College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was three years old. That’s when her mom started acting weird, refusing to go outside during the day and insisting the sunlight hurt her skin because she had been bitten by a one-fanged vampire…

But fascinated doesn’t mean Leesa believes—any more than she believes in blue fire, people who live for centuries, and kisses that can kill. When her beloved older brother suddenly disappears, she is forced to confront all these and more.

I was going thru some of the books I had downloaded and realized I had downloaded this months ago and thinking to myself what an idiot I hadn’t started reading it sooner. I fell instantly in love with this book. What had I been missing? The story starts out as Judy Nyland being pregnant and coming out of the woods to her sister with blood on her neck from a bite from a one fang vampire. As time went on, Leesa has been born and has heard her mother’s story many times and now seems to show signs of being different. Bradley, her brother and best friend, has moved away to go to college. She has received an email from him that says to never look for him, things have changed. He’s disappeared and she wants to know what has happened. After graduating from high school, she goes out to where her Aunt Janet and Uncle Roger live and begins college. She’s a very shy girl and finally has met a friend by the name of Cali. One of the classes Lessa is taking is about vampires. She has run into Rave, a Maston a couple of times but is taking things very slow with him. There’s a connection she isn’t sure of. A guy by the name of Stefan is now showing up around her but she has been told by Rave he’s a vampire and an unsafe one at that. Stefan knows where her brother is. What is Leesa going to have to sacrifice to save her brother? Can she save him and have a possible life with Rave? What’s going to happen to her mother? I truly enjoyed reading this book. I wish I had started it sooner. Just means I’m going to have to get the following books in this series.

The beginning of the story was intriguing: a one fanged vampire!

The one fanged vampire phenomenon was a great way to catch a paranormal reader’s attention. I mean, who gets bitten by a one fanged vampire? It’s unusual, not unheard of, and definitely not an angle that is used very often in vampire stories so it gives off the impression of some originality. A disabled vampire seems most certainly on the right side of originality…

But, then the rest of the story needs to display the same kind of creativity….

And, in walks disappointment!

For starters, the book was excruciatingly slow and overly redundant.

There were a whole bunch of issues that took this book from having a unique angle to “what the hell is going on here?” I found the plot pattern a little erratic and problematic on a number of levels. I understand that this is the first book in the series and maybe the author was trying to set up for future books but, there was a distinct disunity in how the story was presented. Because the book felt disorganized to me, the best method I have to explain is a detailed list and explanation.

1. There were chronological errors. I was so confused when Leesa spoke to Rave of a cure professor Clerval had mentioned which might help her mother (Page 103 on the Nook version). I kept wondering and searching my thoughts for this phantom conversation I had apparently missed or been too tired to comprehend. I gave up perusing my thoughts because I wasn’t getting anywhere and decided to keep going and see where I ended up. Several pages later (page 110), I got my answer when the conversation actually did take place.

Thank goodness! I wasn’t crazy after all. When Leesa had mentioned the conversation about a possible cure and I was confused, it was because the conversation hadn’t actually occurred yet. For me, this was a significant authorial oversight.

2. Rave and Leesa’s relationship. Rave and Leesa’s characters were by no stretch of the imagination great. They were okay at best mainly because they seemed so underdeveloped. Their relationship seemed incredibly flimsy and rushed. And they each spent a revolting amount of time kissing or recounting their kissing. I like romance but this was the kind of nonsense people go through in early teenage years; it was difficult to read without lots of eye rolling, lip curling, and some internal commentary on the ridiculousness of the whole thing. They didn’t really know each other at all yet, by the third “date” (I use quotes because I’m not sure you can classify their meetings as dates, really) they’re trading secrets and not just any secrets, supernatural secrets. There should have been more apprehension and anxiety behind the reveals but both characters seemed instantly at ease with the knowledge about the other and very willing to accept it. Ummmm….what?

If you, a human, found out on the third date that your boyfriend was a vampire hunter who killed using a strange internal heat, that by the way, could kill you if he lost control kissing you, wouldn’t you be a little concerned?

There was an attempt later in the book to acknowledge such apprehensions but they were so quickly dismissed that it didn’t feel like the characters took it too seriously.

