Everything Changes is Alex’s POV of Tempted. This novella gives some insight into Alex’s character (who is bisexual) and his psyche during his summer fling with his best friend, James (heterosexual friend he’s been in love with for years) and James’ wife, Anne (he fell in love with her in Tempted). I loved Alex in Tempted and though his character is riddled with arrogance and flaws, there’s also a vulnerability that not only was endearing but broke my heart, too. He just wanted to be loved and accepted for being himself. I also gained a little more respect for his character, too. I was glad he stayed strong at the end of the book and didn’t allow James to ruin their friendship, which meant everything to him, because of James’ own lack of self awareness and stupidity.
In, Tempted, I never cared for James (Alex’s best friend and Anne’s husband). After reading this novella, I can honestly say I hate his character. He is selfish, careless, spineless and oblivious. He doesn’t know who he is or what he wants. Actually, that’s not true. He wants to dabble in the forbidden without acknowledging his sexuality (he’s straight) or suffer the damaging and long lasting consequences of adding another to his marriage bed just to have his cake and eat it too. Stupid, stupid man. I do believe James truely loves Anne and even Alex, in his own way, but his self absorption and lack of self awareness caused nothing but heartache and pain for the three of them. That said, both Alex and Anne agreed to the ménage relationship so they shoulder blame, too.
After finishing this book, my heart ached a little for Anne and Alex. They fell in love but knew a relationship would never work because of the situation. After finishing the first book and then this one, it’s sadly obvious Anne will never be fully and truly happy with James. She knew choosing to staying with him, it meant a marriage with love, and they did love each other, but also a marriage with complacency and monotony. But don’t feel too bad for her. She admitted in Tempted that though she loved James, she never yearned or burned for him the way she did her first love and Alex. She also fully admitted that she’d always withheld a portion of herself from James that she freely gave to Alex. So, all things considered, she deserves the marriage she has.
Anyway, I feel this book is a must read for those who want to understand the complexities and enigma that is Alex. It will help give you insight into his actions in, Tempted, but more importantly, it will help you understand him better in his own book, Naked.
For those wondering, there is no ménage what’s so ever in Naked. It’s a good love story with a wonderful heroine.
Note: This cover is very deceiving. This book contains menage scenes (not really my cuppa) but no m/m. It was obviously used as a marketing tool and a very deceptive one at that! Also, this series ebooks are very expensive to buy. $7:99 on Amazon. Luckily I was able to find the ebooks at the Library. I would have never read them otherwise.

I've just finished this and have to confess that this story has left me speechless, that's really the only way to describe the intensity of the emotion that pours through these pages. Anyone who's read Tempted will know the story of Anne Jamie and Alex, this is their story told by Alex. If your read Tempted and loved it you have to read this. Once again the story told in Tempted has come back with full force and more, and my heart is breaking for all of them!

Initial reaction: Ahh, this is one of those times when I wish a companion short story would've been incorporated into a main novel because it clarified a few things, but not nearly enough. It manages to stand on its own to a degree.
This short story/novella was penned from Alex Kennedy's perspective during the events of Megan Hart's erotic novel, "Tempted." I appreciated the eye of insight from Alex's perspective, and the steamy scenes were well written, but in the end, for me, it still felt like a few things were missing development wise.
I'm content to have this as a bridge to Hart's follow-up novel "Naked", though.

I still can't believe I read this almost four years ago and still haven't written a full review on it, but nonetheless, that's getting remedied right now. I did like "Everything Changes" - not just the first time I read it, but in re-reading it for the present year. I liked following Alex Kennedy for the most part in "Tempted" and this short. this book actually takes place during pertinent times when he's in a relationship with Jamie and his wife Anne. If anything, Megan Hart does a great job with establishing character intimacy, whether it's sensuality or just getting an idea of whom the character is in their mindset and life. This short story does a little bit of retracing through events in "Tempted", but it doesn't overwhelm or overtake the story for what it chooses to showcase on its own.
This little short also explains why Alex has the Hello Kitty pajama bottoms in the first place. I always thought that was a cute quirk to remember him by, but if you read about how they were given to him - it wasn't in good context. =/ Alex has commitment issues and it's complicated by the relationships he's had here. That overarching theme is something that's explored in "Tempted", this story, and "Naked". But even further, Alex finds himself the third wheel in the relationship here - and that's something I noted was a parallel with respect to another work of Hart's - "The Space Between Us."
Overall, I liked this story as a bridge between the two full novels and how it gave me a chance to learn about Alex Kennedy's character more, though I wonder how this would've fared if incorporated into the events of "Tempted", rather than as a stand alone.

