Topping Timothy

Rate this book

Timothy Archer spends his nights meeting men in clubs and taking them home for no strings attached sex. But lately his eyes keep lighting on Christopher Taggert, a well known dominant. Christopher is everything Timothy isn't, polished, wealthy, and controlled. Christopher also feels an attraction to Timothy, seeing in the unsophisticated younger man a reminder of the life he'd once led. He wants to show Timothy a better way, but first he has to get Timothy to agree to be his slave. Christopher never expects Timothy to actually agree and beg to serve him. But Christopher does. Together, as Top and Bottom, they travel down a path of discipline, passion, and eventually true love.  By the author of the Fictionwise bestseller, "Loving Master." Contains scenes of explicit BDSM, M/M sex, and strong language.

hot, hot, hot

Timothy is looking for something and Chris knows what it is. This book was really well done. I felt for both of the characters and the side characters helped to add understanding to both of the MC's at times when they needed it.

Timothy's soul searching seems realistic and helped bridge the gap from reluctant top to eager slave bottom.

I really liked this one even though the cover model does not appeal to me at all. LOL. I had to make up my own vision of Timothy and I liked that one a lot better. :)

Ignore the cover picture. What was that publisher thinking? The model looks miserably carsick. In fact, he looks like someone took him to a rest stop on the highway (see the BBQ pit?) and tied him to a light pole so he wouldn't toss his cookies in the car. That's sexy.

Still -- despite sloppy editing characteristic of Renaissance Ebooks, sadly -- the story was really good. The BDSM was well-done.

And the happy news that (in my ever so fertile imagination) Timothy is much cuter than the guy on the book cover!

Nice story about a man who's sure he's a Top discovering the joys of being a strong Dom's sub. Features solid writing, interesting protags, hot sex scenes and well done BDSM. However the book itself is a bit marred by a really unattractive cover.

So-so steamy m/m tale about a young man who's fascinated by a dominant older man he keeps seeing at the bar he frequents, but who's also sickened by the thought of bdsm. (And this is one of the ugliest stock photo covers I've ever seen.)

Highly enjoyable BDSM story. Yes, OK, not realistic, but lovely escapism despite the insta-sub. Very hot late-40s Dom. Ignore that ghastly cover: who is that guy?

It seems that the idea that the author has about D/s is f*ckings under commands and in her view, BDSM is a paddling if the sub comes without permission. That is all the BDSM of this story.
The only thing that prevented me from giving just one star to this book is that Timothy hesitates before returning to see Christopher after their first scene and Christopher introduces Timothy to Daniel, his old Master. But Daniel is like Chris, all he knows of D/s and BDSM is to f*ck like the Dom wants.
If you're new to BDSM, maybe you could like this story, but I didn't like it. And just a suggestion for the beginners, read Falls Chance Ranch Series instead of this book. The following books are free and are good.
Falls Chance Ranch - Book 1
Three Traders - Book 2
Mustang Hill - Book 3
Silver Bullet - Book 4

As other reviewers have stated, don't be put off by the cover. This is a really good read. Timothy doesn't think he wants to be a submissive, but Chris recognizes in him his true needs. It's not smooth sailing though, and they both make mistakes. Chris pushes too hard and Timothy is scared of his true desires. But man, when they get it worked out...very nice.

Try as I might, I just could not connect with these two characters and that was the biggest factor in my rating. The interactions felt awkward, there was barely any negotiation or real dialogue between them, and it just didn’t quite work. I love a good D/s themed book and while this one was okay, there wasn’t anything about it that will remain memorable.

Bingo challenge

Book was an introduction to the Dom and sub life for Timothy. This is the first time I read anything from this author and I will read more. I would like to know more about this couple. Not too keen on the sharing aspect, but for the most part was a good book.
