Ride a Storm

Rate this book
Dace Stanton was just a cowboy...

A cowboy who was his own man. A cowboy who knew he wanted nothing to do with the fiery Cadence Copperthorne, or her job offer or her fancy-pants show jumping.

But Cadence was determined to hire him anyway. A tragic accident had already ended her career in show jumping, and she wasn't about to lose this fight. Not when Dace was the only man who could ride her horse, Storm Warrior, and make her dream come true. Especially since dreams were the only things she had left....

4 1/2 Stars ~ In a split second, Cadence's career in show jumping and her dream of Olympic gold was tragically taken from her. Storm had been spooked on that last obstacle and veered to the side, sending Cadence flying, her hip crushed beneath the weight of the horse. She'd had to face up to her new limitations, no riding, limited love making, no children, her natural grace replaced with a repulsive limp. No one would want her, especially not the fiancé who walked away from her broken body.  Home on her father's ranch, she'd been mesmerized by a cowboy on a cow horse, racing the wind flat out - man and horse so totally in tune it was sheer beauty to watch. And when rider and horse soared over the paddock fence, a rage of envy stirred in her, that he had something that she had lost.

Dace's life had few moments of pure pleasure.  Feeling at complete harmony with his horse and soaring over that fence was one of those moments.  He was surprised when Cade asked him to train as a show jumper and ride Storm for that elusive gold.  Dace liked ranching, but the thought of riding Storm in competition called out to his natural passion for horses. Plus the higher wage would see him getting his own ranch back on track much sooner. The only hitch was Cade's rough edges over her handicap and her spitfire attitude that made him want to taste her passion and ignite with his own.

Ms. Wilder has always given me a romance filled with dramatic intensely emotional moments.  In this romance, both hero and heroine have deep sorrows that have kept them from living life to the fullest. Their common passion for horses brings them together.  With sparks flying because both have strong personalities, these two begin to realize they are soul mates. This is a story that will grip you and pull you in, a perfect couple of hours of romance escape.
