Nope

“If he didn't hurry up and get undressed, she vowed she'd rape the man.”

I don’t think so. Can’t believe the author thought this was appropriate.

What a 'goodread' by Eve Vaughn! Love the way she writes!

This was Gabe's and Julie, 'his Candy girl's story. I really enjoyed this read because of the growth of Julie in this story. Julie works for Gabe in a marketing business and is called "Candy Girl" because she fills a candy dish daily for ungrateful co-workers in their workplace. You will instantly see that Julie is being used by her co-workers for her 'treats' and her good listening skills (no judgment) and Gabe's wants to put an end to it. I was engrossed with how Gabe and Julie's lives intertwine in this IR story in the course of five months after Julie deals with her cheating boyfriend, Henry with her spiteful cousin, Corrine. I loved Rufus, Julie's dog and her best friend, Sheridan!

I highly recommend this story for readers who like vivid details in every way... literally!

5 stars!!!

P.S. "Holiday Hell" is Julie's best friend Sheridan's story.

Description: Overly nice girl, Julie Bennett discovers that Gabriel Carland, her cold boss, actually runs hot for her.

The Good: It’s always fun to see a pushover finally stand up for herself. And the sex is both playful and hot. Nice girls do!

The Bad: The story feels a bit rushed, especially when it comes to the emotional arc. After the initial seduction, Gabriel Carland isn’t given much to do or any further personal development.

The Naughty: Anal, explicit sex, graphic language, toys.

Editing issues: No

Publisher: Loose Id

Length: Novella

Final Grade: C

this was a really good read. I was a little skeptical. because of the title. "Candy Girl. I enjoyed the growth of the main character. I enjoyed her finding her voice and her courage. and the love scenes weren’t too bad either.

Title: Candy Girl (Standalone Novella)
Author: Eve Vaughn
Genre: Multicultural Contemporary Erotica / Interracial Romance
Length: Short and Sweet (108 pages)
My Rating: ★★★ (3/5 Stars) The Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 (Explicit, with all the bells and whistles, including anal play.)

Listen, I love a good glow-up story, and that’s exactly what Julie Bennett delivers. She starts as the office Candy Girl—a total pushover who lets everyone step on her just for a sugar fix. When her trash boyfriend finally hits the curb, she finds the strength to dump the doormat routine and grow a spine. That transformation? Pure gold.

Her boss, Gabriel Carland, is a hottie who’s been secretly watching the show. He steps in right when Julie needs him, and the shift from comforting boss to protective lover is immediate and intense.

What Went Down Smoothly 🥃
🥃 The Transformation is Everything: Watching Julie shed that pushover skin and become a strong, confident woman is the absolute highlight. It’s the payoff we read for.
🥃 100-Proof Passion: The connection is instant and blazing. If you want a zero-to-sixty romance with no emotional foreplay, this delivers. The explicit scenes are hot and seriously push the boundaries.
🥃 Gabe's Support: Gabe is a supportive partner who actively champions her self-worth. He doesn't want anyone—not even her awful cousin—messing with his girl.

What Made Me Side-Eye the Glass 🥃
🥃 The Blitzkrieg Romance: It’s a novella, so I expect speed, but the emotional arc felt rushed. The connection is so immediate, it leaves you wanting more evidence of a non-sexual bond. It was a lot of "slam-bam-thank-you-ma'am" before the love story truly cemented.
🥃 Character Stagnation: While Julie evolves beautifully, Gabe himself is pretty flat after the initial chase. He lacks the personal development I look for in a hero.
🥃 A Line That Jars: There’s a specific line about Julie vowing to "rape the man" if he didn't hurry up that was entirely unnecessary and inappropriate. It knocked me right out of the romance bubble.

Final Pour
Candy Girl is a quick hit of spicy empowerment wrapped in an interracial romance. It’s perfect for a fast, palate-cleansing read where you want the character growth and the heat right up front. It’s got a great concept and a fantastic heroine, but the rushed emotional plot keeps it from being truly great.

The Perfect Pairing: A quick shot of Cranberry Vodka. It hits you fast, it's sweet, but it leaves a welcome, fiery burn.

Great Story I loved it.

Julie Bennett emerges into her true self with the love of her man Gabriel Carland. He is supportive and loving and only wants her to be the best that she can be and does not want anyone pushing his girl around! :)

Nice!

It was nice to see how Julie grew into a strong confident woman with the help of her love. I enjoy each and every one of Eve Vaughn’s book. This was no different. This was a quick cute read in my opinion. I’m happy the Hero and heroine found their HEA without any crazy drama leading them to it. However I was a little disappointed the meeting of Gabe’s parents weren’t a scene in it.

