Grad student Charlie Banks has been sent to work in Wyoming under Nate Showcross with his training of wild horses. Charlie has a chip on her shoulder about the whole gig, she doesn't believe in animals being forced to work and when her car breaks down it is just the straw that broke the camels back.

Nate has no idea who Charlie is or why his ex girlfriend made brochures for a business he does not have. Nate allows Charlie to stay but he doesn't plan on losing his heart to her. Charlie will end up having to decide if she wants a life with Nate or if she is simply sticking to her plan.

I had a really hard time warming to Charlie but once she softens up she is pretty intriguing. I liked the story, thought Nate was a great hero. Overall good book, would try the rest in the series.

In One Fine Cowboy we meet Nate, a sweet, kind, caring cowboy who loves his ranch and has worked hard for what he has, but he also is a bit of a grump and the not so polite kind. This impolite manner was brought on by his common law wife, she not only took everything he had, every last cent withdrawn from their bank accounts, she also took their beloved daughter when she left. To top it all off she changed his ranch into a horse whisperer learning school without telling him.
So here he is with the first of many "students" showing up ready to learn. Charlie is the most gorgeous creature he has ever laid eyes on but fun and sexy Charlie has a different approach to life and also horses, one that makes them bump heads one more than one occasion. However, the truth of his ex wife's dealings come to light and forces Charlie to not only find some way to keep herself busy whilst Nate comes up with a way to raise the money to give back to her the deposit in order for her to have her car fixed so she can return home, but it also forces her to try to fight off the strong attraction between her and Nate.
She fails miserably, falling head over heals in love and in bed with Nate. Amongst all this there are the new students showing up on their doorstep and low and behold Nate's ex common law wife Sandi. She shows up demanding the ranch be sold and she wants half the sale or he will never see his daughter again. And so the games begin.
In One Fine Cowboy we not only get to know Charlie and her sexy as sin cowboy Nate we also get to know family and friends who help bring these two lovers together. We see true friendship, true love and passions ignite, written in a very delectable manner by a author who certainly knows her way around the romance writing world and also horses and certainly cowboys.
This book was so well written, you could feel the wind on your back. See the beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The characters were all great. Even if they only had a minor roll in the book, you fell in love with them when you first met. 5 stars.

Ah yes, another cowboy book. I just can't get enough! This is my second Joanne Kennedy book and it was completely different from the other one. One word, fantastic!

One Fine Cowboy really isn't a great title for the actual story. Here's why:

Our girl, Charlie... (authors: stop giving female characters "unisex" names!! It is not cute and sassy, it's confusing!!)
She's a spitfire from Jersey. A lit stick of dynomite. Really what I'm strying to say is that she's a heaping bushel of crazy! LOL. But we like her, so it's all good.

Okay, so the thing about the title... SHE HATES COWBOYS!!!

Well, until she get's to know this one, that is.

Yummmm
Strong, silent type. Though yes, that would be annoying at times, trust me, it's for the best that men stay quiet! LOL. What makes this cowboy different from most books is that he isn't my typical "Aww, shucks" cowboy. In fact, he is painfully shy and self-conscious. But boy is he delectable!

Oh yeah, and he lives on this:

There was a lot going on in this book, some things hokey, but it was great. I love a book that focuses on hard work and relationships that build on trust. Oh yeah, and hot sex. :) What?? I'm only human!

If you are like me and love a shy and hardworking cowboy, this book is a must read. Nate is a man of few words. His gentle, sincere and patient nature helps him in his work with troubled horses and eventually will help him win the heart of a big city girl.
Joanne Kennedy quickly became one of my favorite auto-buy authors and I can't wait for her next book to come out.

This is not a NEW to me author or books, I have given a few books now chances as far as it goes
when you start off with a new author. So far I am 5-/50 and the reason being is that in each
book I have read from this author I had a hard time connecting (weather it was the characters or story)
therefore I was a little worried about this one.

Nate is a very sweet, hardworking and sexy man...who has been burned so bad that it left his rather broody and asshole-ish!
Not only did he get his heart broken but also she took everything and played him for a fool.
The biggest part is that she took their daughter and changed their ranch into something
that Nate had no Idea about.

Enter Charlie Banks, a grad student who was sent out to the ranch to work with Nate.
A Nate who has no idea why she is there and what was going on. After discovering the details,
he let's her stay but will not open his heart. Charlie on the other had hates Nate before even coming
down because she believes in keeping an animal for soul purpose to let them live a happy life. So when
there two meet it's fire and ice.

