I’ve been waiting for another book in this series but I was disappointed with this one. The characters continue their regular banter but it fell flat. The mystery was a bit different which helped. Unfortunately that was all but negated by the typos and missing words.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

Thank you to Chelsea Thomas for the free book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and not affected by the giveaway.

Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny arrive home from vacation to learn they're about to miss out on a murder investigation. A man was found dead in a pond, apparently drunk and Chief Sunshine Flanagan declares the case closed. However, the man's son is certain his dad was murdered and wants the ladies to figure it out. When Jake Faulkner contacts them and announces he knows who killed his dad, Chelsea can't wait to hear who it is but as she's out walking Steve the dog, they come across Jake's dead body. NOW the police insist they can solve this one easily and Wayne won't share clues because he wants to solve it on his own. Not to be deterred, the ladies head off on their own investigation into Lloyd Faulkner's death, the one the police assume was accidental. Everyone is putting pressure on Chelsea and Wayne to pick a wedding date and with a bridal party booked for cabin rental and farm to table meals, Chelsea has to wonder whether she should be walking down the aisle soon.

This mystery was a little more engaging than some of the previous ones. I never guessed whodunit but I got pretty close at the end. I didn't care for the Chelsea vs. Wayne investigation plot. That has a big effect on their relationship and shouldn't be ignored. The baking and cooking sounded amazing and Miss May provides detailed instructions on how to cook. She left me craving apple pie!
As always the tone is silly and light but Chelsea has given up crying and babbling at least. This time it's T who babbles too much. She was way too annoying in this book.

Also annoying are the ditzy, sorority style women of the bridal party. I liked Faith, the hippie chick. She's chill and interesting. Annabelle the bride comes across as ditzy. She drinks A LOT and she and her friends make a lot of noise. Annabelle's ride or die is Heidi, a friend for life after a traumatic experience brought them together. That's wonderful to have such a close friend. Chelsea thinks she never had that but she has Miss May and Teeny at her back. She could be friends with Liz if she really wanted to or even her cousin!

Jake Faulkner is an angry man. He's rude, condescending and demanding. I guess he gets a pass because his dad was murdered and the police dismiss it as accidental drunk drowning? Lloyd, an elevator inspector, was not beloved by anyone except maybe his son. He sounds like he was lazy, an alcoholic and not good to his wife. While Jake comes across as horrible now, he seems to have been well liked back in New York where he was a musician. I feel so bad for Mrs. Faulkner.

Suspects include members of the Steele Lumber company because one of their family members was killed in an elevator accident because Lloyd didn't do his job correctly. These men exhibit toxic masculinity right down to the bleeping (which was funny at first but got old fast). Christopher doesn't seem to have gotten over his father's death and Jacob wants his brother to "get a grip" and shut up. That makes them both look guilty to me. Mrs. Faulkner was a wronged wife. She's gleeful at her husband's demise and happily burning his belongings when the ladies come across her. She doesn't seem to be grieving for her son either and also drinks too much. It sounds like Lloyd and his wife were quite the pair! Sudeer, their old suspect from Pine Grove, is back in the picture and is also a suspect. He has a good motive to have murdered Lloyd and then killed Jake to keep Jake from sharing the secret but he doesn't seem to have it in him. I hope he's not a murderer anyway! What about Deacon, Lloyd's only friend? One minute he's flirty and friendly and the next he's gruff and tough.

I'll probably read the next book eventually. Thankfully this one doesn't quite end of a cliffhanger but it does add a complication to Chelsea's life.

Chelsea, Teeny, and Miss May have recently returned from a vacation -- well, really, solving another murder -- in California, and all they do is want to relax. But Chelsea is blindsided by the fact that Miss May has booked a bachelorette party. Or maybe Chelsea just ignored her when she told her. Anyway, the women are there for a few days to enjoy their time, have a real home-cooked meal, and party a little bit. But even this is marred by murder when a man's body is found in the local pond, and the police chief won't let them even look at the body. In fact, she wants them as far away as possible. She's also instructed Chelsea's new fiancé, Detective Wayne, to not share any information -- which he's trying very hard not to do.

So, the three strike out on their own anyway, and Chelsea figures anything they learn she just won't tell Wayne, either. Or will one of them break down eventually? Time will tell. They're also stunned when a rude man that Chelsea met in town shows up on their doorstep and wants to hire them to solve the murder. It turns out that he's the dead man's son, and he doesn't think the police are doing enough. With reservations, the three agree, and now they're drawn into their own investigation -- which means going to the dead man's widow and asking her about it. Unfortunately, things don't go the way they planned, and they need to question others -- which also don't go the way they planned.

