In this latest adventure, as Bill and Lt. Surge face their darkest hour, help unexpectedly comes from Red Then, high above the caves of Cerise Island, Blaine and Yellow's battle against Lance intensifies as both sides bring out the most powerful Pokemon in their arsenals. Just as victory seems within reach, Blaine's time runs out with Mewtwo. Ultimately, it's up to Yellow to finish the job.
Wowzers. I’m sad it ended but ultimately glad it happened. There’s a lot to go over but, I’ll try to be brief.
Crushing in its totality, hella threads of narrative have been finally united with their internalized teloses. After hundreds of Hyer-Beams, Hyrdo-Pumps, and whatever other Poke attacks we can name, they’ve all coalesced here to stunning effect. Finally uniting to oppose the evil Elite 4’s wicked plan to replace humanity with a Pokemon only world, solely the dreams and talents of our heroes can hopefully bring to a close their dastardly vision.
I won’t spoil anything, but I was pleased with the ending. Yet what I actually enjoyed overall was the utter uniqueness of the manga when fully contrasted with its adjoining anime and Gameboy game.
When fully shorn of the camp and puerile proclivities of each respectively, it’s the manga that is the true gem in the rough. Ferociously imaginative and undyingly energetic, the world spanning possibilities of the Pokemon universe are illustrated with mind expanding delight here. To those of us who expected something kiddy for kids, the manga offers something far more potent for our delirious delight.
took a long break but finally have finished the first box set!!! what a finale. i love the expansion of kanto’s story. it’s so hard not to love yellow, such a great protagonist for the back half of this generation. johto here we come!!!!!!
So far, I've read the whole 1º collection of the Pokémon Adventure series, and I believe that it's up to this one, volume 7. Really enjoyed the adventure but I feel like the translation is a huge deceptive train wreck. Everything is way too childish and censored. Which you could say that it is to be expected since it's aim is for children, however I looked at the Japanese version of this series and I sure hope that no children are reading this, at least not children below the teen age. There's blood (gore I would say), a bit of fan service, and some themes are actually very adult like in a sense. So you may find it weird to find that half of this translated series is a pun factory, and not a very good one at that, it gets annoying throughout the third volume. Miss Mato's drawing makes this series a pleasure to look at, simple yet very easy to perceive, the fights are never an agglomerate of blows that you don't know what's happening and Sir Hidenori Kusaka did a good job giving a balance at showing the game on his story. I recommend this series and I'll be looking forward to see how the story continues when I'm able to buy the next collection.
It has been a while since I've read one of these volumes. I had forgotten a lot but it was really easy to get back to the continuation of yellows journey. Pokemon adventures volume 7 is the resolution of the second chapter of the pokemon manga. It was very enjoyable and had a satisfying ending I don't have any complaints about.
Wow. This finale was amazing!!! The final battle was super cool and finally seeing Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow all united together at the end was amazing. This was a quick read because I was hooked till the end! 5/5 for me and an amazing ending to the Yellow series!
This volume is all battle, as the team continue to fight the Elite Four. A highlight for me was Mewtwo and Blaine.
One thing I didn't like was the prophecy/legend that only someone like Yellow could beat Lance - it got a bit convoluted once they added Giovanni to the mix. Some of the plot twists were a bit hit-or-miss, but overall I think this was a good conclusion to Yellow's arc.

TLDR: A solid ending. Nothing great, but enjoyable.