Portada engañosa donde las haya. Si (como yo) estáis buscando el refrote perdido entre Alex y Jamie (a-arfs), os adelanto que no lo vais a encontrar xD la novella es una vuelta sobre Tempted desde el POV de Alex.
Está bien escrito y los personajes tienen profundidad, una lectura muy agradable. Aunque hay una cosa que no me cuadra en toda esta historia: Alex, hijo, te andas con remilgos a la hora de O.o Mi no entender.

A very condensed version of Tempted, only now through Alex's eyes.
Warning: A lot of mentioning of Tempted ahead, so if you haven't read it and you're planning to, you should probably not read this.
Everything changes. My thoughts about Tempted in particular. I went into it believing it was just the first part of the story about Anne, Alex, and Jamie. This definitely fooled me, so Tempted didn't have a an impact on me as it would have had had I known Tempted was all Anne, Alex, and Jamie would get. Reading some of the scenes from that book again, now from Alex's perspective made that perfectly clear.
My expectations and hopes those three would make it work are long gone. I'm over it. Alex found his place with someone else, and I'm happy for him. After everything that happened in Tempted/Everything Changes, and everything that happened to him before, it was long due. I still do kind of wish Anne had dumped Jamie's sorry ass, and went with Alex, but that's because I've grown to like Alex even more after Everything Changes, and Jamie--if I didn't dislike him before, I do now. I used to think he was bi, at least when it came to Alex, but too much of a douche to admit it, but now I think he's more of a spoiled brat, his mother's golden boy who couldn't stand his best friend was spending time screwing other men, and not making the moves on him, because how could anyone not want him? I don't understand anything about his actions, not now, not ever. He was toying with both his marriage and friendship with Alex. Idiot. My heart broke for Alex, but he's better off without them. Well, without Jamie and his mother, at least.
Also, no matter how much I like the cover, it's misleading: the three main characters did share a bed, but Alex and Jamie never touched like that, or at all for that matter. And what little intimacy Alex and Jamie shared here was... I don't even know what it was. I just blamed it on Jamie's stupidity.
Alex is a dear character to me, and I've enjoyed reading about him through the perspective of two different women who have loved him. This was good, too, but not nearly enough to satisfy my curiosity. To be honest, it didn't provide much information about Alex's character. Even after this, he still has an air of mystery surrounding him. It was nice seeing some past scenes through his eyes, and some new ones, ones that didn't involve Anne, but my favorite is the last one, for now I knew it really was the last one.

Kissing someone isn’t the same as being kissed. It is still a kiss I know. The mechanics are the same: his tongue intertwines with yours, you feel his breath merging with yours, your lips touch, yet it is different, being kissed feels different.
Reading about Alex, Anne and James from Anne’s POV in Tempted wasn’t the same as seeing the same story through Alex’s eyes. Everyting was familiar, yet different. I'm glad that Megan Hart didn't give him this voice in Tempted. It wouldn't be right. He deserved his time. Megan owed it to us. I loved Alex in Tempted. I knew from the start of their “little summer fling” that his time with Anne and James as the apex of a triangle was limited and doomed. Yet I couldn’t but hold my hand over my mouth to keep my sobs quiet when she came to say good bye…and I had done that. I had gone to let him go, and I’d done that, too. It was not a happy ending of the sort in fairy tales, but it was the only one we had.
“Be happy,” I whispered to the water.
And he was watching her from his hotel room standing in the water.
It was the end and he couldn’t decide if the truth had been worth telling. All he knew was that it was time to go. Because sometimes doing what was best for someone you loved was more important than taking care of yourself. Because sometimes the things that were never meant to last were what ended up mattering the most.
Because sometimes even a door that’s always been open has to close.
But I’m not closing the door on Alex I’m seeing him in Naked soon.

A look at events that happened in Hart's Tempted from Alex's point of view. Written in broad strokes without much detail and very little emotion, this short piece didn't do much for me personally except to reiterate my initial thoughts about Jamie and Anne as two self-centered people who use and hurt Alex to please themselves. A sad story that I did not find erotic -- that goes for Tempted as well as Everything Changes. Also note that the cover with two males on the cover is extremely misleading.
However, I would say that this book is a "must" read for fans of the narrator, Alex, and the book Tempted.