My Thoughts:
This story was just "meh" at best. I didn't care for Gabriel's treatment of Julie. He seemed to only come to her for sex, IMO, but yet she let him. I like interracial romances but I often find that they are crude and trite. This story would have been passable if Gabriel and Julie actually developed a stronger non-sexual relationship before the "slam-bam-thank-you-ma'am" portion of the romance.

I'm behind on sharing the many books I've read, when receiving the opportunity. Eve Vaughn is one of my favorite authors.

This book, Candy Girl was an awesome read. The heroine was taken advantage of in the office, supplying candy to everyone who would take without giving. No one ever offered to bring candy in or to reimburse her for this act of kindness. The heroine was a person who was afraid to say no, until her boss steps in to comfort her from her boyfriend's betrayal. The two discover and act upon their chemistry, and the situation gets hotter than hell!

Anyway, I enjoy how the heroine finally summons enough strength to tell those around her "no." That means, no more supplying candy, and refusing to allow folks to pawn off their work on her. I work in an office setting, and I can relate. If you don't draw that fine line and are afraid to say no, folks will take kindness for weakness. Give them an inch, they will take a mile.

Awesome job Eve!

This has been on my TBR for a while, so I was glad that I finally got to it. This was a cute if not short romance where I loved seeing the heroine grow because frankly she was way too meek for me to like in the beginning. The story had a little bit of a cinderella feel to it complete with the HEA.

I was wondering though if Julie's friend Sheridan would get a story. It seemed like there were hints of Sheridan having a similar situation with her boss although it seemed as if she was fighting it tooth and nail. I'll have to go searching for that!

All About The Sex

I normally enjoy Ms Vaughn's writing, but I guess I'm looking for a true romance that was not in this story. Julie and Gabe were about the.sex...and throw in a mean hearted jealous cousin and an easily manipulated heroine and boss that has the Hots for his employee. That's it. Nothing more.

I like this sweet story

I love this sweet story of Julie finding her voice. She been through alot but she still love and gave when life gave her lemons. Her family was a trip well her cousin was by taken advantage of her kindness when she have been thankful that Julie let her stay in her home but her cousin sleeping with her man in her bed. Now that would have been a coming to Jesus moment for her for Julie should have drag her by her weave out her home and kick old boy out that moment an burn the mattress. But it is ok because she found love in the last place she expected right front of her face. A good one that help her be her She-ra. You know why i said She-ra because she was always nice but when she got her power boy was it on!

Sweet love story

I liked this love story. Gabe & Julie had an attraction from the beginning but didn’t have a clue both thought there was disdain between them. Julie was a shy little pushover, but all it takes is for one situation to bring one to that breaking point and all hell can break loose. Thankfully it didn’t go that far for her, but it was the true love and support from someone to make a better and stronger version of herself and help her bring out the lioness she was destined to be. Glad she taught that trifling cousin a lesson. Her best friend Sheridan is something else can’t wait to read her story in HOLIDAY HELL. 😁😁

Loved it!

This was sweet and sexy and fun. It might have taken being smacked in the face with something ugly, for Julie to get it together, but it did the job. With the help of her very sexy boss, her life started to turn in the right direction. Seeing his Candy Girl come out of her shell and be the strong woman he knew she could be made Gabe want her even more than he thought possible. Fantastic, steamy read and I loved every page.

This was a very nice and light read. Short, kinda insta-lusty but it actually worked.
Made you care about the characters and the main character evolved towards the end of the book.

Recommended for people who would like a light, short, love (others and self) story.

Candy Girl

Wow. I didn’t realize at first this was Julie, Sheridan’s friend’s story. I loved it as much as Sheridan’s. Gabe is just as hot and loving as Brady was in other story. So happy for both. Loved this story.

Short, brief and straight to the point! No unnecessary drama or angst. Simply an erotic novel with a nice plot.
Candy girl was insecure and quite a pushover at first. But Gabe helped her be more confident and stand for herself, while delivering great sex lool, that was a win!

Dissapointed

A good story but alas in my opinion much too racy. I felt it was more focused on the racy bits with a bit of story thrown in which was a shame because it was a good story just needed to be put together differently in my opinion.

Spicy story about finding yourself

A bit brief but Julie is shy and overly helpful . When she’s betrayed by those closest to her she decides it’s time for a change at work and home including her “bully”, (Not really) boss.
