Rohan's such an interesting guy. He's not a bad guy, he's just a prick. But I kind of have to admire how he devoted he is to his craft. He'll eat bugs, lose friends, and hurt people if he thinks it'll improve his manga. It's as impressive as it is unhealthy. He's devoted to the point of being an abrasive asshole, but he'll also do the right thing when it really matters. Of all the former foes that go on to become allies, I'm glad Rohan was the one that gets the biggest spotlight. Aside from maybe Okuyasu, that is. Plus, his power straddles the line between awesome and freaky, with people's manga-fied faces giving off a light body horror vibe.

Josuke's backstory is very strange, especially considering it was never followed up. It really seems like that figure was supposed to be a time traveling Josuke. So was time travel always planned, but then cut? Was Killer Queen originally going to send Josuke back this far? Since this was never followed up, this mysterious figure is just another nice resident of Morioh. He selflessly tried to save someone despite having no obligation. Which is exactly what Josuke and friends go on to do. So the way things played out is far from a worst case scenario, even if there certainly was untapped potential.

Going into the hunting arc now, something stuck out to me. Like Rohan, I have to admire Araki's dedication. This is a man who will spend pages explaining how camels walk, ways to cheat when dealing cards, what separates different kinds of diapers, and the features of different species of rats. All for the sake of making his manga feel more fleshed out. Whether each individual instance lands with me or not, I have to respect the guy. It's these kind of confident, offbeat decisions that give Jojo and identity all its own.

I was glad to see Rohan show up again at the end of this volume. I was originally going to say that introducing a ghost feels too paranormal and out of place, but then I remembered that I just got done watching Jotaro fight a rat who shoots people until they become goo. Manga has a weird way of getting you to accept things as normal. Like, that's weird as hell, but I didn't think twice about it.

Memes in this volume:

You done fucked up, Rohan

YOU DONE FUCKED UP

This face is so cute :)

Josuke tries too hard to be straight part 1
Also bold of you to assume that Jotaro's straight

Josuke tries too hard to be straight part 2

Someone on Tumblr said these two pics have the same energy and I agree

Josuke tries too hard to be straight part 3

Let's just take a moment to appreciate this panel

The disappointment is palpable

ITS SO FUN AND SO CUTE and i love these cute little stories. also i mean a fucking RAT STAND??? you cant find better shit than that. and the ending of the volume REALLY starting to move the story along... is everything not what it seems in the fun and charming and somewhat ... Bizzare down of Morioh?

Unable to fight Rohan and his terrifying Stand, Koichi can only hope Josuke and Okuyasu will have a chance at catching him off-guard; soon after, Josuke joins Jotaro on a rat hunt when they learn one has gained a Stand - only to find a creature far more intelligent and ruthless hunting them in turn! Araki brings fans a tense yet fascinating entry whose pacing and twists will keep readers hooked.

Oh my God! Josuke is really adorable. How he acts like a little princess around Jotaro when searching for the rat and how he become the complete opposite with Rohan is just one of the most important reasons I enjoy part 4.

First female character I've come across that isn't a psychopath, a mom, or a love interest, so of course it gets five stars!!!
