From USA Today best-selling author Becca Jameson comes a new dark romance series. Roses and Thorns is packed with sex, lies, secrets, deceit, family rivalry, and dark situations.

Forbidden love won’t stop me from finding her and making her mine…

Giana
I live a luxurious, protected life. I know I’m naïve. My controlling father watches me like a hawk. He’s a powerful man with endless connections. He’s also strict. If his employees so much as glance at me, they disappear. If I glance at them, they’re fired. So, I keep my eyes down and my thoughts to myself. It works. Most of the time. Except with Damon.

Damon
I have a job to do. Goals. They don’t include the beautiful young temptress who struts around her father’s compound showing far too much skin. I can’t be distracted by her. It doesn’t matter that her smile lights up a room or that her voice melts me. My priorities have been set in stone for years. I will not be distracted.

I’m working against the clock, but not fast enough. When the compound is raided, everyone is murdered. Except Giana. There’s no body. I will find her, even if it takes years. And I will stop at nothing to get her back. No price tag is too high to buy her freedom.

I'm going to put a warning here, as this book deals with human trafficking and its aftermath.

The prologue to this book takes us back ten years to when Damon's father and best friend died. We learn Damon has a plan to figure out which of the families his father did business with were into human trafficking. Once he has enough evidence, he intends to get his friend Jagger who is FBI involved or maybe even his bosses. He's also going to speak with his father's best friend's son. He owns a chain of fetish clubs named Roses and Thorns, totally legitimate and all about safe, sane and consensual.

The first chapter is three years ago. Damon is working for Salinardi Romano. He is very protective of his daughter Gemma. While he allows her girlfriends to visit, he doesn't allow Gemma much in the way of freedom outside of their estate. Gemma is twenty, and arguing with her father is one of her favorite thing to do. Then she goes and pouts like a child. Which in some ways she still is, even though she has everything she could ever want she is sheltered and innocent. She's also downright gorgeous, and Damon has noticed but never shows it, people have disappeared for that.

Romano sends Damon for the movie Gemma wants to see, and when he returns something is definitely wrong at the gate. No guards, and then the explosion. On investigating everyone is dead and Gemma is missing.

Chapter two brings us to the present, and Damon is with Robert Suthers owner of Roses and Thorns. The discussion is disturbing as it seems Damon is doing the unthinkable. He's gone off track because he believes he has found Gemma on an auction site. It's too late to back out and let the authorities in on it, he's paid for her.

Damon has to play everything by ear. Gemma has been so brainwashed that it's almost painful for her to show any kind of independence. Damon is taking a rather unique way to help her and falling for her even harder at every turn. When she says her tattoo hurts, he examines it closer and finds there is something hard underneath it. However, the tattoo itself is a concern since it's the logo for Robert's club. Now he has to get more people involved.

Robert, his wife Ella and Jagger are the first she meets. There will be more and there will be a lot of questions as well.

My heart was breaking throughout most of this book. Damon is unwavering in his devotion to Gemma and while his methods are controversial, they are effective. That in itself earns him the support of Gemma's therapist Dr. Carol Langston.

There is suspense, some laughter, lots of tears, romance, devotion and sizzle in this book. I couldn't put it down and I really can't wait to read the next book in this new series.

A wonderful read, great characters and well written story you’ll thoroughly enjoy

I thought this was a simply wonderful read and I guarantee that like me once you start reading the book you will enjoy the boo that much you will not be able to put this book down until you have read the book and discovered the outcome.

Gemma has lived a life where she has had everything she desires and yet she has been under her father’s thumb for all of her life and if anyone ever seems to glance at me for too long a time they seem to disappear.

She has learned to be careful who she gazes at so that they do not disappear and this seems to have assisted most of the time, however not always is she successful.

Damon has a job to do and so he is determined not to fail at what he knows is his duty and as he watches the beautiful Gemma that catches the eye of every male as she walks around her father’s grounds. He knows that he must not under any circumstance allow his eyes to wander, he knows that her father notices everything and deals with those that cross him brutally.

He is working against time and knows that the compound is a dangerous place so the night it is raided and all are murdered the only person they failed to kill was Gemma, her body cannot be found so Damon is determined to find out where she is being held.

