Byrne proves there are suckers born every minute – and they buy lots of her books. She is the Jimmy Swaggart of literature. She refuses to give interviews. I would too, if I were her. She has nothing to say. Interviewing her would be like watching Barbie think.
The world is lost in a sea of love and light. The Desperati spend billions every year on The Secret and its clones. Visualisation is lovely, but these authors confuse positive thinking with positive action. You can think as much as you like. Nothing will happen unless you do something along with the thinking.
Books like these repeat that we get what we deserve. It follows therefore, that you deserve to be poor, or unemployed or sick. The universe has spoken. I’m tired of these SHAM (Self Help Alternative Medicine) gurus. They harm more than they help. Dying people need support and love, not ridiculous expectations of miracle cures. Poor people need jobs not gibberish about the law of attraction. If this nonsense worked, there would be no sick people and we would all be rolling in money. At least the millions of those who have bought her book would be.
Byrne repeats herself, and writes badly. I particularly enjoyed her babbling on about how people “once lived for hundreds and hundreds of years.” Her references are “ancient texts”. Apparently we no longer do this because, “People changed what they believed.”
I recommend a healthy dose of common sense and the application of the power of reason for Byrne and her readers.

Love is the power!
Everyone who needs positivity or motivational quotes will find them in this book/guide. I found some significant truths about life that I have never really thought about. Some of them are mind blowing and I really appreciate when the author is able to amaze me and make me think about the aspects of the life I have never considered before.

The Power is a 2010 self-help and spirituality book written by Rhonda Byrne, it is a sequel to the 2006 book The Secret.
The Power of the title is the power of love, the mainspring of the universe.

I was really in need to read some motivational books , and this book was a good choice ^^

Okay, so I read this quite a while ago.
I have no idea how his whole Law of Attraction thing is still holding its own. Apparently, it's been so successful that the author decided to write a sequel? Wow .. just wow.
Let me try to count the things that are wrong with this:
One: The fact that the advice in this book is marketed as some big secret when in fact it's not. Not really.If you haven't read this gem let me save you the hassle. The secret is this: "If you think about something you long and hard, it'll instantly manifest itself to you".
This felt especially like a con to me because when I first heard of this book on Oprah(That's two book recommendations from her that sucked, looking at you James Fry..)
well, I spent the whole time trying to figure out what the big secret was.. and that's all the author has to say for herself? just wish for stuff real hard?!
Two: The premise to the book will have you believe that the "universe" will "manifest" your wishes for you just by your wanting them hard enough.(and no,it doesn't sound less Hocus Pocusey when you read it yourself) But then there's advice that tells you to start taking action towards achieving your wishes.
do you mean, work for what I want?!! Another mind blowing bit of advice!
Could this be just another self-help-get-your-ass-off-the-couch type book in disguise? Hmmm..??!!
Three: The way there are two distinct volumes practically advertising the same thing. We get it, lady. You've suckered a whole lot of people and you're a millionaire now. do you really need to keep living the lie?
Four: The ridiculous way these books claim that people who aren't rich or don't have a brand new car are only that way because they're sabotaging themselves with negative thinking. How dare she, really??
This is the sort of capitalist propaganda that's designed to keep the working class from realizing they've been screwed over by the government and the small circle of rich people who benefit from the poor remaining poor.
also, is cancer a product of negative thinking? how about if I'm killed in a drone strike in a third world country? did I bring that upon myself with my negativity as well?
Finally: Any successful person who tells you they got where they are by being positive and wishing really hard is yanking your chain. End of story.
As a matter of fact, they might be deliberately giving you false information to keep you from getting where you want.(that way they have less competition).

I am eternally grateful for this book series and all it has taught me! This is the second instalment in Byrne's 'The Secret's series, that aims to impart the reader with the wisdom and knowledge of the law of attraction. The basis of like returning like (positive thoughts returning positive actions and negative thoughts returning negative actions) was the focus of the first book and this second one is very much the same. This didn't dampen the joy of reading it, however, as I found the style of narrative and the examples used to validate its hypothesis to be as powerful and as entertaining as the former.

