It’s the Fourth of July and the last thing Brad wants to do is attend leadership school over the holiday. How could the Army think it was a good idea to schedule training in Georgia in July? When his roommate Joe suggests they go see the fireworks and they run into Mary Jo, Joe’s first love there, Brad soon realizes things are only going to get a whole lot hotter. Especially once he discovers that Joe likes to share.

It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
Two hot and horny Army buddies (southerner Joe and Yankee Brad) stationed at Fort Benning on July 4th for training decide to catch the fireworks display. When Joe spots a place to sit in the park by a pretty, girl-next-door red-headed woman, he reminisces with Brad about his first love (red-headed, big and curvy Mary Jo) from 15 years ago, the one who was devastated when he joined the Army and the one who spoiled him for all other women. As Joe strikes up a conversation with the slim redhead, it takes him a while but he realizes there's something vaguely familiar about her...
How to rate a book that's only 14 pages long? I just asked myself the question "Would I continue reading if it was longer?" And the answer is yes! This was like a hot little opening chapter of a novella, and somehow CJ managed to give an inkling of Joe and Brad's characters, (but sadly, not much of Mary Jo's--except she's one uninhibited girl) and work in a ménage scene. This story was a bit of a tease, but what can I say, it was free so I won't complain.:)
So this is a really short read but I love Cat Johnson and her writing, so this tale worked for me. When Brad and Joe meet Mary Jo, its attraction at first sight. When Joe realises it's his ex, the simmering sparks explode. Brad leaves Joe and Mary-Jo alone to "catch up"- they appear back at the barracks and Brad thinks he is in for a long night of a painful erection, listening to the two of them having sex. When they invite him into their bed, he can't quite believe his ears!
This is a sweet menage. Brad is the main POV of the story, so his character is more fully fleshed out than any of the others. I would have loved this to be a longer read (it's like 15 pages!)....I didn't really learn much about MJ apart from she really doesn't mind sharing her bed with more than one man! The one thing that made this nice was it felt like a begining for the three of them, that this was a 4th of July tradition that would continue:D If you haven't read any Cat Johnson before this is a nice little introduction....grab it, its free and hot!
m/f/m menage. short story . joe and brad are in the army. joe confesses to brad as to why he likes redheads. at forth of july celebrations they meet MJ. but who is this MJ. and yes of course i had to read this on the forth of july.
Another quickie. This short story is well written with plenty of steam. Two hot and horny Army buddies stationed at Fort Benning on the Fourth of July run into an ex-girlfriend of one. One thing leads to another, as they always do.
This one was fun even though it was short. I liked how Joe, remembering his first girl, then runs into her again years later. Fireworks happen again between then and Bill learns his friend likes to share.
Cat Johnson is a really good writer but this one though short, sweet and to the point was really kind of stupid. How ever I think that if she went back and rewrote it making it longer and added more substance to it the book would be amazing.
Cute, freebie short story about a guy who runs into his old girlfriend from 15 years ago and it all turns into a menage with the best buddy joining in...
