Exchange student Elia Gianni arrives at the Dayton airport ready to soak up everything American. When the young Italian was offered a placement with the Steele family, he knew he'd been given the chance of a lifetime. What he didn’t anticipate was the Steele’s blond, blue-eyed son, Rick.
The instant Rick sets eyes on the fantastic foreigner he falls head over heels. But the big, macho athlete was used to hiding his feelings and desperately wanting things he couldn’t have. Revealing the truth would change everything and throw his family into a tailspin.
Reality, however, becomes harder to deny when Rick is forced to share his bedroom with Elia. The summer immersion experience turns out to be more than anyone was prepared for as the two young men become lost in one another, sharing an exchange...of hearts.

I really hate giving one star ratings, but I am having trouble giving this one more than that. It was very short, which is why I was able to finish. Elia is an exchange student from Italy , the family thought he was a girl, but Rick the 19yr old son of the family couldn't be happier! They flirt, Elia goes to bed ( they are sharing a bed, since they weren't expecting a boy they hadn't made preparations) and so Rick starts jerking-off while looking at a sleeping Elia! CREEPY!!! So of course he wakes and they blow each other and have sex! and weren't quiet, and repeated the whole thing in the morning! So, obviously Rick is now 'outed' to his family, but it's no problem, and Elia goes back, but they will wait for each other!
Now all the thoughts going through the boys head were ridiculous IMO, but maybe, maybe 19 year olds think that way, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but on a whole the story was just really annoying.

THE REVIEW
All Romance eBooks has a special promotion during the month of February. Twenty-eight original novellas will be offered during the month, one each day, with all proceeds going to the American Heart Association. I had seen the call for submissions back in the fall and have been looking forward to what was offered for sale. I was delighted when a m/m story was selected to lead off the month, Exchange of Hearts by G.A. Hauser. The price was only $1.99 and the money is for a good cause, so I went ahead and downloaded a copy.
This is the third G.A. Hauser story I have read in as many weeks so I am becoming used to her style and this one is true to form. It has a slightly implausible set-up—the Italian exchange student who is arriving to spend a month with the Steele family turns out to be a he instead of a she. Sisters Connie and Rhonda are very disappointed in this turn of events, but 19 year old Rick is flabbergasted when he sees runway-model-gorgeous Elia standing in his driveway. There are just a few problems: Rick is gay, but not out to his family and he has no earthly clue about Elia’s sexual orientation.
This short novella takes place over an 18 hour period, with jet-lagged Elia arriving and being introduced to the Steele's. It is written in a light, breezy style with the family bumbling about, trying to figure out how to manage the unexpected situation. Elia was supposed to sleep on the daybed in the girl’s room; Mom suggests running out to buy an air mattress and Rick is determined to have Elia next to him in his queen-sized bed. And so on.
Regarding the bed: Rick wins out and there is a signature Hauser sex scene (I am becoming familiar with those, too). My favorite line: when Rick eyes Elia sleeping next to him (Elia is jet-lagged and exhausted so he crashes at 9:30), he shakes is his head and says, "Wake up and be gay, willya?" Cute.
My complaints: 1) the story feels as if it was written quickly and could have used a more careful editing; and 2) Elia speaks like some sort of illiterate hillbilly. I'm sorry, but a 19 year old student, who has likely been studying English since he was 10, wouldn't say things like "Never have no one done that," or "I am no move." If the story had been much longer, I might have given up in annoyance; since it was so short, I could mostly ignore it but it was irritating and more importantly, insulting to Elia.I am surprised Hauser treated a main character so poorly through his speech.
Even so, this was a short, fast read (I read it during my lunch break) with a few laughs and a happy ending. As I said above, the money is for a good cause so I can recommend this, even with its flaws.
NB: The Twenty-Eight Days of Heart novellas are available exclusively through All Romance eBooks and OmniLit. A new novella will be released each day during the month of February.

Not much to look at but cute. Very sweet and kind of unbelievable as well. Nice writing. Not enough development for me unless the idea was simply to present the readers with gay sex.