This book covers intermediate to advanced "skills" for manifesting The Law of Attraction. It's very good if you're a believer.

There's nothing really new per se in The Power that wasn't already explained in The Secret. But sometimes it helps to have things reiterated a time or ten or to have them explained in a different way. There are also a lot of good techniques provided to make things start to work in your favor. I can understand why some might be disappointed, frustrated with the repetition or expecting something all new, but the truth is that people rarely get it the first time they are exposed to something. And often, they don't get it after being exposed to the same thing numerous ways. Sometimes you need information presented in a new way, using different words, and I felt like that was the point here... to go a bit more in depth on some things, to reword others, to present the material in a new way in order to help fill in the gaps for those who got it and to help those who didn't arrive at their aha moment.

I listened to the audio book, which despite it's potential for cheesiness, I did enjoy. I'm not sure if I would have gotten the same thing out of just reading the book. Hearing Byrne's passion probably helped.
I know some people think "it's nothing new." Of course it's nothing new; there's nothing new under the sun. Yes, it's saying the same thing as The Secret; there's only one thing to say!
I liked the anecdotes; part of me wants to question them and say they're made up, but I know from my own life that things like that happen all the time, so I do believe them.
I think this book did a good job of emphasizing the importance of feeling good feelings. I definitely didn't recognize that before; maybe I would try to think positive thoughts about something I wanted and try not to feel fear, but this book emphasizes the importance of feeling positively all of the time. So now I'm more conscious about any time I have negative feelings, and I try to turn them around.
Definitely worth a listen. Who couldn't stand to think and feel more positively?

این کتاب رو بیشتر از کتاب راز دوست دارم. نویسنده توی این کتابش هم درباره ی راز صحبت می کنه اما بر خلاف راز، در این کتاب از چهارتا آدم درست و حسابی نقل قول آورده شده و موقع خوندنش یاد تبلیغات ماهواره ای گن لاغری و کپسول ترک اعتیاد نیفتادم.
منظورش از قدرت هم، نه قدرتِ شخصی، که قدرت گیتیه. انگار خواسته مسایل فیزیک کوانتوم رو به زبون خیلی ساده توضیح بده.
چیزهایی که در این کتاب آمده به صورت خیلی بهتر در مثنوی و انجیل و دائو هم آمده.

This book is Amazing - wonderful illustrations & presented in a great format. The audiobook is read by the author, has super sound effects featuring the music of Innovators by Kurt Bestor & Sam Cardon. I enjoy listening to this anytime I need an attitude adjustment.
As tattoos, I have the sun symbol from the book cover to represent the power of love & 3 monkeys which hear, see and speak no evil - inspired by reading The Power.
I first read The Power in 2011. I like to re-read at least once a year. This book has influenced my life. Read a record three times in 2020.

This book was exactly what I was expecting. A nice follow-up to The Secret. It just builds upon what was learned in The Secret about the law of attraction. The Power's description states that you don't need to have read The Secret in order to benefit from The Power. I would agree with that, but I think it definitely helps. I honestly believe you get out of life what you put into it, and whatever you put out there comes right back to you. I found this to be a very uplifting, encouraging, and motivational read.