3. Plot Disunity. The individual aspects: Leesa’s mother being bitten by a one fanged vampire before she was born, her brother and her fascination with vampires because of their mother’s story, her brother’s disappearance, Leesa’s need to seek answers regarding her brother’s disappearance, etc. were all necessary pieces of the story. However, these points didn’t unify very well. The initial plot seemed to have been Leesa’s need to search out her brother and what happened to him. However, after 75-80% of the book had gone by, her brother had only been mentioned a handful of times which was odd. The plot changed from finding her brother to a cure for her mother to the impending Destiratu phenomenon that would create an irresistible need to feed for the vampires and likewise, an irresistible need for the Volcaane to hunt. These were all great ideas for a complex plot but they weren’t balanced well and the transitions from one idea to another felt awkward. There just didn’t seem to be a smooth flow of events. It was disconcerting.

I definitely don’t feel the need to continue the series. There are just too many detracting factors.

Scott Prussing Hi y'all Anne here I've just finished reading Breathless, I enjoyed this book. The first few chapters give you a well detailed view and introduction to all the characters that will play a main role in the book. The characters are beautifully flawed like real people they don't project a perfect life or life style. They truly are realistic with their struggles in life with a paranormal twist tossed in..
Leesa a shy and loving girl recalls past stories her mother told of a one fanged vampire who attack her while pregnant. While Leesa is faced with special circumstances she never slowed her life down she took her hurddles in life and ran with them. Her brother, also her role model went away to college keeping his promise to always communicate Leesa became distressed when his emails took a dramatic turn and she stopped hearing from him after his last depressing email. On her way to the same college where her brother disappeared, Leesa discovers a whole world she had only heard about in her mothers out ragious tales. Rave is a guy unlike any other but so is Stefan.. Both of these guys take an immediate intrest in Leesa which she finds obserd given both guys are gorgeous.
After being hurled into a world where not only vampires exsist but there are other new races of paranormal she never could have imagined. Rave or Stefan, who should she choose when both are equally deadly. Leesa sets goals for herself to find out all she can about her missing brother and finds all her answers in all the wrong places. She is forced to make a decision that will save her brother but will break her heart at the same time.. When all is said and done a twist of fate brings the end to a staggering conclusion no one could have seen coming and leaves the budding relationships and family wide open for a mind blowing sequel!!
I recommend this book for all vampire lovers who wanna new and crazy taste of breeds never presented in any other series.. Well done with Breathless I can't wait for the next book to come out and see where we go next!!!

It was okay. It was slow in some parts and a little TOO descriptive in others. The first thought in my head during one part was... "This isnt some Twilight wannabe, is it?" The stories kinda paralleled for a bit there.

Pretty and shy girl goes to school, meets a handsome auburn haired stranger, they feel an instant and undeniable attraction and pull to each other...

It does make fun of Twilight for a bit there, but mostly in just a couple paragraphs.

To tell you the truth, it was kinda difficult to read. Usually when I read a book, I read and lose track of time. OMG, its 4am already!?

This time I kept urging myself to just keep turning the page, because as soon as I was finished, I could get to another book.

I gave it a three because the end of the book was a little more interesting. Did she or didnt she?

I must admit, if you are a teenage girl, you will EAT this up. Sweet and sappy romance, first kiss, and all that jazz. But as a near middle age lady, it was a cute read, but nothing that will make me go out and buy the sequels. Nothing fleshy and incredibly predictable.

I also gave it a three star because of the interesting use of characters aka bad dudes. The history of the vampires and the originality of the "hunters" was amusing and I liked it. Would like to see it in a more adult setting. Not sexual, but more... drama.

All in all, a decent read if you are waiting for the good book to be released on kindle or in the bookstore.

Review:

Everyone knows I love a good vampire book. The Blue Fire Saga by Scott Prussing promises something new and original. It keeps this promise.

Leesa Nyland is far from your average heroine. Despite being born with a physical handicap, she is both unassumingly beautiful and independent. She decides to attend her brother’s university in New England, shortly after he mysteriously disappears. Her family had fled from Connecticut to California when she was very young and she begins to discover that the reason why they left and the disappearance of her brother are somehow linked.

