Behind every great man there is a woman. Behind the world's greatest band, there are three.
The Groupie: Coco LaBiba has the beauty, she has the money, but she just needs sex, music and fame to get high. She won't give up her wild ways for anyone - except the one guy she can never have.
The Wife: Marny Rammer- pretty, quiet, devoted wife of the band's lead singer. But there's a price to pay when superstardom comes knocking on your husband's door, and for Marny it comes in a dangerous pile of fine white powder...
The Manager: Lori Wyatt is the girl from the sticks who is now the most kick-ass band manager in the business. She can play any man at their own game and will do anything she can to sky-rocket her boys to the top. Anything.
This book shocked me in more ways than one. Firstly, the cover and title kept me from reading it in the first place. Too cheap and tacky. But when I actually read it, I was so surprised by the way it drew me in. The characters were real, in an interesting way. The style of writing worked perfectly for the story. Not your average chick lit book. The second thing that shocked me was the amount of dirty sex and 80's sexuality in it. Without counting, I'm guessing there was at least 10 sex scens in this book. WOW. One thing that bothered me was the ending, but I couldn't really think of any other way for it to end.
Apart from that, it's completely gripping, beautifully written, very grungy. I found it so easy to read, and felt really pulled into the story. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves 80's music, sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. It's a good ride.
Rock Chicks is the story of the women behind the band. The groupie, the wife and the manager all have their roles to play in this enjoyable, easy read.
The publishers are building Ronni Cooper up to be the next big bonkbuster novelist, and is easy to see why with the number of romps reaching double figures before I had barely creased the spine!
Ronni Cooper takes us into the world of sex, drugs and rock n’ roll, back to the late eighties when bands like Guns n’ Roses and the Cure ruled the rock radio stations and band members shared EVERYTHING, even their girlfriends.
Yes, there are numerous sex scenes – the majority of which didn’t need to be there to move the plot forward, but it’s all a bit of fun isn’t it! And that’s exactly what this book is… Fun. It’s a fun bit of escapism, which will leave you hunting through your music collection for that Bon Jovi album and wondering what your fella would look like with long hair and a bass in his hand. The characters are flawed in ways that the book only scrapes the surface of, with all three of the women running from secrets in their past, and while the secrets are uncovered, they is still so much that we don’t know about their lives before the band.
The book held my attention from start to finish and even had me attempting to walk and read at the same time on my way into work (it never works). The story was somewhat predictable and the characters could do with some further fleshing out, but all things considered this was a hugely enjoyable read that I’ll be sharing and recommending to my friends for sure.
I bought this book because I was looking for something a little more mature to read ( I read a lot of young adult supernatural romance.) Rock Chicks tells the story of three women who are all involved with rockstars in some way. I can't remember the names of the girls, all I remember is finishing it quickly. Oops. The book is quite racy in some parts although not as racy as some people might expect from other reviews (on Amazon for example it's described as really racy) It's not so if you don't want to read something that is adult but not too graphic this is a good book to read.
This book was pure unadulterated fun! It took me back to the old time bands in my era like Guns and Roses, Bon Jovi, Motely Crue. As I mentioned it read like a Jackie Collins novel which in the past were my guilty pleasure books! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a fast paced fun flirty sometimes filthy read!!!! Tongue in cheek filthy though so you can even give this to your mum for a present!!!!
There were awkward transitions between all the POVs but after I got use to it, it turned out to be an okay book. This lives up to all the Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll in the late 80s/early 90s. It's not really a romance but more about these crazies living it up or getting caught up in this lifestyle.
I picked this up in the works a couple years ago, it was less than a pound and as I was going through one of them grungy stages the cover actually spoke to me. I consumed the book in a single sitting, it was captivating and mysterious although very rude. Imagine the surprise when I read the first sex scene, not knowing that it had an explicit content sticker on the back! This has since been one of my favourite books to read, I was transported to a place before my time and into a completely different world. An easy read, good fun and deliciously dark!
Wow, took a bit to get into in the beginning..but if you want to know the insides and outs of the 80's rock scene then this is the book...steamy in places but not over the top...drugs...lots of drugs...lots of sex....lots of groupies and a band..oh how I love Coco and Dax..what a scream..great book. Not my usual YA romance with a bit of rock star thrown in but a great insight none the less.
Sex, drugs and rock n roll. This book's got it, alright! I didn't expect this book to be erotica. Also the blurb contains a spoiler for something that doesn't happen until almost the end of the book. Anyway, so this book does have a plot besides all the detailed sex scenes, but at the end . I did find the main plot pretty sad. The party lifestyle with lots of alcohol and drugs isn't that great, and this book shows you why. Lots of drama. The music references are fun though! This takes place in the late '80s and early '90s, a great time for rock music. Also bonus points for having not just straight characters in it. Don't really think I would recommend it though.
Was really rooting for this book which was why I went over 300 pages. Unfortunately, it's a specimen that demonstrates that the glitzy rock scene of the late 80s cannot carry room temperature IQ and EQ characters, that are simply boring people.
Also, the author made uninformed depiction of acid and overdose. It is grossly impractical for a person to overdose on acid. There are such things as common bad trips but not ODs.
Love this book. Reads just like Jackie Collins books used to be. Also a nice long read. Loved the characters, could actually picture them. Every book l have read of this author have been great.
Tämä kirja on sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, kannesta kanteen.
Kerronnan rakenne on poikkeuksellinen. Kolmannen persoonan kertojalla on kiljoona näkökulmahenkilöä.
I actually like the cover, and I had managed to pick up the book for 99p from The Works, and I absolutely loved it! It was a brilliant bargain, however I must warn you it is very rude but well worth reading. I felt that the book was very original and it makes you think as your reading it, not your average chick-lit book.
This is an explicit book but a real insight to what the rock world is like. If you're into the 80's music scene, it's definitely a good book to read and you'll enjoy it. It's a bit weird having diary entries placed in the middle of the story but that all becomes clear towards the end.
Did not finish. It's a couple of years since I attempted to read this book, I was expecting a great read as I had seen good reviews & the genre of the book appeared to be right up my street. Maybe my mood wasn't right for it at the time but I didn't enjoy it and gave up half way through.