I had a REALLY hard time connecting with the heroine, I think he off put demeanor that went a little over extensive put me off.
I liked Nate very much even with his slight broody side. The story line worked and the side characters were fitting. Will I read more
books by the author? I think I am still at that 50/50 and will try again.

Sooo I the title is correct One fine cowboy, but the female character total brat, totally annoying, I couldn't anymore I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but she got more annoying and I could not see what Nate would have been attracted to her besides physically and since his ex was just as horrible or more so I was unhappy that he had apparently had not learned his lesson so he lost some points with me there. The story could have gone so much better if these woman behaved better. Not a horrid story, just the woman.

This was cute in a sort of weird way. I thought it got off to kind of a slow start, and yet a little bit too fast of one (). Still, it was an enjoyable story, although I like the Cowboys of Decker Ranch series better, I think. I definitely still want to continue with this series though. Can't go wrong with a cowboy (unless you are a prejudiced woman like Charlie... and even then you'll end up loving at least one cowboy in the end! *snicker*)

Another day, another cowboy romance!! I have been reading all the cowboy romances lately and have been loving it!!! One Fine Cowboy hit on all the tropes I love. City girl out of her comfort zone in the county, meets a hot, quiet cowboy, with a bit of that enemies to lovers vibe. Charlie comes out to Wyoming to learn about horses from Nate Shawcross, the horse whisperer himself, only to learn she’s been duped by his ex. And the accommodations are not what she hoped. I loved the banter and relationship between Charlie and Nate. And Nate was such a sweet and strong leading man! 4 stars for this one and I’m going to have to go back and read book 1 in the series!!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Charlie Banks wants to go back to New Brunswick where she belongs…the city. Though first Charlie must survive Latigo Ranch in Wyoming. She is doing a grad paper on horse whispering. Charlie is almost to the ranch when her car breaks down. She is rescued by a tall, dark and sexy cowboy. His name is Nate Shawcross. It just so happens that Nate is the man Charlie was looking for. She heard he was the best horse whisper around. Unfortunately for Charlie, Nate wants nothing to do with helping her with her grad paper and no longer teaches seminars. Charlie is hanging out at the ranch until her vehicle is fixed. How long can a city girl make it in the country?

One Fine Cowboy is the latest novel from author, Joanne Kennedy. I am a fan of cowboys and so author Joanne and I are a good fit. I first got a taste of what Mrs. Kennedy had to offer with her first book, Cowboy Trouble, so I was expecting the same with this book. I was in for a big surprise, I absolutely loved this book more then the first one. Charlie fit in more into the ranch life then she knew. I thought she was spunky and full of personality. Unlike Nate, who was more of the strong silent type but I liked him. He had a caring heart. There were many laugh out moments, especially involving Charlie. I had a blast reading this book. Charlie and Nate were meant for each other. One Fine Cowboy will make you want to kick up your cowboy boots and do the “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” all the way to the bookstore for more!

Charlie comes to Wyoming under the pretense of Horse Whispering on a dude ranch according to the brochure. She did not know Sandi Nate's ex girlfriend lied about the way the ranch looked. It was almost in shambles. The first think Charlie wanted to do was go right back home. As shocked as she was she could not get a refund as Sandi cleaned out the checking and savings account and left town to go to Denver. Nate was broke and needed help with the clinic he had no clue it was to take place. With Charlie's help he just might make it if he can convince Charlie to stay.

The book was good the think I did not like is poor Nate being led by Sandi and believed everything she had to say as truth. He never questioned her after she cleaned out their accounts and left him. When she comes back for a few days he is lead again by her as she takes over. It takes Charlie and Doris, another student that shows up for the clinic, to get Nate to face Sandi.

I liked the relationship between Nate and Charlie and the other support characters were fun to get to know. I did like seeing Lackaduck back into the book from the earlier books and some characters that was named before bounce around in the book.

Okay, disclaimer: I'm not one to read romance novels.
Another disclaimer: But I love books about cowboys.

I was hesitant to post this review because I'm still slightly embarassed by the fact that I read a romance novel, but I totally enjoyed this book and it would be unfair not to. It was decently written, wasn't uncomfortably raunchy/subversive and there was even some character development there. That's all I expected, or wanted, from this so I was happy.

Every time I felt like Charlie was being annoying, I just forced myself to think of the awful Anastasia and her "inner goddess" and suddenly everything was okay. (Yes, I hate 50 Shades that much.)

All in all, a fun and quick read. I'd check out her other ranch romance novel for a vacation weekend or something.

