Phew. Vento Aureo was a great ride for the most part. In fact, I considered putting it above part 4 as my favorite. The art, the color team, the progression, and the small character moments have all improved. It actually felt like the entirety of the story built up to an ultimate goal, with none of the fights feeling like pointless diversions. Which makes it all the more of a shame that once we reached that goal, the damn wheels fell off.
This volume did pick up the pieces somewhat. What was happening followed some semblance of logic. The ultimate fate of Diavolo was fittingly intense. Seeing his powers reversed felt satisfying. And the final spread was a great image to end on. The interrogation scene in sleeping slaves was pretty great. But for a couple of chapters the quality of the dialogue fell off a cliff.
"He no longer has anywhere to go. Especially not reality... Never again... He will never even arrive at the reality of death... Infinitely... The ending is something which has no ending. That is Gold Experience Requiem."

However, the foundation for the best parts of this volume is shaky.
Seeing Diavolo defeated was not as satisfying as it should have been. As time wore on, he only became less and less menacing. By the end Diavolo was at his least despicable. It never truly felt like he was in control during the climax. In fact, for most of the time Diavolo was actually "on screen", Buccialati was controlling his body. Diavolo had such a great character design, but spent most of his time on screen with his body being possessed by the kindest hero. Body swapping stories are garbage.
We don't get any sort of closure for this story. The gang spends no time processing Narancia's death and then we don't even get to see them cope with Bruno being gone. Mista and Trish are about to realize that he's really dead, then smash cut to the final image. It's implied that Giorno is now the leader of the gang? Or they at least bow before him? How? Why? What are Trish and Fugo up to? Remember how Battle Tendency ended with a nice little text blurb describing what each of the characters went on to do? That was nice.
The little epilogue arc, sleeping slaves, is a nice story in and of itself that tries to at least bring a sense of closure to the themes of Golden Wind. This mini arc is all about being enslaved to fate. So you could see Golden Wind's overarching theme of Resolve as being the antithesis to fate. Resolve, as portrayed in this series, is about having the courage and strength to shape your own destiny no matter the odds. And Diavolo's ability could easily be seen as a manifestation of fate. He sees what is fated to happen. Everyone's actions are already decided. King Crimson portrays a world where everything is predetermined, everything can be predicted. And when time skips, those actions have already occurred. Your fate will occur, whether you like it or not. Whether you realize it or not.
So for Gold Experience Requiem to shatter that fate- to utterly defy any attempt to be predetermined and rewrite its own reality. That could have been a powerful moment where Giorno's resolve definitively breaks through Diavolo's idea of fate.
The problem is that this idea of fate vs resolve wasn't really fleshed out in the body of Golden Wind. Resolve definitely got explored. But fate was mostly just alluded to. It didn't come up much in the conflict between the characters. So it just stands as something that is nice to think about, but requires the reader to meet the text more than halfway.
So there's Golden Wind. It was shaping up to be something special, but the climax that the entire series had been bulding toward utterly fell apart. Which colors how I view the journey in retrospect. How great is it that a Jojo part finally had an organic build to the climax, when that climax is a mess? When I think about Golden Wind, my mind will go to Beach Boys, Grateful Dead, Babyface. It'll center on the lovable main cast, how cool King Crimson's introduction is, Doppio's dopey antics. Unlike every other part of Jojo, I will try to push the climax away from my memory.

Really cool to see Giorno's Requiem in action, although it was confusing at first. Rolling Stones epilogue seemed sudden, and while interesting, was a drop in intensity for the series.

Muy buena la pelea final, mejor todavía las consecuencias (con la visión de ultratumba de yasabemosquién), y completamente alucinante el epílogo, que por algún motivo me recordó a la precuela de una historia jamás escrita. Y en cuanto al dibujo: lo mejor que había hecho Araki hasta el momento. Y lo más increíble es que todavía le quedaban como cincuenta tomos para seguir mejorando. Este hombre no tiene techo.

I cried a lot when I watched the anime but the manga just broke me completely.

