Bailey is 28 years old. She's single, she's bisexual, and after stumbling into the wrong club on the right Friday night, she thinks she might be kinky too. Immediately entranced by the sights around her—including the gorgeous and commanding Domme, Isabelle—Bailey wonders if there's a side of life she's been missing. Isabelle is still reeling from a traumatic break up with her old submissive that's left her questioning the things that used to mean the most to her. She's relegated herself to casual companionship with no chance of feelings, all in the hopes of repairing her heart. When she meets Bailey—eager, new, and beautiful, Bailey—Isabelle realizes she doesn't stand a chance. It doesn't take long for Isabelle to learn that Bailey's bright eyed curiosity might be exactly what she needs to heal from her past, and it doesn't take Bailey long to learn that her new favorite place might be on her knees. But are great chemistry and hot scenes enough to leave a lasting impact on both women or are their days numbered from the start?

---

Impact is a steamy romance between two bisexual women who share an interest in power exchange, consent, and pleasure.

4.5 “Be a good girl” stars

Bailey loved when I ordered food for her, when I picked her wine. She liked to sit at my feet sometimes while we watched movies, and other times she liked to lay her head in my lap and force me to play with her hair until she fell asleep.
Loving Bailey was not a hardship.
Neither was hurting her.

I just…. Damn. This. Book.

If someone wants to come pick my jaw off the floor after I read the sex scenes in this book, it would be really appreciated, because i’m just not over how good the sex scenes in this book were.

I have often said that all that was missing from my life was a kinky FF book that would hit all of my buttons and I just want to say thank you to this author for making all of my wildest dreams come true.

When this author (which also writes MM books under the name Kate Hawthorne) announced that she was coming out with a kinky FF book, I was waiting the release of the book and it instantly became one of my most anticipated releases of the entire year. This author is one of my favourite when it comes to writing kink and safe to say that this book lived up to all of my expectations.

A kinky FF romance book with a lot of steamy scenes is pretty much everything I have ever wanted in my life. I’m pretty sure this exact book was the one thing that was missing from my life. This book was just everything I wanted it to be and I just adored it, so much.

Also can we talk about this cover?? It’s just so good!

Brief summary
Bailey accidently stumbles into a kink club one day. But she sees Isabelle, a gorgeous domme, and she realizes that she might be into kink too. They start exploring kink together and then they fall in love.

I absolutely loved the story in this book. I loved how a lot of it was about the kink exploration. That was just everything I like to read about in a book and I really enjoyed how it was done in this book. And I really enjoyed the romance in this book, too. I liked how their romance slowly and organically developed over the course of their different interactions. It felt super realistic and I really enjoyed that. I also really loved how they didn’t really try to fight their attraction to each other and instead learnt to make a great relationship out of it.

Also, I really enjoy both characters in this one. I loved Bailey and how eager she was to try new things and how sweet she was. And I loved Isabelle, and how confident in herself she was and how she was super commending but also really nice. They just made such a good couple and I thought that they were perfect for each other.

The sex scenes in this book. I’m not sure how to explain how much I loved them except to say that I was drolling while I read them. I’m pretty sure that someone will have to scrape my tongue off the floor due to how these sex scenes made me feel. This book was just so hot. This book had some of if not, the best sex scenes I have ever read.

Also, the kink in this book. It was so fucking good. I love all of the different kinks explored in this book, like orgasm control, spanking, body worship and a dom/sub relationship. And the way that each and every scene was written was just so masterful. I just could not have asked for anything more up my speed, the sex scenes in this book were just everything I wanted them to be.

Also, I just want to mention how much I appreciated the fact that Bailey is bi. And how her being bi was shown in the book. As a fellow bisexual, I always love when I can actually relate to main characters and their life experiences and it really was the case in this book.

I just enjoyed reading this book, so much. It felt like it was fulfilling a want for books that I never had filled before and it was the perfect book to fill that void in my life. I am so excited for the next book in this series. Just the little teasers for it in this book made it that I just cannot wait to read it.

I received an arc of this book and this is my honest opinion

I think this book somehow made me gayer.

I’ve read some pretty spicy shit but HOLY CRAP. This book grabbed me by the throat and I felt like I should thank it.

If you’re looking for sapphic, WLW BDSM content this is probably for you (will list kinks in TW’s below)

My god it was hot, idk hydrate before reading this or you may pass out. I read this in Englands heatwave which was a CHOICE.

It focuses on Bailey who is a sub completely new to the scene and Isi who is an experienced dom, but who suffers with trauma after a past emotionally abusive relationship.