She soon encounters Rave, a handsome and enigmatic boy. He is rumored to be a part of strange cult family that lives on the outskirts of town. In truth, he is a Volkaane, a mortal enemy of Vampires that burn with an internal heat so intense that it can destroy everything around them.

Together, they have to fight both vampires and the physical challenges that come from Rave’s internal fire. Leesa has to ultimately decide between herself, her new found love and saving her brother.

Breathless is an imaginative and exciting read. There are two more books in the series, Deathless and Helpless, and they most certainly are on my to read list, as well.

I like the one fanged vampire hook!!! With a descriptive writing style, Scott Prussing delivers a refreshing spin on vampire reads.

Leesa Nyland is a young and naive college student looking for her brother after he leaves her notice he is leaving and not to come look for him.

Despite her brother's request, Leesa sets out on a journey to find her brother, only to come face to face with entities she does not believe in or even know they exist. One valkaane and one vampire, loving one and needing something from the other forces Leesa to believe what her mom told her when she was a young girl. That she was indeed bitten......

Leesa must make a decision that will change her world. What will she decide? Read Breathless to find out!

What I like about Breathless is the twists and turns, the characters are well developed and believable, with issues, just like us. The world created is not like one I have ever read before, suspenseful, yet, refreshing. One-liners made me chuckle out loud at times.
I would recommend this book for vampire readers out there looking for a new spin on vampire reads.

This was an easy and well written read. It could have gotten pretty complicated with all of the various supernatural creatures and terms, but the author did a good job explaining everything and reminding the reader of the various details, which I appreciated! This is also a great book for Fall reading, because it is set in Connecticut in the Fall... And there is a Halloween party too :) The author really put a lot of details into descriptions of clothing and food... Sometimes too many clothing details, in my opinion! (The color shirt, hair scrunchie, the brands, etc). The main character, Leesa, was a sweet young person... The kind of girl I would want my own daughter to hang out with! This was a pretty clean story with little to no swearing, and nothing more than kissing. Sometimes it did seem a little childish that a college freshman was so obsessed with "kissing" but it did not really detract from the story. My favorite aspects were the spooky setting and the writing style. I am not sure if I will read the next book in the series, but I am going to keep it in mind.

I have a few problems concerning this book. It is not that I did not like the plot. In fact, I think that the plot is really unique and quite interesting. There were twists and turns that I never saw coming in this book. The plot and story deserve 5 stars all by itself, but the problems that I encounter in this book pegs it down to two stars making it a series that I will never finish. I will read different books by this author, if I think it is interesting, but I will never finish this series. I have too many books to read including series and I do not have enough time to take a second chance on this one. Getting back to why this novel has been downgraded, one of my problems with this book is its slow pace. It is hard t get into a book that has potential, when the pace is as slow as a snail. I want to enjoy a novel that does not drag endlessly by, but one that keeps me engaged and always asking questions aout what will happen next. I also was annoyed throughout the novel wondering when the main femal character was going to look into her brother's disappearance. I kept on waiting and nothing happened, until the last few chapters of the book. I wish there was more action and effort put into his rescue. There is a lot of could hae beens in my mind, which makes this book lacking. I wish it was better, but it isn't. The characters at times were unbelievable and lacking definition. It sterotypes college girls as partiers and sluts, which makes me angry. Not every girl is like that. I get it. Leesa is a little more conservative, bt if she truely was, she wouldn't be hanging out with those kinds of people. Just saying.

Breathless was a riveting tale. The story is woven intricately with mystery, suspense and paranormal flavors. It starts with Leesa, who is leaving for college in Connecticut. Her main goal is to find her brother Bradley, who has mysteriously gone missing. In the process of investigating, Leesa finds that vampires are not the only thing running around her college. Her curiousity is not only fueled by her intense need to find her brother, but also by her own mother, who was once bitten by a one-fanged vampire while pregnant with Leesa eighteen years before. This not only has caused her mother years of living as a recluse and shunning sunlight, but it has affected Leesa and her brother’s lives immensely.
In college, she meets Rave, a powerful Volkaane who wields blue fire and hunts vampires. With his help and some help from Rave’s nemesis Stefan (a vampire) Leesa attempts to find Bradley and discovers things that are better left unknown. She must decide just how high a price it will take to save him.
I loved this story! It flowed easily with fun characters and enough mystery/suspense to keep you on your toes and aching to see how it all ends. The interactions between characters helps draw the reader into their lives. Truly an imaginative read with a new spin on paranormal. A must read!