He will do anything to see her returned to him and will pay any price asked if that is the only way he can rescue her to his own arms. Read this simply wonderful book and I guarantee that you will enjoy every moment of this wonderful book.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Marigold has one of the best and most caring heroes you can imagine, but be prepared—this is a dark read, darker than much else of Jameson’s oeuvre. That’s because the titular heroine—whose real name is Gemma—has spent the last three years being trained to be a mindless slave to her owner’s sensual demands. Damon was working undercover at Gemma’s home when her life was destroyed and she was taken. He’s spent three years searching for her, only to find out the only way he can get her out of her situation is to become her owner.

So Marigold starts with a heroine in a very dark place, and the book covers the story of her beginning of a return to normalcy. She grows in confidence and in trust for Damon, but it requires some unusual methods on his part to reassure her and to build her comfort. I liked that Jameson didn’t leave them too long on their own (the first part of this book is practically a cabin romance), but she had the story move to logical means to address not only what happened to Gemma but also to the other women in that same “sale.”

Speaking of which—this is the first book in a series, and while there’s a quite satisfying (if somewhat abrupt) ending to Marigold, it’s clear that there are aspects of the story about these women that will be addressed in future books. I’m hoping some of that abrupt end to Marigold (especially regarding the villain) will be addressed in the upcoming books in this series.

I wasn't sure what to expect in Marigold but if Becca Jameson wrote I know I'll love it. This is a bit of a different kind of love story but a romance nonetheless. It's also a study in the resiliency of the human spirit. How we can and do survive by any means necessary even under the cruelest of conditions. There's a bit of a dark undertone to it but at it's heart it's about a man stopping at nothing when it comes to finding the woman who captured his heart years ago. Damon Albertini is a crusader seeking to stop those who commit one of the most heinous crimes, human trafficking. He's devoted ten years of his life to it. The last three of which is spent finding Gemma Romano who was taken from her father's home. She'd been sheltered and protected to the extreme by her father when she was taken. She survived her ordeal but at what cost? She's no longer the flirty, carfree young woman she was. I marveled at Damon's infinite patience, unorthodox methods and gentleness as dealt with Gemma or Marigold as she thought of herself now. Her almost robotic behavior and obvious PTSD is going to take a long time to overcome. Having Damon's love and support certainly makes her journey easier.

This book was amazing! An excellent start to the Roses and Thorns Series! Damon’s father was not a good man, he earned his living by less than legal means. After he dies, Damon is going through his estate and finds information leading to human trafficking. He goes unofficially undercover working for criminals and gathering information on those that may be involved so that he can shut down the trafficking ring. During this time he meets Gemma, the sheltered, naive daughter of Salinardi Romano. When the compound is attacked, Gemma is the only one left alive but she’s taken and sold into slavery. For 3 years she is trained, tortured and brainwashed into Marigold the perfect sex slave.
During these 3 years Damon has devoted his life to finding Gemma and bringing her home. When he finds her, she is damaged emotionally and mentally, believing herself to be Marigold, the slave she was trained to be but Damon knows his Gemma is still in there and he’s determined to love her and help her fight her way back to herself.
This book was amazing! I loved every minute. It does touch on triggering subjects so be mindful of any warnings. I can not wait to read the next book!

I've only ever read Becca's age play books set at Club Surrender or Blossom Ridge. So this book helped me see that I will love whatever she wants to write. Gemma's dad is a criminal boss and keeps her super sheltered. Damon worked for her dad as a bodyguard and they both had a crush on the other. One day while Damon is running an errand the compound is attacked. Everyone is killed except for Gemma who is kidnapped and has been groomed for 3 years to be sex slave. For 3 long years Damon searched everywhere for her luckily he got lucky and found her. After buying her to save her he takes her home to help her heal. Through love, patience and help from friends Gemma starts to come back to life and starts to open up and become more assertive. The only thing that bothers me is the ending, it came super fast and nothing was really tied up. I can't wait to read the rest of the flowers stories to see how they each managed to survive.

"I’ll spend the rest of my life doing my best to be everything you need me to be if you’ll have me, baby." 🥰

I am leaving my honest review for a complimentary copy of this book via the author.

