Four short stories and one novella with a regency flavor. A lazy prince and his stiff secretary have long despised each other, but the annual Masque changes everything. Gideon has always led a quiet life, free of scandal, until a carriage accident on his way home one night. Pierce has everything a young man could want - except the secret admirer he knows only through ardent letters. Jude is a notorious rake, but desperately bored...until during a chance encounter he impulsively offers lessons in seduction to an innocent young man. Bartholomew sees a chance to prove himself when his home is terrorized by a Highwayman - but the robber he encounters is nothing like what he imagined.

I loved it! Short and easy to read, but not so short you feel like there is no place for the story development. Fun and sweet, I will surely read this anthology again! The stories are standalones with recurring characters. 5 stars
______

Now I've read it a third time over three years after the first and second times and I still liked it very much. Derr's short stories are lovely, though I do like the fantasy ones more. 4.5 stars
(Can also be found here)

Deceived - 0h, 49min - I liked it very much. The lazy prince and the stuffy assistant both being revealed to be much more.
Scandalalous - 0h 35min - Sweet and short, I loved it. A steamy encounter and between a young lord and a stranger, who then turns out to be the new tutor for his little brother.
From Afar - 0h 35min - Again: sweet and short and I loved it! The little brother not so little anymore, in love with a secret admirer he knows nothing about.
Lessons - 0h 46min - Less plot, but still sweet. I wouldn't have thought so (the premise is not my thing, I like communication and truth), but I really liked it.
The Wager - 0h 32min - Nice short story, though not as good as the others in my opinion. 'Only' 3.5 stars.

Now after Ink & Paper, I was fairly sure I knew what to expect and while that's mostly right I still found myself pleasantly surprised by the stories in this anthology. Each story connects to the one that comes after and I have to say, each is better than the last. While all good, my favorite is most definitely the last story. It surprised even me considering I didn't think the main character look nearly that interesting in the previous story but boy, was I wrong. Intrigue, romance, adventure, angst, drama and a little air of mystery. While not graphic, it's definitely a hidden treasure.

Some stories were better than others. "Lessons" was the best story (5 stars) - amusing, charming and hot; "The Highwayman" - on the opposite site of the spectrum (2 stars) - was too long, tangled, and with unrealistic characters.
This book was released again under the title "Deceived".

Slash regency AU short stories. Everyone is weirdly obsessed with cologne, no one seems very bright (or sexy), and it's all a bit of a let-down. Good ideas poorly executed are so depressing.