Longer Review: I honestly only think you'll like this book if you like Pokemon. I don't mean to sound harsh on this series, but the story seems a little off sometimes. I feel this ending helped a good deal of it to make some sense, but some parts are still of bit unclear from a story telling perspective. Perhaps if I reread the volumes now that I understand how the story is suppose to work I would get more enjoyment from it and understand more of the clues throughout the series. The thing is, if you read this far, you probably like all of the characters. And this volume expands upon those characters. If you have been uninterested in the recent volumes, then I don't think this one in particular is enough to sway you. Some things this volume does really well are the battles. Blaine's battle is very good, Green's battle is also very enjoyable and true to character, and Yellow's battle (while perhaps a bit over the top at times) is also pretty enjoyable. This is also one of the first volumes of the 7 that had me pause several times and really look at the artwork and try to see what was happening. I wouldn't necessarily say the artwork is better than previous volumes, but rather that it is perhaps more creative than in others. The two main issues with this particular volume are the plot (which seems a bit weird to me? Maybe I just don't get it) and that Yellow and Lance's battle seems a bit over the top at times. Granted, this is a Pokemon manga and I really am reading it for some crazy over the top battles, but it is also cool when the trainers use like logic and physics to beat their opponents by coming up with creative strategies. If you've read this far, read the volume. Why would you stop the second arc without finishing it? If you're just picking up the series, don't start here. You would be a bit confused. The battles will be cool and you could enjoy it, but otherwise you'll be lost.
A sweet conclusion to the arc with some good fights, yet I do think it was dragged on too long.
Art: The art style I still like. It’s cute and not too simple. The backgrounds are blank or too bland. The action can be hard to follow sometimes, but the composition is usually pretty good. Plus the expressions are solid.
Story: I like how the characters have actually changed by the end, it's subtle too. The characters keep the story fresh, since there are alot of battles. You care more about the battles because you care about the trainers. I still like the antagonists in this, and how their goals are fleshed out more. They're not just Saturday morning cartoon villains. However back to the battles, I do think these two volumes dragged out the battles too long. But I do think the battles improve alot throughout the volumes. There still are some flaws though. They still use fake outs, but they're creative and written well. I like how they balance the transitions through the multiple side plots. I do think some of the battles that were started in the previous volume have a smaller scale, and so the impact on the reader isn't as big. They just feel like another battle the hero will defiently win. Yellow's final battle was way too ridicolous I couldn't take it seriously lol. However I still liked this volume more than the last one. The battles in the end, were better too. The ending was also really nice. I love Yellow ahhh.
My last nitpick is the amount of stuff thrown at the wall, there's so many plot points.
And now for the exciting conclusion to the Elite Four's plan to destroy humanity. I mean they're not wrong in saying humans are the worst kind of invasive species, but that's a whole lot of murder.
I think Mewtwo was my very favorite part of this volume. He's just so cool!
There was a lot to enjoy about the conclusion of the Yellow Arc of Pokemon Adventures - it was great seeing the core cast come together, even if their on-screen interaction was pretty limited, there were several surprising reversals, and one genuinely unexpeted rescue.
A persistent problem through this series so far, however, has been the nebulousness of what Pokemon (and trainers, in this case) are capable of doing and why. Don’t get me wrong, I love that this series goes in some weirder directions, but at the same time, it’s difficult to feel excited when reversals and victories often seem to come out of nowhere and have no previously established logic that they build upon. Personally, I find it difficult to be impressed by a character getting out of an impossible situation when that solution is based on completely new information.
That said, overall, it was an exciting, elaborate final battle, and promising setup for the next chapter in the story. I’m pretty curious to see how the author and his new collaborator artist adapt my favorite generation of the Pokemon video game series. Hopefully a full 7 volumes for just the core cast (I hope) will allow a more reasonable pace for the story. Fingers crossed!
3/5 - Cool ideas for a conclusion undercut by seemingly random powers on both sides of the battle.
This volume got me to do the one thing I never suspected: be willing to keep reading.
The Yellow arc closes in such a fantastic, heart-pounding way that almost feels backhanded. These comics are twenty years old; the current Pokemon Adventures comics are pale imitations of the characterization, scope, and epic scale of these volumes.
Kusaka even knew how to balance the required material from the games with his own additions as the mangaka; Green's backstory and the revelation of Yellow's gender are manga-exclusive story threads that don't interfere with the Gold/Silver/Crystal storyline, AND they keep readers invested, despite most of the current cast being put aside Power Rangers-style.