But when there's another murder, Chelsea thinks someone may be targeting these people, but she doesn't know who. Neither do the police. Will the three sleuths solve the murder before the police? Or will this time be their last as amateur P. I.'s?...

This is definitely one of my very favorite series. I love all the characters (well, almost; Sunny I could do without). I love watching the sleuths probe into the murders, and even Teeny has her own kind of logic (strange though it may be). They've had more problems this time out, with very few people wanting to give them any information at all. They can only hope that the police don't have any more luck than they do. But how do they solve the man's murder when they don't have any clues? It's not going to be easy.

They've also got the bridal party to contend with, and Chelsea is noticing one of them isn't a happy camper. In fact, she seems miserable. So, what is Chelsea to do to improve her mood? It's when she hears the backstory that she truly feels sorry for the young woman. Yet she can't concentrate on this with everything else going on. Plus, she and Wayne haven't even had time to discuss the marriage plans, much less set the date.

I enjoyed this book as much as the others, and it's always fun to watch how everything plays out. This one is definitely a winner. When the killer is revealed, it's as much a surprise to us as it is to Chelsea. Watching how everything comes down is the best part. At least until the end...when the author(s) give us a teaser of the next book. Now I find myself wanting to read it immediately!! As the saying goes, waiting is the hardest part. Highly recommended.

I received an advance copy of this book from the author and BookSprout but this in no way influenced my review.

This 18th book in this fun and amazing series has us turning pages non-stop. With our quirky amateur sleuths, Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny having just returned from a vacation in California which turned into solving a murder, you can't help but to read this book in one sitting. With lots of humor (oh that Teeny!), the trio are back in Pine Grove when a body turns up in the local pond. Chelsea's fiancé Detective Wayne is kept on a tight leash by his boss, Chief Flannagan, his ex. Where prior he was able to slip the trio some information about a case, this time it is absolutely a no-no. So it is up to the feisty trio to investigate on their own and especially when the son of the murder victim asks Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny to look into the murder of his father since he felt the police were not taking it seriously. And when he is found murdered, the trio has their work cut out for them; especially when they can get in the way of the police. Add to this chaos, Miss May booked a bachelorette party for Chelsea and her wedding party. The authors have added so many twists and turns with lots of laughs, you will be surprised at the end! I have read every book in this series and they get better and better with more twists, turns and red-herrings. You can read this book as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend the whole series to get a great back ground of our main characters and subordinate characters. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

I have read every one of Chelsea Thomas' Apple Orchard Cozy Mysteries and also her Dog Groomer Mysteries series. The books are well written and the characters are so real. The personalities of Miss May, Teeny & Chelsea get along so well and play off each other perfectly. Really all of the characters in the Apple Orchard series are wonderful, from beefy (lol) Wayne, Big Dan, the Mayor, so many others that come in and out of the books repeatedly. Many old friends revisited. This one kept me guessing all the way to the end. This is my first time that I received a free copy for review and even though I got this free copy, I have my regular pre-order placed to purchase it, too. I love Chelsea Thomas books and want to support Chelsea and Matt. The way I figure, I support them, they write more of books with my favorite characters and I get to keep sharing in their adventures. I recommend this book as a standalone read, but why not read the whole series? You never know what's going to happen or when Miss May is going to pull another full-sized pie out of her purse.

I wish I could take my time while reading these books, but I love them so much, I can't put them down until I am done.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. But like I said, I am still buying the book so I can have a regular copy and keep my collection up-to-date. Also to support Chelsea and Matt in their book writing.

Chelsea Thomas is an accomplished writer of cozey mystery and murder such as the " Apple Orchard Cozey Mystery series .In this eighteenth mystery to the series you will find yourself drawn in by the vibrant, colorful and quirky characters and their small town group dynamic drama, then enticed further by the intrigue of a deadly schemer and two bodies left behind . Once again the Apple Orchard inquisitive amateur sleuths are out to solve the mystery and the interwoven plot will carry you through from start to finish with laughter, disappointments, fulfillments and clashing of wit's. I am up into the wee hours of the night past my bedtime because I couldn't wait to see what was happening on the next page when I unexpectedly reached the climatic conclusion. OH it has been so worthwhile staying up past the wee hours. The ending was so unexpected and so well done you won't see what's coming. I have enjoyed this cozey mystery emencely and I'm sure if you're into cozey mystery with mayhem and murder you will too. Acquire " Pineapple Upside Drown Cake " for hours of intriguing and enjoyable entertainment. Kat.

bridal party mayhem descends on Pine Grove when Miss May books a group and fails to let Chelsea know

Flanagan institutes a new policy against any info being leaked to the sleuths, and ghosts from several folks relationships seem to haunt everyone

Is there any good that really comes from the big wedding buildup?

