I think my biggest issue with Kagami is that he is entirely too wordy. That said, he does an excellent job at capturing character complexities and emotions. He is also great at political intrigue.
How do I put this, uh, "They ran for it, they tried to muster for a journey. ~The End" This entire book can only fill about half an episode of an anime. But unlike English literature where the wordiness is not repetitive and is supplemented with a longer book as compensation, this book is descriptive, but not detailed, repetitive, but the book is still the same length. Contemplations should only be voiced with a decrypted matured idea that is either absolute or a firm opinion, instead we get glimpses of just how observant and well Ryner understands the people around him at every opportunity. I really don't mind details... if they're detailed. Even so, I wouldn't expect it to take up 75% of the entire book. Find another career, you blow.