Becca Jameson's new book and series "Marigold" is a dark romance about a woman who is a survivor and a man who did not give up. Damon lost his father and believes he was murdered so when going through hos fathers paperwork he learned about the human trafficking. So he decided to be an undercover informet for the FBI to put a stop to it. When undercover he meets the daughter of one of the arms dealers. When one day the compound was raided by another criminal and who killed everyone but the daughter Gemma. She was taken. Years later after searching Damon found her, he searched for 3 years. She was being sold as a slave. So to save her he buys her. He does everything in his power to show her she is safe, not a slave and that she's a survivor even through unconventional ways. But that helped her. I truly had many feelings when reading this book for it shows a darkness but also shows strength to move forward. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I recommend this book.

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Marigold . This is the first book in the new series Roses &Thorns . Its absolutely spectacular . Ten years ago Damon Albertini working undercover to gather information that could help the FBI to stop some of the people involved in human trafficking . He secretly fell for Gemma Romana the daughter of Salinardi Romano a ruthless criminal . Before Damon could deliver the information to the FBI the entire compound was murdered and someone kidnapped Gemma . Damon spent three years searching the dark web and everywhere for Gemma . He found her on a sex slave trafficking auction and won the bid . He has his work cutout for him to get her to safety and get her the therapy she needs not to mention stop the traffickers . I could not put this story down it is a sensational story . Looking forward to more in the series . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

🌼Age Gap
🌼Forced Proximity
🌼BDSM
🌼Romantic Suspense

Marigold is the first book of the Roses and Thorns series of interconnected standalones. This book was heart wrenching and my heart was hurting for both Gemma and Damon. Gemma was kidnapped for human trafficking 3 years ago and Damon worked for her father at the time. He has spent the last three years looking for Gemma. Once he finds her and gets her back their journey is an emotional roller coaster for both of them. I absolutely loved Damon and how patient he was with Gemma. Gemma might be broken but he will do anything in his power to put her back together again. I could not put this book down! I read a little bit of their story in the Bite of Pain anthology and had to know more about them. There are a lot of triggers so please check the warnings before reading. I can’t wait to read more of this series and get the other girls’ stories!

Damn, this was an amazingly good book.

Genna was kidnapped and sold into slavery 3 years ago. Damon just missed getting killed in the raid that killed Gemma's (very criminal) father and ended in her abduction. Damon has been undercover trying to get evidence to link Gemma's father to human trafficking.

Now she was up for sale and Damon bought her -- he was unceasingly trying to find her for three years and then he got a break. The rest of the book is one-step-at-a-time work to get Genna able to function as a person rather than a slave. And to see if Damon and Gemma can have a life together, including a life with consensual kink.

This is an intense and DARK book. While erotic, it is not a work of erotica. My only complaint is that the ending is WAY too abrupt. I am sure the details will be filled in in later books in the series, but the last scene was too damn tidy.

But basically a really intense and wonderful book.

DNF @ 68%

This book had some things that were very specific triggers for me but that was only a small contributing factor in deciding to DNF this book. My main issue was that I couldn't stand Damon as a character whatsoever. I wanted to scream at him to stop making Gemma's trauma about him. I could say more about this issue in particular but it would only lead me to aimlessly ranting, which isn't exactly useful. I also felt like we were supposed to view him as this vigilante style hero but even at almost 70% through, I just felt like that was something we were being told but not actually shown. In addition, I didn't enjoy Becca Jameson's writing in this a much as I usually do. But this review should be taken with a grain of salt because I wasn't able to force myself to finish the last 30%.

This is the first in a new series from the author and it's obvious from the start that it will be much darker than her usual stories, dealing with human trafficing. I really liked how Damon continued to search for Gemma, and I liked how the story dealt with Gemma's ongoing trauma. I really liked this story - until I didn't. While Damon and Gemma's story doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it does finish abruptly and it left me feeling like there were things brushed over in order to get to the finish line. Also, there is an overarching storyline, so while there's no cliffhanger, there's also no feeling of completion. It could be that Marigold is just a stepping off point for the series and it will continue to improve as we read more, but this book left me just a bit disappointed.

I've known about Becca Jameson's books for several years now and recently got into reading her huge back list of them. This book could possible have triggers for some so be careful.
Damon is determined to find Gemma after everyone at the compound was k!lled. She was taken and he has searched for her for 3 years. Now that he found her, the work begins. Yes, this has human trafficking involved but the story is so well written that I couldn't put it down. It takes time for Damon to help her but there is still danger. Can he protect her? Will she ever trust anyone again? I can't wait for the next book in this new series!!!