MC’s are bi (w) and sapphic (w) main relationship featured is between two women, Isi and Bailey (both femme from what I could tell), there’s also poly, gay and bi SC rep also which is awesome to see.

TW’s listed below, skip if you don’t want vague spoilers.

Tw// CW// mention of emotionally abusive ex and vague trauma surrounding it, biphobia, bdsm: spanking, anal play, bondage, collar/lead play, dom/sub relationship, body worship incl vague foot fetish, public orgasm with toy use, praise kink, orgasm denial, overstimulation, use of restraints, use of toys (all consented to and safely done)

hot hot hot!

I have not had the best track record with FF books… many times it’s obvious the author has a lot of internal misogyny and one or both women are written a bit problematically. Or it’s obvious the author doesn’t know their way around a woman’s body. This is not the case here, and it was so refreshing. This book is heavy on the kink and sex, a little lighter on the relationship development but I still enjoyed it from beginning to end. If you’re new to FF I highly recommend this one.

MC Bailey & Isabelle

This book was omg spicy 🌶 hot! Bailey walks into the wrong club and discovers some new interests. She meets Isabelle, a dominatrix at the club.

The book does have BDSM in it but, the heart of the story, is about two woman who wanted love. To find someone who would treat them with respect and kindness. The story is deeper then just the kink.

Athena was a pleasant surprise. She only wanted to see Isabelle happy again. She also wanted her to let go of the past. Find her spirit again. Isabelle wanted to take it slow, make sure Bailey was okay with everything she wanted to show her.

The Author does a great job explaining why Isa was nervous about a new relationship. Bailey wanted Isa to own her and that scared Isa.

I felt like the story was a pleasant surprise. It’s so much more the just BDSM story. It’s a story about overcoming low self esteem and not allowing the opinions of other people to impact your choices.

What just happened?!?!? That’s how the book ends….. I will definitely be waiting for book two. This was my first book by the author definitely not my last! 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! If you like a hot book with elements of tenderness and kindness, this is the book for you!

i've had this hot little number on my TBR for quite awhile, finally glad i read it! i've sure missed rom-dommes!

bailey experiences her kinky awakening after inadvertently visiting a BDSM club, seeing the gorgeous Isabelle work over another woman. When Isabelle and Bailey connect, their chemistry is instant, even if Bailey is leery to open her heart to a newbie.

steamy, fun, the pacing felt really rushed at the end but I would absolutely read more.

Pride Month reading 🏳️‍🌈

I wasn't planning on reading this book, actually. Play has been on my TBR for a long time, but it wasn't as appealing to me at the moment, then I stumbled upon this book and it picked my interest.

It was more slow-paced than I had imagined for a novella. But that's not a bad thing, not for me at least, it allowed a great build-up. It is also a lot cuter, even the BDSM bits of it. And I loved how feminine they both are. It's not something we usually see in FF romance, not those I've come across at least.

I was proud of Bailey for cutting off her bi-phobic "friends". Despite those, there are great side characters in this book, especially Athena. She's a good nosy friend, the kind that truly has your best interests at heart.

Speaking of Athena, it was nice to get a glimpse of an open relationship (it's not between the main couple), it was actually what had put me off from the other book in the first place, but I think I could go with it now. Especially after that ending 👀

I really enjoyed the story. Despite dealing with some serious themes like bi-phobia and abusive relationship, it was overall a light-hearted story. I wish it was longer, though. I'd want to see more of Bailey and Isa's development as a couple before that final chapter, which wasn't marked as an epilogue, but it served as one.

IMPACT was a very sexy read and I loved getting to know Bailey and Isa as they navigate their relationship and Bailey's first time exploring kink. Bailey is meeting some friends at a club but she goes to the wrong address and finds herself at a BDSM club instead. While Bailey knows she's bisexual and has been with both men and women she's never considered herself kinky. But after seeing a spanking scene with Isa and a submissive, Bailey discovers a whole new side of herself.

Both women were nice, genuine, and not afraid to ask for what they wanted. I also enjoyed the side characters like Athena and her partners and I'm glad Bailey started to build a friendship with them as well as Isa. I enjoyed the kink but I would have liked a little more discussion about safewords and BDSM relationships once things shifted into a more formal D/s partnership. After some initial conversations about what they each want they never really discuss it again and this seemed odd considering Bailey is completely new to kink and still learning how to practice it safely.

Content Warning: past abusive relationship; biphobic comments directed at the MCs

Markham is a “new” author, but I am already familiar with their work in a different area of the romance genre under another pen name. I may have been predisposed toward the writing, even if this is the first F/F novel I’ve read, but it more than lived up to my expectations – in fact, it blew them away. Bailey and Isa are not simply gender-bent versions of characters typical to Markham’s other novels. This author truly understands the myriad ways that women differ from men, including how they often react and relate to other people.