Breathless was a quick, easy read. Although the main character is a new college student, the story read more as a YA novel to me. There were some early similarities to Meyer's series, but they didn't continue throughout, thank goodness.

When her older brother sends a letter saying he's going away and not to look for him, Leesa Nyland does the opposite. She heads to her Aunt and Uncle's in Connecticut and starts attending the same college as her brother. While trying to solve the mystery of her missing brother, she learns that her mother's ramblings about being bitten by a one-fanged vampire may be more fact than fiction.

I rounded up to 3 stars. The story, while a quick read, felt a bit scattered. But, there is some interesting vampire/hunter history. I got this book for free on Amazon; I didn't enjoy it enough to continue with the series. Younger readers may find it more enjoyable.

OK here it goes, the start was a little bit slow but not by any means enough to put the book down I still wanted to hear what was next. The story line was different and new and the vampires as well. I was excited that it was not all the same old vampire stuff I've read or even the love story in the book the same as most. Yes, there was an awesome love story for sure and I was excited to be a part of it, it made me happy and sad all at once. You will love it too! The book was for sure a page turner as soon as I got about 20 pages in I just wanted to see what was going to happen. Took me about two and half sit downs to read and I still want more. Make sure you pick this book up you will not be disappointed at all!!!!

Breathless, Book #1 of the Blue Flame series

Author: Scott Prussing

Synopsis:
Breathless is a modern fantasy/romance novel in the mode of Twilight and Vampire Diaries, with enough new ideas to excite even the most devoted fans...
Weston College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was three years old. That's when her mom started acting weird, insisting sunlight hurt her skin because she'd been bitten by a one-fanged vampire.
But fascinated doesn't mean Leesa believes. Any more than she believes in blue fire, people who live for centuries, and kisses that can kill. But when her beloved older brother disappears after warning Leesa not to come looking for him, she is forced to consider all these and more.
She also has to figure out what to do about her mysterious new boyfriend. She knows Rave likes her a lot-so why won't he kiss her? And why is he always talking about vampires?
As Leesa draws closer to finding her brother, she faces some gut-wrenching decisions. Should she risk her mom's life trying to "cure" her? Should she continue seeing Rave, after he reveals his dangerous secret? And most terrifying of all, should she make the ultimate sacrifice-give up her humanity-to save her brother?

Our Review:
Let me start by saying that I purposely didn’t read the synopsis of this book before I started it. I try not to do that as a general rule, since I don’t want anything influencing my thoughts and expectations.
Let me also be honest and say that I was apprehensive to even start it—a paranormal romance said to straddle the line between YA and Adult written by a dude—yeah, just wasn’t sure what to expect.
However, let me finish by saying that Breathless was fantastic! A unique, creative, fresh approach to the vampire genre that we’ve all come to know and love, but with characters that are NOT from your ordinary Supe Groups or perfection personified and who wrap you around their little fingers just pages after you meet.
As I continued to read I got more and more lost in the story and the vivid imagery that Scott weaves for his readers, and couldn’t wait to have another spare moment to pick up my Kindle and continue on. Where some authors just don’t know where to draw the line between too much and too little descriptive imagery and character building, Scott has it down to a science and gives you enough to clearly picture the scene realistically, but not so much that the reader suffocates and forgets what they were reading about in the first place. The pop culture references kept the story incredibly current, the wit was finely crafted and distinctly placed, the romance tender and believable [even in a Fantasy setting], and I can’t think of one point in the story where my mind wandered and I found myself wishing “oh if only he’d have done…”.
All in all, I am SO glad that pushed aside my apprehensions to read and review this book, and while yes, it was a lot like Twilight, it also wasn’t. Breathless is its own beautiful beast and deserves to be judged on its merit alone and not against something whose name alone elicits preconceived notions.

