This book is well written and ended up not being just an entertaining time pass but whole lot more. I never knew how little I know! My daughter knew more than me. I feel this is a must to entertain guests at a party. The author has done an excellent job with explanations. It was informative and an eye opener for me as I am not so much in touch with the world around me. My husband loved the serial killer parts in profusion! It worried me for a minute. Lol!
This is highly recommended by me to lovers of trivia and mystery. It will look especially good on your bookshelf. Get the hint! ;)
This is an awesome trivia quiz book about true crime. It almost sounds weird to say how excited I was to be able to read this and host a trivia night. Love that there are 350 questions that fall into seven chapters; unsolved murders, serial killers, podcasts, celebrities, heists, facts, and grab bag. Some of these questions will be easy for true crime fans, but there's a few in there that can stump you. Love learning some new things. Definitely recommend for true crime fans!
Best researched book I have ever read!! As a true Crime buff I was riveted. I finished the book in two sittings. I was surprised at how much knowledge I knew and astounded at how much I really did not know. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I learned quite a bit from this book. In some chapters, I did very well on the quizzes; in others, not so much. Since I don't watch television or follow bloggers or podcasts, I am sadly ignorant in those areas.
This is truly a book for true crime fans, to see how much you know or don't know about serial killers and related topics.
True Crime Trivia: 350 Questions & Answers to Quiz Yourself and Challenge Your Friends by Michelle Tooker is a very highly recommended trivia book that is perfect for a game night. We undertook the challenge with a mixed group of true crime fans and others up for the quiz. More on that later.
The book is organized into seven chapters on the following topics: Unsolved Mysteries & Cold Cases, Serial Killers, Podcasts, Celebrity Crimes, Heists & Robberies, Facts & Figures, and a Grab Bag for a total of 350 questions. Each of the questions is multiple choice or true or false. Each chapter is followed by a separate/corresponding chapter with the correct answer and a paragraph of additional information about the case or topic involved. The organization of the book makes it very easy to use this for a trivia game night. At the end of the book the sources for each chapter question are listed for those who want to look it up.
You can follow each chapter straight through, or pick and choose from various chapters. This book has the content for multiple game nights, or at least with the group I had gathered together. There were plenty of additional discussions about a topic after the answer was revealed. You can also sign up for the VIP readers group and get a link to a printable scorecard as well as a bonus chapter on cults.
We ended up starting at the beginning and then soon started jumping to different chapters, sampling questions from several. We did not have time to sample questions from every chapter. The group decided to not use the score cards this time, however we are planning to do this again and may use them then. Honestly, we hardly made a dent in all the questions presented in each chapter we sampled and had an enjoyable evening tackling the questions that we did.
You would have thought that the true crime fans had an advantage, but those who follow or pay attention the news also did well. (We did by-pass the podcast chapter, which would have given the true crime fans an advantage.) The discussions prompted by many questions were fun and lively. I'm looking forward to several other trivia nights with True Crime Trivia and tackling the additional chapter on cults.
Are you interested in true crime facts? This book is full of interesting tidbits of information about a plethora of topics. It is organized into seven chapters - Unsolved mysteries and cold cases, serial killers, true crime podcasts, celebrity crimes, heists and robberies, facts and pictures, and grab bag. Each chapter is divided into two sections - a multiple choice quiz and then an answers with explanations section. It is clearly researched and not just fan-facts, but it doesn’t bog you down in all of the minutiae of the story. It gives just enough information to be interesting to the trivia junky and true crime fanatic.
This is my second book from this author, and it doesn’t disappoint. My kids enjoyed the multiple choice aspect of the book, but I did have to pick and choose what I asked them as not all of the information is kid appropriate. I loved the historical aspects of the book, and many of the facts make me want to research the stories even further. I personally enjoyed reading through it just using the answers section, instead of flipping back and forth. My husband, however, liked quizzing himself and then seeing if he was correct. This book is a perfect gift for fans of trivia and true crime.