After some of the best JoJo, the series proceeds to trip on a rock (probably the work of an enemy Stand) and begin a long and painful - if still not too steep - roll downhill.
This one has a mostly undeserved poor reputation on account of some terrible early translations, which frankly do not give a good image of it at all - but even that out of consideration, it has its issues. Chief of these being, the characters never really struck the right chord with me. By the standards of this comic in general, at least, I found them fairly shallow, uninteresting, and lacking in charm: they have their own goals and eccentrities, but still, you could pile them all together and there'd be less going on for them than with Josuke, Okuyasu, or Kira alone. Giorno himself is a bit of a bore when compared to Josuke - though not as bad as Jotaro at least - and Diavolo is a letdown after the personable and often hilariously insane Kira. None of their personalities ever really flare up in the way they'd need to bring true life to a story - at least not nearly to the extent of the previous arcs, which frankly do set a high bar.
It's also where the art style shift kicks to a new high gear. I'm not really sure what Araki was thinking with doing this, what prompted him for the change and what kind of story elements or requirements needed it - but I really don't like it. Pretty much every character looks like carved out of the same chiseled bishonen statue, then slapped with weird outfits and weirder still powers to distinquish them. It never worked for me, and it's only going to get worse from here on.
But on the bright side, the action is still as good and inventive and memorable as ever. And if the characters don't really work against each other too well, then the Stands more than pick up the slack, to newly inventive and hilarious extents. This arc has a few of my favourite fights and powers.
And if the character art isn't all too great, then the backgrounds are: the story sets its stage in Italy and makes the land look absolutely gorgeous. I've been there before and this comic makes me want to visit again.
Still, though, on the whole it didn't hit me quite so well. I guess it goes to show that you need more than Bizarre to make an Adventure.

Puedo entender lo frustrante que puede llegar a ser la pelea entre Giogio y Diavolo, pero sinceramente era muy difícil cerrar una historia teniendo niveles de peleas tan extremos. Desde esa perspectiva, sigo prefiriendo el final (en cuanto a las peleas) de Battle Tendency o Diamond is unbreakable. Todo lo que respecta a los stands en modo réquiem lo considerado demasiado, tratando de sacar las condiciones necesarias para cerrar una historia donde ya se veía difícil concluirla de forma satisfactoria, pero no contábamos con el epílogo.
Aquí Araki sabiendo que Giogio es el protagonista, nos deja una pinturita con una pequeña historia de Mista con Bucciarati. Todo sucede cuando un padre viene a solicitar ayuda a la pandilla para buscar venganza de la muerte de su hija, él sentía que no podía ser posible lo que ocurriría, por lo que necesitaba una ayuda externa para darle el golpe de gracia. De esta manera, van donde el famoso asesino, quién era un escultor, por lo que Mista se da inmediatamente cuenta de dos situaciones: ve una piedra constantemente en el viaje y el escultor es un usuario Stand. Por lo que se preguntaba cuál es el poder relacionado al stand, y más que poder, correspondía a premoniciones que realiza con personas que iban a morir en un futuro cercano. De esta manera, la escultura indica que Bucciarati está marcado con la muerte, por lo que su destino ya está establecido. Y siento que es este detalle tan simple, el hacernos conectar tanto con la banda, pero tantísimo, llevándonos a decir: "Bucciarati estaba ahí escrito, pero eso no impidió que cumplieras tu cometido", lo que enaltece la obra muchísimo, porque le da mayor fuerza al cierre y Giogio tomando el puesto del jefe de los mafiosos. Aun así, me hubiera gustado un poquito de interacción nuevamente entre Giogio y algun personaje que no fuera Polnareff, pero bueno, quizá lo importante no era la interacción con todo lo demás, sino cerrar la historia de la banda, y vaya que lo hizo bien.

Vento Aureo(Golden Wind) was a story of boys (not men*), which got "home" in the Italian mafia.
the main character - Giorno Giovanna is a cool guy who has a dream, but his personality isn't made for MC (he is too serious).
I got this easily because both of us, me and Giorno share same type of personalities and yeah~~~ honestly we're really boring guys (but flawless HAHA),
but Araki fixed this by attaching 5 boy to him.
their relationship made the story funny and developing.
all of them have iconic personalities that'll make you to get familiar with them.
despite of their dark past, they have kept kind hearts and immature "boyish" characteristics (except Bucciarati).
Bruno was a big brother to them, his responsibilities and decisions showed us his mature mentality and it was f beautiful(the mother is mothering).
MAJOR SPOILER
there was a problem with the villain...
Diavolo was really cool and obscure until... easily lost his cool with protagonist.
the whole manga was about to build up stairs to reach the apex(villain)...but when they reached the apex, the villain immediately fell.
in the writing everything happened logically but as a reader it felt kinda disappointing(I felt pity for him).
The Italian aesthetic, pre-stories of characters and lead motive of the part were just perfect.
*I pointed this cuz of part 7(Steel Ball Run) was the story where boys have become men and Vento Aureo was giving more boyish vibes than manly.