Seriously, there is little more depressing than having gone to a wedding faire and been dumped afterwards and getting congratulations on the expected date to you Mrs Oops not married to him

Can Chelsea overcome her jitters about the engagement and wedding to Wayne? is he worth the effort- because the dude is really under the thimb of his ex, Chief Flanagan

Will Teeny, Miss May and Chelsea be in trouble with the NYPD for trampling over laws in their jurisdiction?

A clumsy and clever romp filled with the true awkward and beautiful family bonds of zany sisterhood sleuths- and awkward Wayne with his handcuffs- maybe a bit kinky, Wayne, no?

funtastic and frantic whodunnit adventures.

In the 18th book in the series, Chelsea, May, and Teeny are confronted with the death of a man in a local pond. His cranky son asks them for help but then is killed himself. As the trio sets off on their quest to solve the murders they end up angering a few people, traveling to New York City in search of some answers, being in conflict with the local police (including Chelsea's finance), attending to the needs of a bachelorette party they booked, and following some clues that take them a bit off track.
The author is great about describing the food they eat, the scenery and plotting the mystery. Chelsea, besides dealing with the investigation, is also tackling some personal issues. She has just gotten engaged to the local police detective and is feeling a little pressured to set a date. She also realizes she doesn't have any close girlfriends after seeing how the women of the bachelorette party interact.
Teeny can be a bit over the top for me and I find it a little hard sometimes that these three are expected to solve the crime and how marginalized the police are.
An enjoyable quick read.

Pineapple Upside Drown Cake by Chelsea Thomas is a deliciously, yummy, highly enjoyable and irresistible book to put down. Full of excitement, suspense, humor, thrill and of course the element of romance, Chelsea Thomas has done a wonderful job with her 18th book in the Apple Orchard Series.

The protagonist, Chelsea Thomas, is an amateur detective, who helps her Aunt May in her bakery in Pine Grove, New York. She's been engaged to Wayne, a police officer and they have just returned from their trip to California when a new case turns up and a man, Lloyd Faulkner's dead body is discovered in the Hastings pond.

His son, Jake Faulkner, seeks the help of the amateur detectives, Chelsea and Aunt May's help to find his father's killer. Unfortunately, he too is found dead when Chelsea takes her dog, Steve, for a walk. Can the fiesty ladies, Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny crack the case before Police Department? This is a fantastic book by Chelsea Thomas. Do grab it on Amazon on 31st March, 2023.

Miss May, Teeny, Chelsea and her fiancé Wayne arrive back in Pine Grove only to find a dead body in a pond. Police say suicide – but was it? The body was identified as Lloyd Faulkner, a retired elevator inspector in Blue Mountain. His son approaches Miss May and Chelsea saying his father was murdered and could they help. Then the son is found dead at the bottom of a cliff. Again the police say suicide and not connected. Coincidence? There are many twists and turns while the trio of sleuths race to find the murderer before the police do – if the police do. They aren’t even treating it as a murder. This is the first book of the Apple Orchard series I have read and was hooked from the beginning. Even though this is a series, there is enough background so you know what is going on.

I hadn’t read any of the other books on the Apple Orchard Cozy Mysteries but I didn’t find that to be a hindrance. Enjoyed getting to know Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny. Teeny is a hoot and found myself smiling at some of her antics.
The mystery itself was a good one. A man is found floating in the river. Who is he and what happened? Chelsea’s fiancé, Mike, is a detective and would prefer that the super sleuthing trio not get involved. However the victim’s son asks for their help in solving the murder. Unfortunately he also is murdered on the way to meet with them with the name of the killer. I enjoyed the book immensely. I guessed wrong who was the killer and that’s a good thing. The ending was a surprise and now I can’t wait to read the next book.