LITERAL ADDICTION Paranormal Book Club gives Breathless 4 ½ Skulls.
We definitely recommend it for Young Adult readers, but also to anyone looking for a light paranormal breath of fresh air. We’re looking forward to what Scott brings us with book #2 of the Blue Flame saga.

College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was a small child. That's when her mother began acting strangely, saying that the sunlight hurt her skin because she had been bitten by a one-fanged vampire.
This doesn't mean Leesa believes in them. Nor does she believe in blue fire, people living for centuries, or kisses that can kill. But when her brother disappears, she's forced to consider these and more. She knows her new boyfriend, Rave, likes her a lot, but why won't he kiss her?
As she draws closer to finding her brother, can Leesa cure her mother? Should she continue seeing Rave, when he exposes his dangerous secret? And should she make the ultimate sacrifice to save her brother?

This is a great paranormal romance story, but it is also full of intrigue and danger. Leesa is a college freshman, who's mother has always insisted that she had been bitten by a one-fanged vampire. Leesa has a healthy scepticism with regards to the existence of vampires, but soon comes to realise there's more truth to her mothers stories than she ever imagined. Leesa is a fantastic character. She is a shy teenager, who has overcome a lot of obstacles with the help of her brother, Bradley. When he goes missing, she takes it upon herself to try to find him. She meets Rave, who is a vampire hunter. Rave is a fascinating and dangerous character. He's tall, dark and handsome. But I certainly wouldn't want to be a vampire when he's around! Then there's Stephan! He's one sexy vampire! Enough said!
This story is in essence a romance novel, but there are elements of intrigue and danger that kept me turning the pages. I loved the inclusion of one-fanged vampires, as most vampire stories make them out to be perfect, with no flaws. Scott has created a world that is more realistic because of it's flawed characters. I would highly recommend you read this book if you love a great story full of romance and/or vampires. I am now looking forward to reading the remaining books in the Blue Fire Saga.

Ok. So I was skeptical about this book. A YA romance novel....by a dude?? :) However I was pleasently surprised that the romance spectrum was exactly the kind I like. Sweet and lots of it.

The book did start off with a lot of background and there was alot of descriptions in the book; clothes people were wearing, the characters surroundings, the way people looked.

There was enough action to keep me interested, but I didn't feel like I was bogged down with useless fights just to make the story seem action-packed. The characters were believable. They were sweet, annoying, sad, mad and selfless when it was appropriate for them to be and the leading lady WASN'T this whiny tool of a girl who had me rolling my eyes at every turn becasue of her stupidity and flippant attitude. She was damaged, but strong and likeable.

But ultimately I found myself in love with it. Especially the last half. I will definitely be reading the second book, Deathless, and would recommend to others as well.
Great job, Scott!

WOW JUST WOW! This book was an awesome story about love sacrifice and extremes people are willing to go to for their family. Leesa Nyland without knowing it was thrown into the world of vampires when she was born, her mother bitten by a rare and shunned vampire called a grafhym. Leesa attends a college in Connecticut a complete 360 degree difference from her home in San Diego, CA. But what and who she will run into at this school is way more than she bargained for and she falls completely head over heels in love with a volkanne named Rave. She falls so completely in love that there's no turning back. The whole reason she came to Connecticut was to learn the whereabouts of her brother Bradley. What she learns is the stuff made of from nightmares, so now the race is on to rescue her brother and the deals she makes may either save her brother or damn her to a life of immortality. Read this book and follow Leesa on her quest to save her brother and see just how important family is.

I got this book from Amazon when it was listed for free. I wasn't sure what to expect, I mean who ever heard of a one-fanged vampire? And people who live for centuries that have blue fire and whose kisses can kill? That is what drew my attention, I had to know more about these deadly kisses.

Surely vampires are just fiction, just the imagination of some writer, but what do you do when your whole life has been turned upside down because your mom believes that she was bitten by a one-fanged vampire and claims that the sun hurts her skin?
Leesa goes to college to learn more about vampires, especially these one-fanged ones that have ruined her childhood. She is also in search on her brother who disappeared while away at this same college.

This is a book that I plan on sharing with my children.