Ok so I'm going to try to say this without giving anything away from this book. I have never wanted to slap someone as much as I did this one woman in this book. It's not the main character Charlie. Trust me you will know who it is when she pops into the picture.

One Fine Cowboy follows a common formula of 2 people trying to fight their feelings for each other. Joanne Kennedy's writing skills made it hard for me to put this book down. Oh how I wish her 3rd book was out now.

This cowboy romance was actually a really fun ride! I enjoyed the chemistry between Nate and Charlie a lot. They really fell into that opposites attract roll perfectly. Their chemistry was electric from the beginning. The angle of Sandi running off with all of Nate's money ended up being quite interesting. This book kept me guessing, and it had some good steam to it as well.
The Wrangler Butt jokes were pretty fun also! 😉

3 1/2 stars. Not bad, and more of a steamy read then I expected...which was a pleasant surprise. At first I thought, no way am I going to finish this one, then it picked up, Nate grabbed my heart and I was pulling for him. Charlie has some repetitive, gotta go...gonna stay moments, but other than that it was quite enjoyable.

Good city girl/country boy romance. Charlie is a psychology grad student from New Jersey. She has a Plan for her life - finish school, get a good job, then look at the possibility of a relationship. She's not especially happy to be sent to the wilds of Wyoming to do a research project on “assessing the parallels between the training techniques of Western livestock managers and the nonverbal cues with which humans communicate their wants and needs.” That means dealing with cowboys, whom she considers the lowest of the low. As a card-carrying member of PETA, she believes them animal abusers of the worst kind. But she has no choice, and off she goes, only to have her car break down miles from the ranch house. Lucky for her, she's rescued by the "horse whisperer" himself. But there's quite a shock waiting for her.

Nate is surprised to have this city girl show up for a seminar that he has no idea he's giving. It's all he can do these days to stay focused on making ends meet so that he doesn't lose the ranch he loves. It turns out that his ex-girlfriend sent out flyers advertising the seminar, took deposits, and then took off with the money, plus everything in their checking and savings accounts. Nate is flat broke and isn't sure he can come up with the money to feed the incoming "students," much less refund their deposits.

The first meeting between Charlie and Nate was interesting. She's got a pretty big chip on her shoulder about men in general and cowboys in particular, and she is free with her opinions on both. Nate was blindsided by the whole seminar thing and isn't particularly welcoming. The sparks fly between them when she jumps to conclusions about his training methods. She'd like nothing more than to leave, but with her car out of commission and no chance of a refund on the seminar, she's stuck there. Charlie's rough edges soften a bit when she meets some of the horses, and her love of animals comes to the fore. I loved the scene with Junior and how quickly she connected with him, and Nate's surprise that it happened at all.

I liked the development of their relationship. It is very much an opposites attract at first. Charlie is outgoing and blunt, and about as independent as could be. Nate is quiet, shy, and more than a bit grumpy thanks to circumstances. The attraction between them is strong, but both try to fight it. Charlie has her plans and doesn't intend to let anything distract her. Nate is just trying to keep it all together. Charlie feels bad for Nate, especially when the other three students arrive, and finds herself wanting to help him. The more time they spend together, the more they find they have in common. The attraction also burns hotter each day. I felt a little sorry for Nate as he frequently found himself tongue-tied around Charlie, though his looks were far more eloquent. He ultimately won me over when his daughter Sam arrived, and his evident love for her showed a different side to him. I also liked seeing him in his element with the horses, and his ability to make his students understand. It was obvious that Nate was falling hard for Charlie. Though he dreams of something bigger between them, he doesn't believe it could happen. Charlie falls just as hard but pushes him away even harder. She has her plans and fights her desire to change them.

Things get complicated when Nate's ex arrives back on the ranch. Sandi is a piece of work and knows exactly how to manipulate Nate to get what she wants. I got very frustrated with Nate and the way he let her bully him into doing what she wanted. Charlie saw Sandi for what she was. I ached for Nate when Sandi started in on her demands and threats and wanted him to push back. It took an intervention from Charlie and fellow student Doris for Nate to see what was happening and find his backbone. I did like the final solution, and the epilogue was great.

The secondary characters of the other three students were great. Doris was an older lady, a rancher who was still interested in learning more about horses. She is practical, a bit blunt, and ends up almost like a mother figure to Charlie and Nate. She had very definite matchmaking tendencies, and it was fun to see her try to nudge the two together. Phaedra is the goth teenager with some serious daddy issues. She isn't all that happy to be there at first, and there are some pretty difficult scenes as she settles in. I liked how she and Charlie connected and the difference that Charlie made in her outlook. The last arrival was Phaedra's dad, a movie star who hasn't seen her in ten years. Taylor turned out to be a nicer guy than I expected, with more behind his issues than first suspected. He was more down-to-earth than I expected and I liked his growing friendship with Nate.