I honestly don't understand why the reviews are so bad for this? Okay so the things that were bad about the book was the repetitiveness. She kept repeating herself and saying the same things again and again. It is also a bit cheesy.
But I do understand how it is true and how it works. I tried the things and I did get what I wanted from it and my life HAS been better since. I KNOW that the things written in this book is not rubbish or Ludacris! I know it is true! I mean people who think this is rubbish must be thick or something! How much more obvious can it be I mean she only stated it about a million times! Everyone wants to be happy right? And there is no other way to be happy than to give out good feelings and be positive and if you only imagine the good outcomes and good things to happen to you they are far more likely to happen and I know this because I understand it and because I have done it and it has happened to me.
All my life I have been so negative and many people have said it to me. This book is what I really needed! My life has gotten a million times better completely due to this book! Things I thought there was no way out of. Literally what I would describe as miracles happened to me. People have said I seem happier and what I mean by happier is actually happy not as it all la la la and "brainwashed".
I don't think it is overexaggerated they way Rhonda describes it as a secret. Okay so yeah it isn't really a huge big treasure that no ones knows. People do know it. But they don't seem to be able realise it and I think this is why Rhonda as made out that it is a secret.Not nearly enough people are acting apon it and it really is an amazing power. Not nearly enough people know it. I think if everyone in the world thought this way, all bad from the world would eliminate itself. There would still be some bad but only minor things that would be easily resolved.
Some people might think that what I am saying it bullcrap but that is just negative thinking! The people that realise this well good for them and as for the people that are too thick to think about it and to realise it well then keep that to themselves I certainly don't think they should go complaining about it on this because they just can't understand it for themselves.
I understand what Rhonda is saying and I know it is true. And look at her? She has so much of what she wants and is a millionare! I too have many examples in my life of how it has worked and of how I am happier, healthier and richer. So if you read this review, and you think the book is rubbish and that it is untrue, I am telling you it is true and that it just hasn't clicked with you and that you should not go complaining about it when you actually havn't got a clue about the book!

This book was life changing and completely amazing. I would suggest it to everyone i know, and who they know, and to anyone who would listen honestly. With this book I have gotten so many things in life that ive wanted, trip to Europe, car, the job i wanted and the pay, and much more. So, i suggest this book to anyone who wants to get all that they want in life :) This book is amazing in every way.

Exactly ten years ago today, January 13, 2023, is the day I signed up for Goodreads. To celebrate my 10-year anniversary, I decided to read one of the books that has been sitting on my TBR since the first day that I joined on January 13, 2013. I’m embarrassed to say this, but I had four options, plus several others that I added to my TBR later that same year. I selected this book, because I wanted to read something inspiring.
There was a lot of repetition and fluff. Most of the content sounded like the author was overexplaining her points without adding a lot of real substance just to fill a book. It’s like when someone writes a book report for an English teacher, and they reword the same content just to reach a required word count, and they hope that the teacher doesn't notice that they're just repeating themselves. I’m still glad that I read this, because it put me in a better mood.

In essence, The Power teaches you how to control your emotions and how to use your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs to create the life that you want.
Basically, you want to think and feel love about whatever you want more often than you think and feel hate. You’re not trying to erase hate and sadness from your life. It’s not toxic positivity. You’re changing your focus and how you perceive the world from a negative lens to a positive lens. The majority of your thoughts and feelings should be love, gratitude, and appreciation. What you put out into the world, comes back to you. Think of a boomerang. Repetition and consistency are key.
You want to pay attention to what you say to yourself or about yourself, because “Whatever you believe and feel is true will be true for you, whether your beliefs help you or harm you. Whatever beliefs you give out, the law of attraction says you must receive back.” If you have a habit of saying things such as, “I struggle with weight loss,” change your inner dialogue. This belief will negate all of your efforts to lose weight, because you’re giving your mind and body instructions to struggle with weight loss. We all know this, but it’s so easy to fall back into our old habits and belief systems.
What I liked about this book was how it got me to think about what I think and how I feel, and how to use that to create the life that I want. It does motive me to some degree, and that’s a good thing. There were also some really good quotes in this book.

I had the prenotion that the so called 'motivational/inspirational' books are basically a clichéd nonsense. After skimming through this one, I can fairly say it didn't disappoint me.
The thing about books aside from its annoying preachy tone and over simplifying things and of course the overall generalization is the fact that the author did not bother to mention why or how 'the power' works.
“Absolutely everything you experience in your life is a result of what you have given in your thoughts and feelings, whether you realize you have given them or not.”
“Life is simple. Your life is made up of only two kinds of things – positive things and negative things.”
Seriously is it really that simple?! do I have that ultimate power of attracting things merely by thinking about it. How much control do we have as human beings when we can barely control our own mind! can we ignore how outer circumstances constrain us and hinder our personal growth? what about fate?
according to this book logic, if I had cancer it's because somehow I attracted it!
Having read about the subconscious/unconscious mind and how our brain function I totally understand where they're coming from. so if you're interested in possessing a real power, start with your subconscious.