POLANREFF LIVED. YES YES YES YES. ILL TAKE HIM As A GHOST AS GIORNO'S NUMBER TWO ANY DAY. YIPEE. vento aureo is amazing. i loved all of the characters and mista is top 5 fav jojo characters (as of yet ofc). BUT. with all the high that this part has there is something that is lacking. the ending in the anime was abrupt but it felt even harsher in the manga. diavalo never felt like a true threat to me. "the boss" felt more like a threat but when we barely even see him it doesn't help. bruno is in his body most of the time. people like risotto and cioccolata felt way more like true villains. GER is still amazing and one of the coolest things to happen in the series but it just... ended. thinking about DIO, and Kira, and Kars it felt like those final battles had a lot of ebs and flows. and the fact that NONE OF THEM EVEN TRULY MOURNED NARNACIA'S DEATH. I NEED MY ANGST. look i love this part ok. but i understand its flaws and its why it isn't my favorite. (also the whole sleeping slaves stone shit kinda ruined things for me) it ruined the ending instead of having more of a real conclusion we go into this idea of "fate" which i have always disliked. OK BUT I HAD TO GET IT ALL OFF MY CHEST. I LOVE THE GANG SO MUCH. GIORNO. MISTA!!!!!! shouout sex pistol number 5! IM GONNA MISS ITALY AND MY BUDDIES. i hope they all run Italy well and polanreff is doing well because we are going to ... *check map* .... FLORIDA?????

Ce cycle était un peu à part et même si Giorgio est sympathique j'ai mis du temps à apprivoiser les personnages et les enjeux. Bucciaratti est clairement le personnage fort de ce cycle. J'ai trouvé qu'il y avait encore plus d'inventivité dans les pouvoirs montrés, il était de plus en plus difficile de trouver un moyen de battre les ennemis tant leurs pouvoirs changeaient jusqu'à la perception de la réalité. Le final était épique avec une tension maintenant de bout en bout. Dommage que le tout semble un peu détaché de l'histoire principale même si Giorgio est le fils de Dio. Un peu plus de références auraient été les bienvenues. Il n'en reste pas moins qu'il a réussi à nous attacher aux personnages avec des chapitres centrés sur chacun d'eux et ensuite sur leur entraide. Un cycle sympathique.

In Hirohiko Araki’s jojo’s bizarre adventure part 5: vento aureo the theme of the story is that no matter how strong or weak you are the one with the greater resolve is sure to win. For a direct example of the theme we can look at the battle between giorno & mista vs ghiaccio, when all seems hopeless and mista is about to accept his death giorno breaks his own arm to aid mista “having resolve is the ability to open up a bright path we need to follow within the darkness!” chapter 517. This quote perfectly shows the theme of the story and how this mindset is the main reason why vento aureo ended how it did, if it wasn’t for giorno giovanna’s resolve mista would have died. That same resolve saved other characters and got them through more than one situation.

Came off Parts 3-4 extremely positive about JoJos, thought there was something really off about this one. The main crew barely got any time to breathe, hang out and build character before they were thrust into endless life-threatening situations one after another, and you just get numb to it after a while. I wish I had gotten more of a chance to like them and care for them. I also felt like I could never understand what exactly Giorno's power was capable of, and the author became more interested in his teammates so he faded into the background anyway. Maybe I'll watch the show and see if that makes it click for me, but I struggled through most of the second half for completion's sake.

Definitivamente un buen final, pese a que lo de GE-R me pareció un poco... como un power-up sacado del... como lo hace ciertos shonens.
Me habría gustado que aprovecharan más a Doppio anyways.
Lo que más me gustó de VA es que si bien Giorno no rebosa tanta carisma y no es Best JoJo (como Señor ORAORAORA! de SC), lo compensan mucho con los demás personajes secundarios; hasta Trish logra hacerse querer.
Ese Araki y su talento para hacer buenos finales.
Bueno, ahora sí no tengo excusas para no esperar el anime de esta parte :D

I dont think this part hit me with quite the same force that the other later parts did, but i think Vento Aureo is certainly an interesting step for the series. I found Giorno disappointing, but the rest of the characters do well to make up for that, and King Crimson is maybe my favorite stand in the series so far. And, though i think it starts off a little lackluster, the second half is terrific delivering some of my favorite encounters of the whole series (cioccolata, heres looking at you)

Disappointing we don't get to see how Giorno is running the mafia as its new head and what changes he's made. He stated his grand ambitions once when he tried to convince Buccellati, but that's about it and they never came up again. The rest was just fights.
I get that fighting is the series' shtick, but I don't know... the actual story and character development don't have to be this barebones. A chapter or two of an epilogue would have sufficed.

No se como sentirme.
Al principio de la historia me decia a mi mismo que seguramente no terminaría sintiendo mucho por los personajes o por el Jojo principal.
Pero sin duda mi opinión cambió.
Al menos el equipo me pareció muy entrañable, y Giorno, a pesar de no ser mi Jojo favorito, le tomé mucho aprecio y cariño.

One of the best ending for a part or a series in general! Loved every bit of it and honestly I am so grateful for Araki. What he wrote is totally a mind blowing piece of art.
