Found it on ebay, re-read it last night. Still love it as much as ever and the ending still makes me feel sad.
My only 'quibble', so to speak, is with the cover. I always thought those Met trains were Melbourne only ones, which is why in my memory one half of the family lived in Victoria. But no - the father is in Sydney, and Sydney is spoken of as being south of where the mother is. So why does the cover show a suburban Melbourne train? Or were the green and yellow Met stripes Australia wide?