What a fabulous follow up to Tempted!! Tempted was one the most 'real' books I have read in a long time! A real look into why the fantasy of a third person in a relationship should stay just that, a fantasy!! This short story was Alex's point of view, and it was very insightful! I love Alex and this story gave you a little better view into Alex's head! I cannot wait to start Naked, bring on more Alex!

I just read grim erotica. The entire 75 page novella was so tinged with bittersweet emotions and sadness that I read the blurbs for the other books in this short series wondering if there was any happiness in them. Perhaps in the one following this, but it didn’t sound like it. How can this super hot, intelligent and decent guy not find some humor or laughs? The MF couple in this triangle were humorless, too. I don’t expect constant chuckles, but who doesn’t smile or laugh in bed? This guy, Alex. What a sad little book! Too bad I’ll be remembering his character with no smile.
Note: I didn’t intend to read this. I saw an unknown author to me, Megan Hart, and read the first few chapters available in the MFF book that I saw at a website. Amazon wants $6.99 to read it and that, along with the KU increase, had me saying, “No, thanks, Jeff!” The Alex Kennedy novella was free at KU so I read it. The other book was depressing, too. I guess that’s a hallmark of this writer? The first review I read here for the novella mentioned the price at Amazon for this writer’s works. I thought that was a coincidence.

This was really good being able to read this story from Alex's point of view. I was hoping for a little bit more action, but it was still pretty good. I am looking forward to reading Naked!

After finishing Tempted, the story of Anne, Jamie, and Alex's three-way romance that held unexpected emotional, somewhat twisted depths - I was left so unsatisfied by knowing only Anne's perspective throughout the book. Sure, Anne as a character I was committed to, and I cared about the resolution she received, but what about Jamie? What about Alex? WHERE WAS THEIR RESOLUTION?!?!
Cue book 2, this book, where we get to hear Alex's side of the story, from inside his own head. And for all the lack of emotion that Alex displayed in Tempted - such a lack of emotion that he clearly was hiding - well, this book really delivered. Yes, indeed, Alex felt a lot. Clearly he is conflicted about Jamie - he fools himself about it, but less than Jamie does. He is not as conflicted about his feelings for Anne, although he refuses to steal his best friend's wife... as we know after finishing the first book.
This is a short little satisfying book. It definitely whetted my appetite for book 3 - Naked where supposedly Alex gets his very own love story, instead of being a pawn in someone else's.

It has some brief M/M action which is physical but completely devoid of emotion... it's definitely part of Alex and it deserves a place in this book. But Megan Hart has a way of writing erotica (is it really erotica? I don't think so) that draws such a clear distinction between love and sex, and you always know which one or two of those is in the room at any given point. Her writing is so very aware of those distinctions. It's a distinctive trait.
Once again, I applaud Megan Hart while at the same time giving her stink eye for making me feel so conflicted!

I am simply crushed all over again by "Everything Changes." Megan Hart has completely captured me and made me fall in love with a storyline that I never thought I would get into. I am into this. Big time!!
Not gonna lie . . . I just logged into Amazon and damn near bought every last book Megan Hart has ever written after reading this one. I am so impressed with her writing style, her narrative voice, her punctuation, her flawless subject/verb agreement. The confident ease with which she writes hooks me in. I love her. Megan Hart is this English Major's wet dream. That woman can write.
Book 1 was an emotional roller coaster and while Book 1.5 wasn't quite the ride of Book 1 (duh, you already know the ending), it filled in some gaps for me. It cemented my theory that Jamie and Alex belong together but that circumstances such as youth, growing up, marriage, denial, and now sanctioned marital shenanigans, has kept them apart.
I understand that Book #2, "Naked," is where Alex finds love, but I am praying there will be Book #3 (there is definitely a Book #3 in my perfect fairy happy land) where Alex and Jamie have a chance at a HEA, so that something good can come out of all the realness that went down in Books 1 & 1.5. The two men are the real love story here. To me, Anne was just the vehicle for the two dudes to get from the "Friend Zone" to the "Friends Who Do Other Fun Stuff in the Same Room Together Too" Zone. Jamie might not be gay with other dudes, but he is madly in love with Alex and this Megan Hart Fangirl thinks they deserve a chance at happiness.
This was a quick, fantastic read. But it was also like watching "Titanic" for the 87th time (yep, that's me). You don't want it to sink, but you damn well know it's gonna.
p.s. It is so rare for me to give 5 stars to a non-HEA book, but damn if I don't love Alex and his POV. I kept my rating of "Tempted" at 4 stars only because Anne's POV just pissed me off!! I don't like her much.