Breatless is about a young girl named Leesa, who seemed to have quite the sense of humor, considering the unraveling of her family. A mother who was bitten by a one fanged vampire, a dad that left her after the fact, and a brother who disappears.
A mix of Desiratu causeing the bloodlust raged, uncontrollable hunger. a young vampire and all can barely control, and the Volkaane (vampire hunters) that go after them was a great mix into the story.
Young Leesa heads off to college in Middleton, CT.. fresh start, new friends in college and of course the heated moments of a young vampire, and a vampire hunter. Wont spoil but truly a great read. Will she find her brother? ;) Will she learn more about the Grafhym (one fanged vampires, meaning imperfection, damaged?

The book starts off with Lessa telling us how a new breed or unusual vampire has ruined her family. The book pulled me in and made me feel like I was right there and it was quite the ride. The characters in Breathless are easy to love and Scott makes it feel like you could know them. The love story is new the vampires are different and the plot has some twists I didn’t see coming. This is not your normal vampire story and I can’t wait to see where book 2 Deathless takes me.

Breathless is well written and will pull you in from the start. If you want a new spin on Vampires and Vampire Hunters then buy this book. It is a Must read.

Not sure what to rate this YA book. I liked it enough to want to read another book. It's not as fantastical as the average vampire book. But from a Google search of a new being I had yet to hear of, this author created this particular vampire hunter. I liked the concept of a new being. Part fantasy, part romance, part friendship, part family. Enjoyable story. One thing that bothered me was that during certain scenes every item of clothing worn by each character was described. I understood it for the Halloween 🎃 party. But the other times, it was overkill. In my mind, tell me that she changed into sweats. Not what brand and color that are. 😕

A fanged vampire, vampire hunter who’s kisses can be deadly, a brooding vampire, a missing brother, Oh my!

It all started with Leesa’s mother whose walk in the woods would turn out changing her whole life and the ones around her. Exiting the woods with a bite on her neck and saying a one fanged vampire attacked her. After that Leesa’s mother was never the same, eating or drinking only red and staying out of direct sunlight. With her mother believing in vampires, Leesa is fascinated with them as well, but believing in them is a different story. Was Leesa’s mother crazy, or did that day in the woods really happen? Soon Leesa will find out just what her mother was always talking about.

Leesa a college freshman who has a slight handicap, with one leg shorter than the other, but her handicap doesn’t stop her from what she wants to do. Leesa is a beautiful girl, who is on the mission to find her missing older brother Bradley. With just a note, saying not to come looking for him Leesa can’t leave it at that and has to find out what is going on with her brother and where he is. This isn’t like him.

While on the search for Bradley, Leesa’s whole world opens up to new things, only things that she read in books or seen in movies.

Meeting Rave, would change everything Leesa has known and believed in. Rave is a handsome boy, who lives on the edge of town and with rumors of him being in a cult. Soon Leesa falls for Rave and finds out what he really is. Rave is a Vampire hunter, a Volkaane who goes after vampires, their mortal enemy and kills them with internal fire, and can destroy everything around them in the process.

Finding out what Rave really is, Leesa takes it in stride and falls for Rave. But, she can’t help but wonder why her boyfriend won’t kiss her. He is her boyfriend and they do like/love each other, so why won’t he kiss her? She will soon find out because with one kiss, Rave could kill her.

With having a boyfriend who is a vampire hunter, befriending a vampire probably isn’t the best decision, but she needs his help. Will Stefan help her and can both guys not kill each other?

With having to fight vampires and challenges due to Rave’s internal fire, trying to find her missing Brother Bradley. Leesa has to decide between love, saving her Bradley and herself. Leesa has to make a decision that could change her life as she knows it. Will she or wont she do it?

You will have to read Breathless to find out all these questions and go on Leesa’s adventure. In the end will Leesa be a vampire herself? YES YOU JUST HAVE TO READ TO FIND OUT 

Breathless was such an amazing read and it kept me captivated and wanting to hurry up and find out what was going on and get to the end. There is a lot of twist and turns that a great book needs to keep their readers wanting more and to keep you turning your pages. All the characters are likeable and well created. Breathless isn’t like your other typical vampire stories, and I really enjoyed that fact. The story will make you laugh as well! I loved the fact that Leesa wasn’t like every girl in every book you read, yes she is beautiful, but she has a slight handicap, she’s not this flawless character. I’ve heard of Scott Prussing from Facebook, but hadn’t got the chance to read his book, even though it has been on my to be read list for a while and I’m so glad I finally got to read it. It was a breath of fresh air and I’m so excited that there are so many more books after this one. YAY! This is defiantly a book I would recommend to my friends and others. And I absolutely give it 5 HUGE STARS!!!!

