Typical DP with the older guardian H fighting the attraction real hard.
The h almost gives up on him and stupidly gets engaged to a wimpy om (but not wimpy enough that he doesn’t try to tone down the h’s temperament!)
Things play out predictably with lots of hot heavy makeout sessions followed by guilt trips and running away till finally better sense prevails!
Sweet, sizzling and simple!

Montana Mavericks Weddings: The Bride Who Was Stolen in the Night\Cowgirl BrideThese are 3 novellas. My 3 star review for the first one, The Bride who was Stolen in the Night, by Diana Palmer, is here:

In that story there was mention of Kirk Conroy the foreman and Felicity, Abby’s best friend(the h). I looked high and low for this story which is written by Ann Major. I could not find it anywhere. I decided to order this book with all 3 stories from eBay just so I could read this one. Unfortunately, this story was just ok.

Bride, Baby and All(my rating 2-2.5 ⭐️)

Kirk, the hero, is a player. He was married once, was burned, and has no plans to repeat that mistake again. So he bedded not wedded the local available girls. Currently, he has been seeing one young lady who plans on getting him to the altar, so she doesn’t give up the milk for free. However, he gets off kilter when the h, Felicity, enters his life. He isn’t sure why as she is not as pretty as the other girls he sees. Plus, she comes from a wealthy family and seems snooty. He is anti wealthy girls due to his disastrous marriage. Felicity, has also been burned in love. She is anti men, plus her life is about to get complicated(hint: it’s the 2nd word in the title).
Anyhoo, she keeps freezing him out, and he keeps pursuing her. Then he plays hard to get, and she doesn’t like that so she opens up the lines of negotiation with him. She isn’t forthcoming with her past or her “secret”. This is a huge problem for the H. Then she lets the H discover the secret with his hands. He is disturbed by it, but he does have his reasons. Plus, she doesn’t ever open up to him about how she came to be in her current condition. He goes away for 2 days, he gets drunk, is driven back by a red head who just wants him home safe. The h and H have sex. Things are looking up. Then she runs off thinking he used her. He looks for her…sort of. Then, finds her and the baby 7 months later. He tells her again he wants to marry her and that he will love her child as well.

This story is anticlimactic. It had all the makings of an angsty read, but it was really hard to get invested with the characters. I realize it was a novella, but there seemed to be a lot of missed connections and development that still could have happened. It wasn’t even a good enemies to lovers story. I kind of thought the h in this one was ridiculous. She refused to open up about things, assumed he was part of a malicious bet, even though he told her he wasn’t. It was just very, very undeveloped.

Like I said, this story is hard to find. Maybe there is a reason it has been left out of recent rereleases of the other 2 stories here Montana Mavericks Weddings: The Bride Who Was Stolen in the Night\Cowgirl Bride.

Finally, we have a 2nd chance story written by Susan Mallery called Cowgirl Bride. IMO this was the best of the 3 coming in at a 3.5 ⭐️ . However you can find some good reviews for this one here: Cowgirl Bride

This is the story of Sierra Conroy, sister to the brother Kirk in book 2. 10 years ago, her wealthy high school sweetheart broke her heart and married someone else. After his “betrayal” she joined the rodeo circuit and became a barrel racer.(Thanks to binging on Yellowstone, I actually know a little about this) When she tired of the rodeo she settled on the Derringer ranch(bk 1 of this series) and worked as a ranch hand. I am assuming that she is late 20’s or 30 ish in age. The story opens when she rescues a 9 year old boy on the ranch. It so happens nearby is his dad, who happens to be her 1 true love Dylan.

Dylan has always loved Sierra. He can’t remember the night he “betrayed” her, and he can’t believe that he would as she is all he ever thinks about. He is divorced from Claire the ow in the story, has decided to settle near the h hoping to win her back. He was never a rancher, but figures the h can run it for him. He actually went on to become a lawyer as his parents wanted and is now looking to enter the political ring. He wants the h to be his First Lady. He wrote her letters after the incident that broke them up, but her protective brother took them and hid them. Dylan has his work cut out for him to prove that Sierra and him belong together. It is indicated that they were each other’s firsts. She has to decide if she can trust him again. Then, she has to be convinced that she will not be a liability to his political career, and that she can be a good mom.

Coming next is the spoiler if you want to know what separated them.

The H refuses to give up on the h and employs the help of others in the story to convince her that she is great just the way she is. She is finally convinced by 10 year old Rory, who is as smitten with the h as his dad is. So, it ends with a wedding and an HEA.

Overall, this had more heart than the other 2. You could feel the angst of the h, but I wouldn’t say this was an angsty read. For a novella it was decent, even though their past and ages are sketchy. I kind of wished there was a bigger epilogue in the future with all 3 couples but oh well!

I've now read several stories by Diana Palmer, and I have to say I still don't like the way she writes. Her hero in this one was ok, but I couldn't really warm up to him. I detested Abby. She knew she didn't love Troy when she got engaged to him, knew she still loved Chayce, and she was still going to go through with the wedding. She wasn't quite too stupid to live, but her lack of guts just annoyed me.

I much preferred Susan Mallery's story. Yes, Dylan had made a mistake, but even though he couldn't remember the event, he still took responsibility, even though it tore he and Sierra apart. When he came back, he was determined to win her back. He did everything right, including working on her insecurities. I liked the way it turned out.

I didn't know that Kirk got his own story because the book I purchased only contains two stories. What a bummer.

But overall, I enjoyed it and I'm going to say that Susan Mallory's good author. I think I'm going to get her books soon.

Diana Palmer's story is very typical and predictable but I liked it as well. Good book!

2 1/2 stars. The edition I read had only Diana Palmer’s story, which contained a misunderstanding (by the hero) that continued far too long.

The two stories in this set were both well written and hard to put down once you start reading. Both authors know how to tell stories to keep readers attention through the end.

The stolen bride by DP is true to her previous works which is roller coaster ride. It is somewhat predictable in where her characters sometimes are cut in the same pattern of cloth, but I don't mind the at all. I fell in love with the majority of her characters that even if I read them again and again I would find myself holding my breath to what crazy thing her characters will do next. Stealing a bride is within that very scope. I like that the h knew her whole world revolved around the H, but at the same time she had a plan B that actually propel the success of plan A. The girl gots to have her choices, and I can't blame her.

I'll always read Diana Palmer - have since the 1980's - but this is the type of book that makes me think I should write a romance novel, because if these were published, I should be able to get one published.

Still love Diana Palmer - will pick up the next one, too - but this is a lame set of stories. If you find it at a rummage sale for a quarter, pick it up if you're a fan. If you find it at Half-Price Books for $3, skip it.

Abby is getting married only her heart isn't in it. She is in love with her guardian. Everything comes to a head when she asks him to walk her down the aisle.

This is a fast short story that begins a three story series. The characters are interconnected, which makes for a contiguous read with different main characters that have already been introduced.

I liked this one quite a bit. It didn't have a lot of drama, but there were high emotions.

I enjoy anything I read by Diana Palmer and anyone that pairs with her gets read as well when in the same book. In this one the stories are well written although yes they follow your typical man/woman, drama, stuggle, end up together story line they are still good and a book I enjoyed.

The problem with this Kindle edition book is that it only contains 2 of the 3 stories in the original anthology. And as far as I've been able to discern...the 2nd story by Ann Major isn't available as an ebook. ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Apparently I read this one before on 12/7/14 but didn’t remember it. This time around the anthology only included two books but I think I’ll still with my original rating anyway. 3 stars!!!