I’m so glad to be back in Pine Grove with Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny! I sure have missed them! Right before they get back from their trip to California, the body of a prominent citizen is found floating in the pond. They don’t get really excited about trying to find his killer until Chelsea stumbles across a second body and the search is on! Are the killings related? There are so many suspects and so many confusing clues! Of course, they have to avoid Chief Flanagan who wants them to stay out of the investigation! Be prepared for plenty of laughs at all of their escapades! The investigation also turns into a competition between Chelsea and her fiancé Wayne who is on the police force. This is one of my favorites in the series and I never saw the ending coming! I can’t wait to come back and visit them again!

A new to me series that involved Chelsea, her aunt, and her aunt's friend (who is...a bit off the wall). They are a crime fighting team that seems to be able to solve crimes faster than the police....and the townspeople, as well as the police, know it. A body has been found floating in the town's pond; no one knows if foul play is suspected. Chelsea's boyfriend, Wayne, who is a policeman, has determined that the police will solve this crime faster because he will not be sharing information with Chelsea.
While trying to solve crimes, they also have to entertain a small bachlorette party.
It is a humorous and entertaining story.
I enjoyed reading the book and look forward to the next book in the series.
I was provided with an ARC by the author and Booksprout. This review is my honest opinion.

Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny come home from a trip to California to another murder in Pine Grove. Wayne and Chelsea are not sharing information on this case and Chief Flanagan has put a police tail on Chelsea to keep her from investigating. While figuring out how to investigate the murder Chelsea and her dog are put hiking and find another body, who happens to be the son of the first victim. The ladies struggle at first to put the pieces together in the two murder investigations. In addition to the murder investigations Miss May and Chelsea are hosting a bachelorette group at the farm. Ultimately Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny figure out the mystery and pick Wayne up on their way to the city.

This was a great addition to the series.

This is the 18th book in the series. The main characters are Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea. They are just back from California and hear that a dead body was found in the lake in town but no one knows who it is or how he got there. A short time later a angry guy named Jake shows up and wants them to find out who murdered his dad, who is the man found in the lake. Next thing they know he calls and says he knows who and will meet and tell them. Then 30 minutes later he is dead. The town police aren't even sure the first guy is murder, so they aren't exactly looking. The girls start to try and figure this out but the town's chief of police isn't making it easy. Her cops haven't solved a murder since they started looking. They are asking questions and getting some answers but will it be enough to help them solve the murder ?

I received this as part of an Booksprout review boxset.
This is my honest review.

Once again, Teeny, Chelsea, and Miss May put their sleuthing powers to use to solve a murder of both father and son.

When Teeny, Miss May, Chelsea, and Wayne return from L.A. they find a police removing an unknown body from the lake. Chelsea is sent home with a police escort by Chief Sunshine Flanagan. Yet the drowned man's son asks Chelsea, Miss May (and Teeny) to investigate the death because he doesn't trust the police to be able to solve the case. Without revealing spoilers, suffice it to say that the ladies solve the case. I recommend this book and series. It has humor and is clean. There are a lot of typos, and I am a little puzzled at this, as most of the series has been released before. Hopefully the errors will be corrected during publication.

The author has a talent for creating vivid images of places that jump off the page. From scent, to scenery to descriptions by characters the world jumps off the page. The characters are larger than life, perhaps a bit over the top in certain cases but still realistic with issues and problems that we’ve all faced in one form or another so they become less like a character in a book and more like an old friend come for a visit. The mystery was pretty good with a lot of red herrings thrown in to keep you guessing. The culprit was very unexpected. Was a bit of a sour note to the ending with news from Chelsea’s ex. Overall an enjoyable reading experience.

When spring looks more like the beginning of winter here, wrap yourself in a blanket and devour this Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery with a cup of hot tea before bedtime just like Chelsea and Miss May's evening ritual.

When the son of a recent murder victim asks local sassy sleuths Chelsea, Teeny, and Miss May to prove who has killed his father, he is found dead himself after claiming he discovered the truth.

Were they both involved with something sinister or silenced before the truth can be told. As Wayne and Chelsea is prevented from teaming up due to orders of Chief Sunshine Flanagan, will they be able to catch the killer without the other or will worlds collide once again.