Though I understand why it is such a popular trope, the newbie sub getting inducted into the kink lifestyle by the experienced Dom (or Domme) is not all that attractive to me as a reader (an entirely subjective opinion). However, once again I know that Markham is always one to break expectations in the most interesting ways, so I looked forward to how that would happen here. The circumstances in which Bailey and Isa first meet may have been completely accidental, but everything beyond that is all within Bailey’s confident power. Instead of Isa inducting the “natural” submissive into their relationship, Bailey does her research and knows her interests. She wants Isa to help her find out whether things are actual preferences beyond the mental appeal. Conversely, a past relationship has shaken Isa. Not to her core, because she is still sure of her wants and needs, but she carries a genuine fear that Bailey will use her for that academic curiosity and then move on. Her fragile confidence underlies the way she handles her attraction to Bailey with her fear of getting too close.

Though I find a nervous dominant character to be adorable, I felt so much for Isa and her genuine worries. Concern that the person you are dating will find someone better is a relatively standard relationship woe. The intimacy that develops so quickly when power exchange and kink are added to a relationship adds an interesting twist to the arc of Isa and Bailey’s romance in which one person is new but trying to get close, and the other is experienced and doing her best to avoid investment.

Bailey does not “heal” Isa, but Isa’s desire for Bailey eventually outweighs her fears so that she begins to better reconcile her past with her present. At the same time, Bailey faces personal conflict when her friend group is not as supportive of her new relationship as she deserves. Markham does an excellent job of portraying how the loss of a friend or friend group can be just as difficult as any other sort of breakup, which is often an experience specific to women. In terms of conflict between Bailey and Isa, Markham also does not shy away from the essential conversation about how power exchange can hit differently for American women socialized to be “strong and independent.”

This will probably never be my go-to subgenre when reading romance. However, I’ve been reading everything by this author’s other pen name for a few years now, and I see myself continuing this trend for this name as well. Markham brings such a unique twist to standard genre elements that I always look forward to seeing what story they tell next. (And I’m definitely hooked on the subtle cliffhanger regarding secondary characters included in the final paragraphs of this book.)

“You don’t have to know what to do with them,” I said. “You just have to do what you’re told.”

3.5 stars. Really fun, sexy f/f bdsm romance. It wasn't the best thing I've ever read, but I think I read it at just the right time, because it definitely made me smile. Bailey is supposed to meet up with her friends for drinks, and mistakenly walks into the wrong club, where she sees the statuesque and commanding Isa. Isa is reeling from the end of a bad relationship, and isn't sure she wants to start something new, but Bailey is everything she looks for in a girlfriend/sub. Their relationship starts off casually and develops into more. For something that didn't have a whole lot of plot, I really enjoyed this? I was irresistibly drawn to both characters, they had great chemistry and cute banter, and it was really hot. Even though things moved a bit faster than I'd like, I appreciated that they didn't neglect to have certain conversations with one another.

I just had a really good time with this; I look forward to moving on if this becomes a series.

Leave it to Kate (or Nikki Markham in this case) to pop my FF romance cherry. That’s what happens when you love an author enough to follow them where ever they want to take you. And the writing of this one was pretty spectacular.

I would rate this at about 10 hot tamales out of 5. Spicy and kinky and a really great story of self-discovery and trust. These two have such a great connection and really I enjoy a new sub dynamic, I love the learning and exploration. I also like that despite the power dynamic they both help each other to love and accept themselves as much as they love each other. They were sweet and hot in equal measure.

I’m not sure FF will ever be a genre I read much of but I'll definitely continue to read whatever Markham writes.

i loved bailey and isa so muchhh. this was a spicy read but it balanced out with both of them being so cute together. i really liked the way the FMCs explore their relationship, bailey learning new things to do with isa and isa learning to let herself be loved by bailey. they work perfectly for each other!

i also have to say i loved their friends and how they act when they're all together. Athena has my heart and i would really like to read about her.

“You’re beautiful,” she said softly, withdrawing her hand and using steady fingers to settle my ruined underwear back into place. “Always, but especially while you’re coming on my fingers.”
“You can’t…can’t say things like that to a girl.”

I picked this book up cuz Florence's amazing review caught my eye. Best decision ever. ✨

It's a kinky FF contemporary romance. And by kinky, I mean... bondage, domination, spanking and body worship (showing respect and love by kissing feet)🔥👄💀😈. It was fucking hotter than hell. The steam in this book was absolute fire and I found myself taking shallow breaths during two particular scenes because I was so damn turned on. 🔥My first exclusive FF and I am so happy it was this book😍

“What’s a girl gotta do to find out what it’s like to kiss your feet?”

