Ben Aaronovitch's career started with a bang writing for Doctor Who, subsided in the middle and then, as is traditional, a third act resurgence with the bestselling Rivers of London series.

Born and raised in London he says that he'll leave his home when they prise his city out of his cold dead fingers.

Aaawww, now this was very cute and sweet (without being too cavity-inducing).

We're back with some of our favorite characters from the Rivers of London series. Originally published for V-day back in 2016, it has everyone dreaming about what and who they love and desire the most - what could possibly go wrong when magic-users do that, right?! ;D

It's not so much a story as a sequence of what the characters are actually dreaming of - wrapped up in a wonderfully poetical description of London by night.

"Night chases the naughty hen parties around the wicked West End and whips the memories of sheep and ducks down the Caledonian Road. It rides with spinning lightbars on the roofs of police cars and ambulances. It broadcasts sleep from the tip top of Alexandra Palace and scores runs at the Oval. Night noiselessly fires the big guns outside Bedlam and is answered by a silent salute from HMS Belfast."

Now this is what I've been wanting the moments to be! Lovely descriptions of London at night and a tiny glimpse into the minds of the characters during one night of dreaming. Doesn't advance the story in any way, but adds a little color.

A cute little snippet available on the author's website. Charming and insubstantial like the dream story it is.

A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you're fast asleep. Aaronovitch takes us into the mind of the slumbering denizens of The Rivers of London series.
