For the second year in a row, I am starting off with a kid’s story that I missed as a kid. Fun new tradition.

This book is obviously aimed at the youngest of readers so there isn't a whole lot of story in this. It's cute and fluffy about all the different kisses there can be. The illustrations are nice and the book ends happily.

This book was OK. It is aimed at younger children, lower KS1 I'd say. It shows that anyone can kiss anyone, and that it doesn't matter what your size, who you are or where you live. I wasn't too keen on the rhyming though 'noses, toes-es, supposes', and the book didn't seem to flow that well; it was rather disjointed. Also, seeing as it is called 'The Biggest Kiss', the final conclusion is about the best kiss, and the biggest kiss is a passing comment during the story.

It would be a nice book to read in a family setting, but for the purpose of reading to a class of children I can't really see it working. There are elements you could cover in class - like is it possible for worms to kiss? Do they have lips? Do you need lips to kiss? Where would you have to travel to to find each animal mentioned? Simple examples of rhyming. The illustrations are beautiful, just like other books in the simonandschuster collection, and helps bring the text alive. If this book wasn't bought for me, I wouldn't go out and purchase it for use in schools. The concept behind it is nice, just not for the purpose I was thinking of.

I actually wanted to like this book more than I ended up liking it. One thing the books gets right is the incredibly cute illustrations. I wasn't really too keen on the rhyme or the story itself. The rhyme felt choppy to me and didn't flow nicely like I had expected it to and I was maybe slightly disappointed tha the book was called The Biggest Kiss.....when in fact it wasn't about the biggest kiss, but the best kiss. This one was just ok.

Another book from the publisher of ‘Dogs don’t do Ballet’ (Simon and Schuster) and the design features are of the same fabulous quality – beautiful paper, stunning illustration and extras such as a prettily patterned inside spread. I adore the style of these books and want to look through them again and again. – If children feel the same then this is obviously a huge advantage in developing a love of books in children and turning them in to avid readers.

Judi Abbot’s illustrations are witty and humorous with cute characterisations. ‘Cute’ is not a term I often use but it does apply to this book, from the title, to the metallic pink hearts on every page and ultimately to the story. This is a book full of kisses! The little penguin featured on the cover can be found on every page describing all the different kinds of kisses he’s had….and he has been kissed a lot! It’s light-hearted and frivolous, full of silly rhyme and some nonsense words. I couldn’t help but smile as I read it.

It could be used for developing language and KUW in the foundation stage. It portrays a wide range of different animals, habitats, seasons, body parts and mathematical language (tallest, smallest etc.) however I feel it is simply a wonderful carpet time story – a book that should be read for pleasure.

This is a brilliant story to engage young children with. As the teacher reading it you could exaggerate kissing noises and get the children to copy you. I think they would find it incredibly funny and enjoyable.

The story questions whether specific animals like to kiss, or how in fact they are able to, for example; ‘Do worms kiss underground?’ This would provide opportunities to ask your class open ended questions and allow for discussions around, for example, whether they think worms do kiss underground and why. The author continues to describe kisses on the elbow and on the tummy. Encouraging the children to try to kiss their elbows and their tummies would provide plenty of opportunities to create laughter in your classroom!

This book provides a perfect opportunity to explore with young children the benefits of positive physical contact with others as a major part of their social and emotional development. Also, it could lead to their greater understanding of parent-child relationship dynamics.

The biggest kiss is a simple children's book that doesn't seem to have a rythym to the rhyme. The rhymes don't match up at times and the flow is awkward. The ending is pretty cute, but overall I'm not too crazy about this book. Both my son and toddler don't seem to have much interest in it either.

While this is a cute little read for children under 3, I think it also depends on the setting as I don't think it would fit in well with a classroom.

A celebration of kisses showcasing animals big and small in sweet moments. Great read aloud for PreK-2 with sweet pictures that reminded me of the illustrations on greeting cards.

A cute book about all of the different types of kisses that exist in the world, including the biggest kiss of all...
There isn't much of a story, but this would be a fun one to read with a little one, particularly if they act out the sound effects of the different kisses.

Colorful illustrations as little penguin learns about kisses, including "some kisses are misses, they land on the ear or near. There are also illustrations for the kiss of rain and the kiss of snow.

I have to give it a 5 star because my son loves it so...much. I read it to my son with real kisses going with the pages. And we read it over and over.