HOLY COW what a book! This book was dark but oh so good. There is human trafficking and other nasty stuff in it. So bypass if that is a trigger. The book starts off with death which leads to revenge which leads to a mission. Damon searches for years for Gemma but once he finds her, she is not the light person she was. She has been "trained" and he takes it upon himself to undo that training. To give her back the life that was taken from her. What starts off in hell becomes hope. While there is a HFN at the end, I think the HEA will come later in the series. After the other women are found and whoever kidnapped Gemma is found.

Great book, Becca Jameson just keeps getting better.

Most of the author's books take place in the BDSM world but this is the first book in a new series where the women are victims of sexual slavery. Plotting is tight and characters are well-developed and sympathetic. There is the sense that by the end of the 6th book, there will be justice for these women. Editing is professional for those of us who prefer good grammar, syntax, and spelling (sorry but poor editing really bothers me.)

Damon has worked undercover to bring Gemma's father to justice when the compound is attacked and everyone, but Gemma is dead. She has been kidnapped and it takes Damon 3 years to find her. When he rescue's her he has a time getting her past her ordeal. Damons loves for her shows with his patience with her and her PTSD and trying to stop the human traffickers. This is about surviving, love, suspense and strength but at times it was hard to read.

Damon has been searching for Gemma for three years after she disappeared from the camp ground that everyone else was killed at. He’s looking and finally found her but she’s been human trafficked and has a horrible experience to get over and work through. He’s determined to help her but it’s going to be a hard and long journey but he’s determined to help her. But will he find those responsible and shut it down? Great story about Damon and Gemma (Marigold), The main characters were great together , Damon has to really teach Gemma some things since she was rescued by him after being taken and held for 3 yrs by Human Trafficking men. The Book has some very Dark Elements to it and also involves Human Trafficking, but I still enjoyed the story. The author will have 5 more books in the series . Can’t wait to read the next book

I really, really liked this. Way more than I was expecting to. I might pick up the rest of the series.

I took off one star cause there were two personal icks for me. The 12 year age gap seemed unnecessary and the excessive use of “baby” as a pet name. I just don’t like pet names in general, especially baby, and the fact that they met when the MCs were 19 and 32 was just skirting on uncomfortable for me.

Oh my gosh was this intense!

Let me tell you, I absolutely adore Damon! And Gemma, man the strength!

Ms. Jameson this story was high octane, high intensity, amazing love story! I couldn't / wouldn't put it down until the very last word!

What Gemma endured! Damon's tenacity, his patience, his amazingness!

Damon's friends!

I absolutely F'loved it!

Gemma and Damon’s story is fraught with suspense, forbidden love, and determination. For those not in the BDSM world, it humanizes the Dom and shows they can set aside their proclivities to help others adjust in extreme circumstances. I’m pretty sure I fell in love with Damon because of his love, devotion and concern for Gemma!

Wow, just wow

I admit this book has been sitting in my TBR pile for a little while, but I’m so glad I read it. When I say I devoured this book 🥵. The author had me locked in and addicted in no time. ( I finished the book in one day and I’ve already downloaded book 2) With such well written characters and gripping story lines I can’t wait to see what is in store for this series.

This book has a lot of dark topics abduction, HT, trauma and abuse. I did like this book about an FBI informant looking for a young woman he was attracted to when he was investigating her dad. He did not stop searching for three years until he found her and bought her. 3.5/5 stars I will continue with the series.

Gemma and Damon’s story had a little of everything, Mafia, sex trafficking, age gap. It’s very dark so if you don’t like dark this is not for you.

A very good, suspenseful read

I enjoyed the book very much. I will say that the ending is abrupt. Of course, the series will continue with the other women’s stories and likely the thread of who the bigger fish is that’s responsible. Nicely done.

Overall the book had a good story line. It was well written. Personally I am not a fun of third person perspective books but the writing helped improve the sense of really being in the book. I felt the story was cut short at the end. Hopefully the rest of the series fills in the gabs!

This touched on the uncomfortable and dangerous world of human trafficking. Trigger warnings are a must! If only all real life stories could have an ending such as Emma’s. Great read, but highly sensitive in some areas of the story.