Nate Shawcross is one fine cowboy. This handsome man is quiet and unassuming, more comfortable with body language than words. He has not had an easy life. He inherited Latigo Ranch, the family ranch from his grandparents, who raised him (no mention of his parents at all in the story). But before he could head off to college, his grandmother died, his grandfather had slipped into dementia and had to be placed in a home and then his girlfriend, Sandi Givens, got pregnant. He struggled to build a horse operation, where he has worked with abused and rescued horses along with working with horses for clients. His girlfriend hated the ranch and finally having enough, cleaned out their bank accounts and took off to Denver with their daughter. But before leaving, she printed out slick dude ranch brochures, selling a Nate Shawcross clinic, ran off with the deposits and didn't tell him anything about it. He was raised to "man up".

Graduate student Charlie Banks is sent to the ranch by her advisor to observe the parallels between nonverbal cues between man and horse, compared to interhuman communication. I should have bonded with Charlie as I too love animals and wanted to go to veterinary school, but it was allergies not grades that kept me out. She is a typical millennial know it all, who has bought into all the leftists propaganda and claims to hate cowboys, without ever having met one. She was raised by a single mother to follow THE PLAN: Get a degree, get meaningful fulfilling work that helps others. And stay away from men.

When Charlie is the first student to arrive, she demands the deposit back- but Nate doesn't have it. As she spends more time with him, and the other students that arrive afterwards, she learns a lot about stereotyping, that women can be meaner and less caring than men and that she needs to grow up.

Aside from finding Charlie's personality very annoying, the rest of the characters were interesting, for good and bad, with easy banner and entertaining stories. The story kept me going, rooting for Nate to somehow get his happy ending.

I read an ARC from NetGalley.com. This was my voluntary and unbiased review.

ONE FINE COWBOY is an engaging story that will have you grinding your teeth, laughing out loud, and wondering at the cluelessness of the male of the species. Yep, all of that in one story. Just a note: this story was originally published in 2010, now I didn’t read it back then so I’ve no clue if anything has changed. Just an FYI to check your bookshelves ‘cos I hate to rebuy a book I already have and assume that you feel the same way.

It took me a while to warm up to Charlie, for me she seems to have a chip on her shoulder that could rival a boulder. She has certain ideas and she’s not going to change any of them easily. Nate is not so much taciturn, in my opinion, but shy and done wrong by a woman who is still yanking his chain so I get why he’s the silent type now. True he doesn’t communicate more than he absolutely has to, but when he speaks it’s worth the wait.

ONE FINE COWBOY gives us a villainess to loathe and that is probably an understatement. It is extremely easy to hate Nate’s ex, and I don’t normally use “hate” in a review. But a woman who would heartlessly do the things she does, yeah loathe and hate are good words to describe her.

I’ve enjoyed this series, and I’ll definitely pick up the rest. If you love a good romance with seemingly opposites finding their way to a happy ending then you’ll enjoy this story and series. I’d not hesitate to recommend ONE FINE COWBOY, and I had a blast in this world once again.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

It was really hard at first for me to get into this book. I could not stand the female character she made my skin crawl and was just so annoying. Meanwhile there was totally likable male who I just couldn’t see with this obnoxious woman. I really considered putting it down for a bit. But I hate to not finish a book so I pushed on through and was so glad to find the female ease up and become a bit more likable in the end to where I could agree with the relationship.

The interesting thing about the book was the extremely irritating female characters that you can’t stand, it’s not often that that’s the case. Both Nate’s ex and Charlie have some severe hang ups that annoyed me endlessly but it was nice to have a change in the typical and to have such strong emotions about a character.

I loved the setting, the ranch seemed like such a welcoming place and the side characters added a whole lot of interest that kept me reading even through my annoyance.

The story centers around Nate Shawcross and Charlie Banks.
Nate is a rancher who works with wild horses. His girlfriend left and took his money, and someone close to him. He’s not only struggling with the ranch but figuring out what he’ll be doing next. Charlie, a psychology grad student has signed up for a workshop with “the horse whisperer”. But surprise , surprise, there is no workshop, the ex-girlfriend was the one that set it up, and took the money. Add to that the fact that the ranch is barely livable.
Charlie plans to leave , finish her degree and find a purpose in her work, but she’s drawn to Nate and as more individuals show up for the workshop, she ends up helping Nate with the guests. That is until the ex comes back making demands.
The plot was ok, and I am sorry to say that I never warmed up to either character. Not a bad story, but nothing special.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I really had a hard time liking Charlie at the beginning, she overreacted, kind of judgmental, and totally stuck on the plan that her mother outlined for her and there was NO deviating from that PLAN. Nate was mu;ch more likable but at times, I just wanted him to quit being so agreeable and fight back. Great evil ex-girlfriend for the plot and lovable sidekicks to help them as they had a long road to get to their HEA.

