Carol Marinelli was born in England to Scottish parents, then emigrated to Australia, where there are loads of Scottish and English people who did exactly the same, so she’s very at home there.
She lives in the outer suburbs of Melbourne—pretty much in her car, driving her three children to their various commitments.
Carol writes for the Harlequin Presents and Medical lines and she also writes contemporary women's fiction (with a dark twist). When she's not writing she's reading, when she's not reading she's writing.
When Prince Benito Fortesque of Contarini pays a visit to the island of Niroli, palace maid Alisa Moretti is assigned to the role of his housekeeper. Orphaned as a teen and left to care for her younger sister, Alisa desperately needs this job to make ends meet and pay for an education that will lead to a better life. But her employment is quickly at risk thanks to her outspoken nature—and her dangerous attraction to the playboy prince!
ok, i really liked it! she was funny and fiery, and he was HOT HOT HOT!!! :)
This is a novella really and it's too short to be good. The plot and the characters had potential, but not enough time to work. Benito starts out as an ass, but he improves as he realizes his shortcomings, but it happens way too fast. And Alisa...he's a complete asshole to her but all she can focus on is how much she wants to have sex with him. And while he's being a self-centered, vain and wealthy ass, she suddenly decides she's in love with him, but I can't for the life of me figure out why. They haven't spent any quality time together, barely had a conversation and had one not quite finished sex session. Speaking of which, the sex sessions work like they're on fast forward. They're kissing and then suddenly he's thrusting away and I'm trying to figure out when the clothes came off. If the scene length is a concern, perhaps a fade to black would be better...at least I wouldn't be so confused. This probably would have been a good story if it had been full-length.