This is a great book for hosting a crime trivia night. It is broken down into different sections with questions and answers readily available: Unsolved Mysteries and Cold Cases, Serial Killers, Podcasts, Celebrity Crimes, Heists & Robberies, Facts &Figures and Grab Bag. In Section 1 I only got 8 wrong in 50 questions which I thought was pretty good. You can test yourself and friends with this easy to use book plus learn a lot from all the great information. I am now going to read about The Moor Murders and The Hagley Moor Murders as I don't know much about them. If you like easy to read crime trivia books then you will love this book. I would like to thank the author and Beguile Media for a book for an honest review.
This is an unusual arrangement for those interested in true crime. It is trivia questions arranged by types of crimes and by podcast involvement. They first offer the questions as multiple choice questions only with a button for each to take you to the answer and brief description about the crime. Or, you can choose to go to a section with the questions and answers. Same questions, same answers just no need to hop back and forth. The distinction is that you can enjoy trying to guess the answers by yourself or if you want to do it more like a game with your friends.
My disappointment lies in the brief descriptions. They were mostly one paragraph and didn't provide much information.
Here is a fun book for true crime aficionados like myself. I do not listen to true crime podcasts but I am a constant reader(500+books) of the popular genre. Ms. Tooker has done her homework and reaches deep into this morbid and fascinating world with facts, figures and details of numerous crimes. I read through the podcast chapter but skipped the quiz portion. Of the three hundred remaining sections, I scored 185-300, doing best on serial killers(41-50). Most were of famous men such as Ted Bundy, but a few were more obscure. I recommend True Crime Trivia as a source of interesting trivia for those of my fellow fans of the true dark nature of humanity.
This book is exactly what it says it is: a collection of pieces of trivia about true crime. It covers a wide range of topics and time periods. Many of these cases I had heard about before, but there were also many that were new to me. I wasn't expecting the trivia game format, though, and it annoyed me how often there were options like "all of the above" or "both A and C." A good quiz won't have those.
All in all, it a quick and interesting read. If you're into podcasts, there is a chapter that will pique your interest in a broad variety of them.
Filled with 350 true crime trivia questions and answers about lesser and well known cases. Chapters cover different topics, including serial killers, heists, celebrity crimes, podcasts, cold cases and more. The book is organized so you can quiz yourself or challenge your friends. Each answers contains detailed and eye-opening information about the trivia question. A must-read for any true crime fan!
I really enjoyed TRUE CRIME TRIVIA. As a huge fan of thrillers, police procedurals, and mysteries of every genre, I loved the interesting true crime facts I learned from this book and also enjoyed the chance to quiz myself to see what I already knew. It’s written in multiple choice and true/false format and I found myself quickly hooked and wanting to read more!
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book from the author for review purposes.
A pretty basic question and multiple choice format for trivia based on true crime. It was fun to see what all I knew and didn't know, though there isn't much of a chance of me rereading this as..well it's a trivia book and I already did it. There were a few cases I'd never heard of that were interesting. Wouldn't have read this typically but it was free, so I figured, why not?
"True Crime Trivia: 350 Fascinating Questions & Answers to Test Your Knowledge of Serial Killers, Mysteries, Cold Cases, Heists & More" is an absorbing and well-curated compilation that will satisfy the curiosity of true crime aficionados. Michelle Tooker's attention to detail, diverse range of topics, and engaging writing style make this book an enjoyable and informative resource. Whether you're looking to test your knowledge, learn new facts, or simply immerse yourself in the intriguing world of true crime, this book is a worthy addition to your collection.
An interesting look at various types of crime - not just serial killers and other murders, but details of intricate heists. A remarkable aspect is how well it uses the ebook format, giving you the option of treating it as a quiz book or not, and the inclusion of links to websites that give you further details of the crimes. Read it while online and it can keep you occupied for hours.
I reviewed a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked the way this book was done and it is easy to see how it can be used an activity for both an individual and a group.
My family and I love this True Crime Trivia book. It contains hours of endless fun answering challenging true crime questions. A great book to test your skills whether you're an expert or novice on true crime history. I highly recommend this book.
As a somewhat fan of true crime and serial killers its always nice to learn something new. With so many different ways to read this book it's much more enjoyable than just turning page after page of trivia. There's a lot in this book a true crime fan would enjoy.
Wonderfully researched and very well formated! Lots of great questions! And if you will always learn something because she elaborates on the answers page. Great for reading alone or hosting a true crime trivia night! Well done!