At times, I was not sure if they were going to get past their problems to find a compromise. As the story progressed, I did like that Charlie was there to help Nate and Sam but she did tend to get distracted and angry and let Sandi push her buttons.

Nice how they wrapped up the book and things worked out for all of them, even Sandi.

3.5 stars for Joanne Kennedy’s “One Fine Cowboy.” Charlie Banks is on a mission to finish her Masters Degree from Rutgers on nonverbal communication between humans and what we can learn from animals. In this story, we never truly learn how all that turns out or her findings, and that left a big question in the storyline for me. Nate Shawcross sees himself as a simple cowboy trying to preserve his way of life and his family farm, but it has not come without difficulty. Now he suddenly has 4 greenhorns wanting to learn the finer traits of horse whispering that he had no idea were descending on his farm since his ex set the whole thing up and never told him a word about it. Nate & Charlie’s story is a love at first sight but not wanting to admit it kind of story that was a fun read.

This was kinda just meh. The writing was horrible, but it wasn't great either. I disliked Charlie from the start, and honestly it didn't get much better from there. There wasn't any insight into Charlie in the blurb, and I can tell you if it mentioned PETA anywhere in it, I would have skipped this one. She was snotty and annoying. Nate was okay, but I didn't see what he saw in Charlie. I like opposites attract stories, but they didn't have anything in common to make that work IMO. This was a first for me from this author, but I would be willing to give her another read.

One Fine Cowboy by Joanne Kennedy is a steamy western romance that is sure to take your breath away. The second book in the Acquainted with the Night series with rough, tough and devastatingly sexy cowboys and the woman who manage to catch their eye and steal their hearts.  One Fine Cowboy is well written that if you close your eyes you can see the sunset and feel the wind on your cheeks. The characters are vividly realistic and relatable making  you fall in love with them when you first meet.  One Fine Cowboy is a well written, easy to read and enjoyable romance,

I love the honesty and how real the characters are in this good cowboy romance. Charlie Banks came to Wyoming to attend a clinic on a horse whisperer and how she could relate this to her graduate courses in psychology. Unfortunately she had been duped when she arrived and met Nate Shawcross and he did not know anything about the clinic. It seems his ex-girlfriend had printed the brochures and collected the deposits and then skipped town. This is a great story about understanding animals and how to treat people with the same patience. Good read

Nate is just a tad bit shy on some things, “your panties,” he said. “I just— I just want to see what you’re wearing.” His face was red, and no wonder..." Nate just can't help but give in to his woman, "Nate stared at her and she stared back, arms folded over her chest, jaw squared. He looked away first. “All right ,” he said. “You’re here to learn, and I guess she’ll teach you a thing or two.” I liked this book, I loved Nate, the man had his hands full with Charlie.

3 1/2 Star Review.....

One Fine Cowboy is the second book in Joanne Kennedy’s Acquainted with the Night series and was a well written, easy to read and enjoyable romance. I liked the character development and the plot was interesting without being over the top. It did start out a little slow, but kept me intrigued enough to want to finish. I’ll definitely continue this series and look forward to what’s to come.

One Fine Cowboy is fun and entertaining from the first page to the last. There are plenty of laughs, drama, excitement, and romance to enjoy in this story including sexy cowboys, horses, nosy friends, an overbearing mother, a bitter ex, and plenty of chemistry. The story started a little slow and I struggled to really like Charlie but overall with all the added extras in the storyline it was a good read.

One Fine Cowboy was a slow starter for me, as I wasnt initially fond of the characters. I give Joanne Kennedy a lot of credit as a writer, for being able to make me care about the outcome of the story despite not engaging with the characters. It takes skill to show character growth through a story, but that does happen in One Fine Cowboy. The romance and happily ever after are satisfactory. I would read more from Ms Kennedy.

Loved this book. Omg what a great love story! I found myself pulled into this story from the first chapter and didn’t come up for air until the epilogue!! I seriously couldn’t put this book down......wow I’ve never read a book quite like it!! Wish I could give this book more than the five stars that it totally deserves. Happy reading!
