I love BPAL, I like what I've read from Gaiman until now, so when these came up on eBay with a buy-now prize I could afford (there are advantages of living in Europe, most US based people don't look at European sales) I didn't think twice about it. The scent is wonderful, warm with some smoke. The book... it's nice. It's a short story really, only 30 pages. I would say it's not Gaiman's best story, but it's well written as was to be expected from him. A simple and nice story. The scent, I would say, is more special than the story.
A secret club is bored because they believe they have eaten everything. One of the members brings up the Sunbird. This creature is found in Cairo, Egypt is very rare and they decide to track down this bird. This one is interesting and an odd read. I eat pig, cow, and fish but the way this group is about feels so weird, despite it being considered normal to eat animals. They're quite a eclectic group and then one who suggested the bird made me nervous. I kept expecting he would have an ulterior motive.
