We really enjoyed the book Opera Cat by Tess Weaver and Andréa Wesson, so when we discovered that there was a sequel by the same author-illustrator team, we were thrilled. This is another fun story about a talented feline who manages to find a way to display her talent despite the fact she is a cat. It's similar in many respects to the first tale, so I'm not sure if the story can be continued any further, but we enjoyed these two books and our girls had fun singing "opera" along with the story.

This one wasn't quite as good as the first opera cat book, but still cute. I just love the illustrations, especially the expressiveness of Alma's whiskers--curly when happy or singing, straight and hanging down when upset. I also love the picture of the auditorium filling up with opera-goers and their pets, who all wear jeweled collars or pearls or fancy bowties. Of course, it's a happy ending--the last picture says it all. What's next for Madame So-So and Alma? I hope there will be another book to tell us!

Those of us who do not otherwise care about opera were enchanted. We'll have to get the original soon.