Book 1 was an emotional roller coaster and while Book 1.5 wasn't quite the ride of Book 1 (duh, you already know the ending), it filled in some gaps for me. It cemented my theory that Jamie and Alex belong together but that circumstances such as youth, growing up, marriage, denial, and now sanctioned marital shenanigans, has kept them apart.
I understand that Book #2, "Naked," is where Alex finds love, but I am praying there will be Book #3 (there is definitely a Book #3 in my perfect fairy happy land) where Alex and Jamie have a chance at a HEA, so that something good can come out of all the realness that went down in Books 1 & 1.5. The two men are the real love story here. To me, Anne was just the vehicle for the two dudes to get from the "Friend Zone" to the "Friends Who Do Other Fun Stuff in the Same Room Together Too" Zone. Jamie might not be gay with other dudes, but he is madly in love with Alex and this Megan Hart Fangirl thinks they deserve a chance at happiness.
This was a quick, fantastic read. But it was also like watching "Titanic" for the 87th time (yep, that's me). You don't want it to sink, but you damn well know it's gonna.
p.s. It is so rare for me to give 5 stars to a non-HEA book, but damn if I don't love Alex and his POV. I kept my rating of "Tempted" at 4 stars only because Anne's POV just pissed me off!! I don't like her much.

This is Alex's point-of-view of the book "Tempted", where Alex engages in a three-way affair with his best friend James and James' wife Anne. It's a novella - a bit more than a short story, but not a full blown book.
To clarify, there is no m-m action, but it's obvious that James is using this three-way that he came up with as a substitute. Seeing Alex have sex with his wife (all but actual penetration) is almost as good as having sex with him (James); except that James will never admit it. He's not willing to, even though he makes a couple of attempts to kiss Alex. It seems as if James might be OK with it - maybe even brush it all off as a heat-of-the-moment kind of thing. But Alex is very careful not to cross that line. And that's what makes James' "rules" about what kinds of sexual activities that Alex can do with Anne a bit strange; James doesn't want Alex and Anne to go all the way with any type of penetration. Except that Alex and Anne are left alone during the day together - a lot. And James is very trusting that they'll follow his rules when he's not around. To their credit, they do.
In "Tempted", it was ambiguous whether we could completely trust Alex or his motives. Anne wasn't sure, herself. And the bittersweet ending left a lot up in the air. In "Everything Changes", we still have the same bittersweet ending, but we're assured of Alex's part in all of this. We know that while he loves James/Jamie, he would never do anything to jeopardize that friendship; and in agreeing to James' idea of this three-way affair for the summer, Alex just thought it was a convenient way to be with his BFF. Except that Alex fell for Anne - and hard - and almost right away.
It's odd to see Alex, the guy we're led to believe is a slut/manwhore and a cad, be the guy with the conscience. The one to walk away.
But he is. And he did.

I should start out by saying that if you plan to read this short story, you should definitely read Tempted first, otherwise you might be a little lost b/c large parts of the story are omitted in this short story--told from Alex's point of view.

I was really glad to read Alex's Pov.... The real story here, besides the actual attraction between the two guys. Is that Alex has never had a real relationship with a woman beyond sex. His heart opened up and its tragic that they can't be together, they can see into each others soul. Jamie and Anne do really love each other and have a great relationship, but there is something lacking and he can't see when he doesn't notice small things that he should. Plus Jamie wants to have a threesome just so he can vicariously get close with Alex. I think their marriage is worth staying with, but if she were selfish, she would definitely go with Alex. They have a deep, hot attraction that is killing me. I definitely think Alex is bi. and wish they could all just make it work in a fantasy world... not the real world of kids, families etc.. I don't know if I can read Naked... will it ruin the story for me that he ends up with someone else?? I need input here!!