I know how Rhonda Byrne and her 'Secret' have been criticized, but seriously people, all the woman is saying is to think positively and be happy and good will return to you. Most of us believe in karma which means if you do good the universe will reward you and if not it will harm you, so this isn't that difficult to believe.
I enjoyed the book, it's uplifting and i think its sending out a very positive message to love everything around you more. The quotes from many great people have supported her effortlessly.. so it must be something that they knew about. Quotes from the leaders of some of the world's largest religions also go hand in hand with what the author is saying - Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. It certainly will not do you any harm!
I would recommend giving this book a try :)

Amazingly wonderful.
A book for Rhonda Byrne; author for the Secret. I haven't read the secret but I think the power conveys the same message that was in the secret, from a different angle.
I heard the audio book and it was amazing, with the author reading her book with passion and love, great production and sound effects, I assure you you are going to love this book.
I believe in the power, and after listening to this book I feel better thinking the way Rhonda was suggesting.
the last chapter, the power and death, was a little bit strange, as it relates to death and after. I also think the author intentionally (or not) didn't quote many Islamic verses from Quran or Hadith. however, she mentioned Mohammed (PBUH) twice.
Highly recommended, if you want the audio book please let me know.

While there are some interesting and useful ideas in this book, most of it is highly problematic. According to the author, it seems to be our own fault if we fall ill, get wrinkles or, you know, simply don't live to eight hundred (yep). You just have to give love and you will live forever in perfect health and beauty, because what you give is what you get, or so she says. Unless you "give a question". The universe will then provide you with an answer. Not sure how that is supposed to work, but physics and logic had already died a long and painful death by that point. Speaking of painful, the writing style also made me wonder how anybody would get something like that past a decent editor. But maybe that's just the power of love at work here? Who knows!

I listen to this whenever I need reminding to stay positive :-) The audiobook features excellent sound effects, including a song from Innovators by Sam Cardon & Kurt Bestor. I remember listening to Innovators in the 90's - everything is connected.
This a powerful book which can lead to life-changing happiness. I like to read/listen to The Power at least once a year. The information presented herein have inspired me to get two different tattoos: one with the power sunburst symbol to represent love and the other of the monkeys that hear, see and speak no evil. Enjoy!

Really loved this book, very much! I can say that if you haven't read "The Secret" before, you won't need to if you read this! It talks about the greatest power of our life, that if we know it and tap into it right, we will be just almighty!
I feel that this book is written with real love, with real joy and not just for mere money.. Loved how Byrne wrote and expressed her feelings and thoughts and situation with "The Power".. though she could just stop repeating the same talk over and over ^^" don't know if it is intended or not though, but I am okay with it nonetheless ^^

It’s based on the law of attraction and claims that positive thinking can create life-changing results such as increased wealth, health, and happiness. I agree with parts of it and believe thinking positively is a start and can help to create life-changing results but on it’s own, it’s not enough.
One section mentions that if you want the perfect partner, you must imagine that the person is truly with you right now; instead of sleeping in the middle of your bed, sleep on one side because your partner is on the other side. I think that’s a bit over the top. Visualisation is important but it’s nothing without hard work and learning from your experiences.

Right now, I'm halfway through The Power and must say that it is a mixture of things I needed to be reminded of and then some things I didn't quite know. There's this focus on love in the book, but in practice it's more about what you like, so it's less effortful than the kind of loving that, for instance, Scott Peck spoke about.
Anyhow, it looks like the key to life here is knowing and feeling what you love. You can't get by on a belief and you can't get by on a feeling, but when you couple a belief with feeling, (and it's not crooked) you have The Power to attract your dream.
I've been testing this out a bit and I think there is something slightly more positive going on in my life as a result. Maybe I'll write a sequel review when I finish the book.

Increíble cómo está mujer llega a conmoverme y a llevar de amor y de magia mi vida con cada una de sus líneas. Siempre le estaré muy agradecida porque su sabiduría ha cambiado mi vida.