I've been reading this series in bursts, and that's how I'll keep going. I'll give it a few weeks, and then it's time for that whole new place with a brand-new attitude: Johto. = )
In this book, the final battle between Yellow and Lance of the Elite Four begins. This battle will decide the fate of Yellow's region, so she and her friends are motivated to finish this battle. Lance's battle with Blaine and Yellow intensifies as Blaine pulls out his legendary pokemon Mewtwo. Attacks clash and rumble the volcanic island as the battle extends. On other parts of the volcano, pokemon trainers fight their final stands as well. The biggest reveal in this book is when Red makes a sudden appearance to help finish the fight with his old buddies. When Blaine runs out of juice, it is up to yellow to seal the deal and finish Lance off. Will Yellow be able to stand off Lance?
Rtc. A fitting ending to Yellow’s arc. Loved the ending of each battle, but especially Green/Sabrina vs Lorelei, and Yellow/*Spoiler* vs Lance. The ending combination of everyone’s power was good. I love that yellow mentioned the combination of red blue and green as colors create pure light when describing the bubbles earlier, as it nice foreshadowing to the final combined power of the three characters of the same name. All four protagonists feel pretty fleshed out (by middle grade manga standards that is — Pokémon adventures so far doesn’t have tooo much emotional depth despite it’s dark theming)
This is the last adventures in the arc of Red and Blue. The final battle againts Yellow and Lance have begun. But before this, Red is still battleling againts Bruno, when this one think he is the winner, Red use is hidden weapon and use the ability of his eevee. We also learn more about how Red escape from the ice. Time is running out and Lance plan to wipe out humanity and leave only Pokemon is almost in place, their is only one piece missing, and he is on his way.
We also get a bit of whats to come in the next manga with the next character, Silver. I have really loved this serie and can't wait to continue to see whats to come next!
I have no idea where I got this book. I went to my book jar to figure out what to read next, and I pulled out a slip that said "Pokemon" and I found this tucked away on my shelf. Its the last in the series, so I'm not sure why I bought it. BUT even if it was the end of a series, I enjoyed it! I could still follow along with the character's final battles. Since it was the last one, it wrapped up nicely too. I've never read a Pokemon comic before, so it was cool to see it in this format. It was neat how you could see into the Poke Balls! I liked the main character the best and all her cute pokemon! I may try to make a cosplay of her! I want to go back and read the rest of this series now!
Nice conclusion to the Kanto arc as the battle with Lance was kind of cool even if I was not really okay with turning him and the rest of the Elite Four into villains. Also love that Mewtwo played a pretty big part as he is one of my all time favorite legendaries. Also love who came in to save Yellow at the end but their are still a few questions left like we know why Lance was doing this but I am not sure why the rest of the Elite Four joined him. Also like the teaser for the next arc as I think it was a cool idea that this arc will directly affect the Johto Arc.
I'm an avid Pokemon fan but I have to admit this series was the first set of Pokemon books I read. For some reason I had always assumed that the series would follow the anime version with Ash. I'm glad it told a different version, introducing the characters Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. It was also interesting to see that some of the gym leaders and elite four with different alignments. The story line kept me interested and I loved the Green and Yellow characters. Overall a great little read for any Pokemon fans.
This arc ended with a real bang! Yellow has found Red and all is revealed. The final showdown occurs against Lance and the rest of the Elite Four. And a sneak peek at Lugia!
This wraps up the Kanto games as the next volumes begin Gold/Silver arcs. There is a small thread to follow with Green connecting to one of the new characters to help her find out which Pokemon took her away from her family.
This whole Yellow story has read like an epic fanfiction, but it was a real fun ride with all its twists and turns. Looking forward to seeing where they take the narrative next.
Thus the Yellow arc comes to a close. The series knows how to make things feel so epic. The average person would think "Ah. It's just Pokemon. It's a kid's game" but lemme tell you, the stuff that goes down in the manga is some crazy cool stuff. I got the collector's edition, so I have two more volumes to read through in this set, and now it's starting into the Gold & Silver arc. I'm excited to leave Kanto for the first time! This is gonna be an exciting adventure.