This novella consisted of the scenes between Jaime and Anne from Tempted, only from Alex's point of view. I don't feel like it really gave me any more insight into Alex's character. It was as if Ms. Hart told me things already knew. I guess I'm saying that she did such a nice job in Tempted, even though that book was soley from Anne's point of view, of telling us the nuances of Alex's character. I was disappointed. I really wanted Jaime and Alex to hook up. I felt like it was unfair for Alex to take Anne to bed, but not Jaime. Jaime has clearly been in love with Alex for a very long time. I understand why Alex didn't sleep with Jaime, but it still made me feel like I was missing something. Neither Tempted nor this novella gave me a sense of closure. Hopefully, Naked will. Naked it Alex's story. I hope that book will put my mind at ease.

This is a short story and the plot is the same like in Tempted, but it is told from Alex's point of view.
3 stars, because it was just T O O S H O R T and because I craved for that kiss more than anything and in the end it wasn't satisfying at all. It could have been way much better, but some things did become clearer, so you definitely should read it before Naked (Alex's novel.)

Well, while I loved this story, it wasn't what I was hoping for. I was hoping that Alex had his own happy version of this three-way love affair. Alas, that is not what we get in this "other person" view of Megan Hart's novel, Tempted. I hope that she brings back these characters in happy cameo appearences like she has in the past with some of her other characters.
All in all, I loved this book because it let us relive this story a little more, happy or not.

Okay I had such a bleak feeling after finishing Tempted that I was going to find something really fluffy to read to get it out of my brain, but instead I decided to read this little novella to shed some more light on the story. It helped a lot - even though it was still sad, I think it was enough closure on the parts that had been troubling me that I don't feel quite so much like I was punched in the gut - so, yay for that.

This is a short novella that should be read immediately after reading the novel Tempted as it gives Alex's perspective about the entire situation. It really shed a lot of light on the events and why things played out like they did. I have read three Megan Hart novels and this novella...and I will read more!

I read this after TEMPTED otw it would be too short! I knocked off a star because it was a little too short, but it is a novella and I enjoyed it. I guess I wanted more!

I decided to read this short in preparation for Naked, which is Alex's story. This is actually a REALLY summarized version of the story Tempted from Alex's POV instead of Anne's. In Tempted, Alex is invited into his best friend Jamie's bed with Jamie's wife Anne. What none of them expected is the emotional turmoil the ménage would cost all three of them.
I liked that we get to hear Alex's side of the story from Tempted, but I felt like it almost wasn't enough. If you're going to give him a POV, it'd be cool to get some revelations and new information. But there really isn't anything new we learn about the dynamic of the ménage and Alex's feelings that wasn't already expressed in Tempted.
Although I wasn't a big fan of Tempted mostly because of the ending, I also wish I would've just read this right after that book. I remembered everything mostly, but still. If you're wanting to read this, definitely read Tempted first, otherwise a lot of it won't make sense to you.
Overall, this is kind of a nice little addon to Tempted, but nothing real big. We don't get any major news that we didn't get in Tempted. I am really looking forward to Alex's story though. Although, it's interesting that he is going to end up with a woman. Although he's clearly bi, he seemed more gay than straight to me for the most part. But we'll see how it goes!

Anne got up and went into the bathroom without a word. He wanted to call her back, not to make love to her again but to tell her he didn’t want to leave. That even though it was for the best, he didn’t want to go.
“Goodbye, Alex. I hope you’ll be happy.”

This story is a follow up from Alex's point of view from the story Tempted which was from Anne's point of view on the summer escapade when she shared her bed with Alex and Jamie (Jamie being her husband and Alex, Jamie's best friend. It fills in some blanks that Anne wouldn't have been privy to which was Alex's feelings of when they spent the summer together. He spoke of his feelings for Anne as well Jamie and how he would never be with Jamie the way he wanted to because he wanted to preserve his friendship with his best friend. The only one that he loved for so long, until Anne. The only thing that confused me about Alex was how was he so strongly attracted to Anne from the beginning, until as I sit here and type, that Jamie spoke about Anne to Alex during their correspondences and he can get a feel of the woman that Jamie married.

Broken will forever be THE Megan Hart book for me, but...
Honestly, I'm binging every possible book about Alex, Anne, and James. I wish this one was longer, just to draw out the pleasure (or pain). I read somewhere today that Megan Hart is her own genre, and I couldn't agree mkre. Psychological erotica? Seriously, I don't know, but it's just the perfect amount of heart-wrenching romance and blood-boiling lust.