Bailey was cute and bubbly and unexpectedly brave when it came to life and decisions. I LOVED the scene where she set firm boundaries and even cut things off when her friends tried to shame her for being bisexual....cuz fuck homo/bi-phobics.

Isabelle on the other hand, was a delicious domme but also so vulnerable towards and in her love life. I wanted to hug her and then ask her to spank me lol. It was good to see how to fell for Bailey despite her bad past experiences and trust issues and then working on overcoming them. ♥️

The story was soft and sweet (contemporary romance, like I mentioned) which was why I deducted a star...because my expectations for toxic or even slightly dark are always high. But that's not on the book and my personal issue.

If you want some very sizzling chemistry, hot and sexy FF kink scenes and a good story , I'd most def recommend this. It was a very enjoyable experience ❣️✨

“What are you waiting for?” I rasped, fingers still pressing into her cheekbones.
“For you to tell me what to do.”
I barely heard her. “Bailey.”
“Make the demand of me,” she said, her body swaying closer to mine.
“Kiss me.”

LISTEN

I threw this book on my list months ago and forgot all about it until yesterday and now it has taken over my life. If you were on the hunt for nasty fucky sapphics, look no further.

It's right time, wrong place for Bailey when she accidentally wanders into a kink club on her way to meet her friends. But now that she's here... it's hard to tear her eyes away from the domme on stage. She makes Bailey want... a lot of things.

Isabelle isn't looking for anything or anyone. She enjoys playing on stage with regular sub, hanging out with her polyam friends, and she's almost definitely over her ex. A new baby sub just looking to experiment isn't what she needs right now.

Fortunately for them, they're in a romance novel and can get exactly what they both need, with the help of some meddling friends. Which is lots and lots of fantastic kinky sex. It admittedly moves pretty quickly, and they're going full tilt perhaps a wee bit faster than someone totally new to kink should be, but it's fully consensual and very thoughtfully written.

If there's anything I didn't totally love, it's that the book is a little cis-centric. Bailey is constantly thinking 'men are like this, and women are like that' and I find that boring and irritating. But it's pretty minor and didn't bother me too much. Also I would have loved more aftercare. They keep falling asleep straight after, but I want to see them tending to those bruises!! I like caretaking and cuddling and just hanging out before and after the sex, so I wish it had more of that.

I think I got them all, but I could have missed a few..

She looked like someone I could fall in love with. Someone I should fall in love with.

Do you ever read a book that sounds perfect on paper and actually gives on its execution yet still feel like something is missing? That is exactly how I feel about Impact. I ate this book up fast and loved it but I was so disconnected to the characters that I was skimming toward the end. Honestly, this is a novella. There isn’t that much time to build the characters up since the obvious focus is on the spice. And that’s okay!! I loved this book for what it was, I just apparently need more plot and character development shown on page to enjoy spice.

Still, I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for some high quality wlw 🌶 some of the scenes had me blushing and setting my phone down because it was written excellently.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

Impact is the debut book from Nikki Markham, an alternate pen name for author Kate Hawthorne writing in the F/F genre. There is a lot to like here with Bailey and Isabelle immediately being characters I wanted to learn more about.

Bailey has an active social life with a group of friends and she’s openly bisexual. She hasn’t ever been exposed to the type of kink that she sees from Isabelle at the club and she knows she wants more and she knows she wants Isabelle. Isabelle’s friend, Athena, immediately recognizes that Bailey would be great for Isabelle and sets out to make that happen.

Isa isn’t sure she trusts her instincts anymore when it comes to love. When her best friend Athena, (I love that she plays a pivotal role in this book!♥️♥️) , introduces Bailey to her she’s not sure how to act.

Bailey knows what she wants but she’s unsure how to get it. Isa and Bailey have great chemistry and I loved their dynamic. As Bailey explores her kinks, Isa begins to realize Bailey is her perfect match. Hot!

Side characters you will recognize pop up in the story and I loved that.

I’m super curious about book 2 already! I’m definitely looking forward to how this series will play out.

Quite incredible

This was recommended to me by a good friend and I'm so glad she did. It's easily one of the best kink/BDSM based sapphic romances I have read in years.

It's short and sweet but has a lot of heart and really does an amazing job of making you fall for the characters while immensely enjoying the ways that they play.

I honestly cannot wait to see what else might come from Ms. Markham and I can tell you that I'm looking forward to whatever else does.
