Angelo Marquetti — Angel to his friends. He was just coming off a long undercover assignment and wanted nothing more than a hot shower, a cold beer and a comfortable bed. But one scream of terror changed all of that and Angel ended up with so much more.Cara Michaels was on top of a table dressed in nothing but a damp towel when he kicked in the door and came to her rescue. He was every erotic fantasy that she could think of, all rolled into one. And Cara was more than ready to indulge her inner vixen. Cara was ready for anything and her merciful Angel was willing to give her a glimpse at just how erotic it could be.
Lacey Thorn spends her days in small town Indiana the proud mother of three. When she is not busy with one of them she can be found typing away on her computer keyboard or burying her nose in a good book. Like every woman she knows just how chaotic life can be and how appealing that great escape can look. So toss aside the stress and tension of the never ending to do list.
Utterly preposterous but smutastically raunchy just the same. This EC 'Quickie" gives you a good idea of how the author can write a sex scene, complete with nasty, raunchy talk from the dominating, cock-sure (no pun intended about the overly endowed hero) 'Angel', and simpering responses from our blonde, buxom, afraid-of-spiders bimbette, Cara; but is there a plot? Nah. Not that I was expecting one. All I knew about the H/h is that he was a detective working undercover for months, fresh from a 30 hour stake out, heading to his apartment and incredibly horny after 'doing without' for six months. She was a blonde, 5'4", size 10, D-cup who's terrified of spiders. She screams bloody murder when she sees a spider, jumps on the table clad only in a towel. He kicks in her door, gun at the ready, thinking a crime's being committed. One look at her, one look at him, and thoughts of spiders fly out the window. He issues some raunchy commands that get her all hot and bothered, the towel comes off, and away we go...30 pages of various sexcapades ensue. If I knew enough about these two to care one whit about them, say, if this 30 page scene was dropped into the middle of a well thought out erotic romance, we might have had something here. I've read other books by Lacey Thorn, and they are surprisingly good 'guilty pleasures'. However, this one was waaay too short on the details, but tried to make up for it with the every-which-way-you-can sex. The balance just wasn't there. But if you want a fair indication of how the author writes a sex scene, this 'quickie' delivers.

And that's basically the whole extent of this quickie. What follows is a long, scorching hot sex scene with a light BDSM vibe, which isn't really my cuppa so I couldn't enjoy this story as much as I wanted. I didn't connect with Angelo and Cara, and I didn't buy the HEA. That's bad, considering how lenient I am when it comes to quickies. I mean, no one expects an intriguing plot or any character development in this kind of story, right?
This story is strictly an adult fantasy. The hero saves the damsel in distress and is rewarded with the fulfillment of erotic fantasy. Ms Thorn pinned a winner. While the characters are not exactly well developed we have enough to make the story flow. But this story wasn't about the characters but about the sexual fantasy. The development of the sexual fantasy was over the top but with just enough reality for the reader to imagine that it could happen in real life. I have to give this story four stars for making me believe the fantasy.
Don't read it for plot or romance. Cop comes home from work hears a scream from across the hall and finds half-naked woman standing on the table screaming about a spider. They immediately get down and dirty and over the next few hours have marathon sex and around 8 orgasms each. And decide they could really fall in love with one another. The End. Seriously that's the book. The sex was totally hot.
Hot and sexy with a ending leaving you wanting more of these two.
Hearing a scream from across the hall Detective Angelo goes running and kicks in the door. He finds a basically naked Cara freaking out. The next few hours a hot, steamy, dominate sex surprises these two, and makes it more than a one night stand for both of them.
This book is pure romantica/erotica. There is some story but mostly wham-bam-thank you-m'am sex. If you are looking for something hot with little story this is great! Nothing like a alpha male taking charge .
I love Ellora's Cave Quickies and this one is probably one of the hotter one's I've read. The sex is totally steamy and I loved the dynamics between the two characters, the way he brought out the 'bad girl' in her. I haven't read the second one yet but I plan on it.