In the 18th book in the Apple Orchard cozy mystery series, murder and mayhem visit Pine Grove once again. Chelsea is trying to decide if her engagement and impending wedding to Wayne is a good idea, while dealing with ex - Chief Flanagan herself. Meanwhile, the chief has instituted a new policy in the hope that there will be no more info leaks about cases to Chelsea and her friends. Will Teeny, Miss May and Chelsea be in trouble with the NYPD for trampling over laws in their jurisdiction? I hope other cozy mystery fans enjoy this book as much as I did because I really enjoyed the plot and the reveal at the end.

The sleuthing trio initially don't step up when a drowning occurred, but once they are approached by the son they decide to see what they can find out. This leads to jealousy, betrayal, the past being revisited as well as a few road trips for the ladies. I really enjoyed how with this one whilst there were some good leads you still didn't sway one way or the other to who you thought it was, you needed to let it play out and once it starts falling into place you kick yourself for not connecting some pieces like the google search!.

I’m not sure how many of these Apple Orchard mysteries I’ve read, but a bunch, and this is #18 in the series. Once again it’s fun to watch this slightly wacky trio of Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny work together to solve another murder (or two!). They seem like good friends to me! It takes multiple road trips in Miss May’s van, even a trip or two into the Big Apple, to try and solve this double murder. Teeny’s oddball comments are always so weird and funny! And this one definitely has an unexpected ending! I received a free ARC from the author through BookSprout and write this review voluntarily.

A floater in the pond!

Chelsea, Wayne, Aunt May, and Teeny are back home in Pine Grove after solving a murder in Hollywood but life there is anything but peaceful. A body in Hastings Pond pits Wayne against the sleuthing trio in a competition to see who can solve the case first, The mayhem is even worse when Aunt May unexpectedly books a bachelorette party without telling Chelsea.

This is a fun series. I enjoy the characters although Teeny gets a bit much at times. The book is a cute cozy mystery with humor and light drama. I received a free copy of this book but my review is voluntary and honest.

Very As always Chelsea Thomas delivers an unputdownable cozy mystery. Right after returning from their adventurous vacation in California Chelsea, Aunt May, and Teeny are right back on the trail of another murder. First a body is found in the local pond and then the son is pushed off a cliff to his untimely death right after leaving a message for Chelsea that he knows who the murderer is. Once again, the police department is racing the 3 sleuths to solve the murders first, with Police Chief Flanagan breathing down Chelsea’s neck. Another great addition to the series with unsuspected turns and suspects that seem obvious and those that don’t. Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny, Pine Grove’s favorite amateur detectives, are back on the case trying to solve another mysterious death. Usually Chelsea’s fiancé, Wayne, would share case information, but this time he is thwarted by the chief of police’s orders. Before they can even properly begin to investigate, Chelsea discovers a second dead body! Luckily there is time for baking up yummy goodies for the gang to eat and fuel their investigation! I really enjoy this author’s writing style, at times it feels like she’s speaking directly to me and definitely has a great sense of humor.

#18 in a very cute series that I’ve read from the beginning. Very enjoyable and likable characters. In this addition our sleuthing trio has just returned from a murder vacation in California to find a dead body in a pond. They find themselves hired by the dead man’s son because he’s unhappy with the progress of the local police, that leaves Chelsea trying to stay one step ahead of them and her boyfriend Wayne. I finished this one in record time and I’m already looking forward to #19. Really enjoy reading this series. I received an ARC from the author and Booksprout but that in no way influenced my review. If you haven’t read this series take a chance, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Off on Another Adventure !! . . .

This cozy is a fast and fun read that puts us back in the company of wonderful characters we know so well! Laugh-out-loud moments are some of the best parts of this book. The fast pacing, the character development, and the mystery were excellent, with the plot well-written and suspenseful. A drowning puts a damper on the festivities, but Teeny, Miss May, and Chelsea are right there to see justice done. This series is awesome and well worth your time, even if you can’t guess whodunit until the end! Follow the clues and enjoy!

This is another fun read in the apple orchard cozy mystery series. This is my favorite series from the author. The characters are always fun and likeable, and I love reading about the apple orchard and other happenings in the books. This one, as usual, has the main characters trying to solve a local mystery. I find the books in this series can be read out of normal if necessary without being lost. I would recommend it.

I love this series. I've read all the books in order so I can watch the characters grow. There's small town, food of course and murder. You have an apple orchard with the other Miss May and her niece then there's the quirky friend. They seem to always get hooked up in a murder to solve that the police have a hard time solving. It's good fun with some twist to keep you guessing. Recommend the book and the series.