Quotes from Breathless:

“Don’t worry, I’m not into girls, if that’s what you’re talking about, I like guys way too much.”-Cali

“Even if you two get past me, I’ll just throw myself into your fight. I know neither of you want me to get hurt, so you may as well forget about fighting. Do I make myself clear?”- Leesa

“Ha! A horse and carriage, maybe. Or a beautiful girl, whichever comes along first.”-Rave

“I love you, Rave.”-Leesa

“I was afraid you’d think I was crazy. ‘My mom was bitten by a one-fanged vampire’ or ‘by the way, I think I met a vampire at the frat party tonight’ isn’t the best way to start off a friendship.”-Leesa

“Sexy works for me. I’m always happy to keep an eye out for sexy.”-Cali

“Oh, Leesa. How can I do that? How can I kill the girl I love?”-Rave

“So I guess you can say we owe it all to ol’ one-fang.”-Leesa

My Thoughts/Review: WOW is the first word that comes to mind. I laughed and cried and threw this book because I wanted more. Lord this book had me up all night reading like a mad person. Tehehe I really enjoyed it!

Leesa is your all American girl but with a twist. She has a crazy mother who has checked out a long time ago and a brother who is missing. She has graduated from high school and wants to attend the same college as her brother. She has had this planned since forever but she really formulates a plan when her brother goes missing and sends her a cryptic e-mail not to look for him.

Now Leesa is in Connecticut going to college and she is super excited to start classes but she is also excited to start searching for her brother. As she looks for clues she can sense someone watching her but she is not sure who it is or why they are watching her. She is shy so she has few friends and she keeps to herself when her best friend tells her they are going to a party. Once at the party she feels like she needs some fresh air so she goes outside and that is when she meets a guy dressed all in black with eyes that draw you in. she talks to him and as she is staring into his eyes and getting lost in the moment she feels someone watching only she isn’t the only person who feels it.

The boy she is talking to leaves her side and a few minutes later she meets another guy she cannot take her eyes off of. She feels something for this guy like she never has before but as they get to know one another she realizes he is hiding something and she wants to know the truth. She confides in this stranger and tells him about her missing brother and how her life mission is to bring him home before their mother realizes he is gone.

Only Leesa knows that the guy she likes and the other mysterious guy are keeping secrets and she wants to know what they are. What will Leesa do when she finds out the truth about the true nature of each of these guys. Will she love Rave or will she love Stefan? Where is her brother? Can she save him? Want to know the answers to these questions well you will just have to buy the book!

Memorable Quotes: Page 186 Rave and Stefan talking
“It seems this is your lucky day, Volkanne,” Stefan said. “You’ll not die tonight.”
“I could say the same to you,” Rave replied, “were you not already dead.”
“Another time, another place, Volkanne,” Stefan promised, his eyes never leaving Rave’s as he backed away.
“I look forward to it, Vampire.”

Advice: This is a MUST read! You will fall in love with Leesa and Rave and Stefan.

My rating is 4 1/2 stars.

I was so happy to be given the chance to review this book. I'd read a few mixed reviews about it, but I wanted to form my own opinion. I loved the blurb, and the cover is just gorgeous!

We have been given a new and exciting twist to vampire stories, we are introduced to a new breed of vampire, one that is so unbelievable it'll intrigue you to read more.

This book has it's own unique quality, it that takes you on a spellbinding adventure. A story of passion, young forbidden love, danger, vampires, it captures the reader and it does leave them truely Breathless.

The characters are just amazing in their individual way.. Leesa she's shy and very sweet, she also has a courageous spirit (I love that!)
Rave just takes your heart captive, he's the hero type that would do anything to save the girl he loves *sigh* he also can kick some vampire ass!
Cali (Leesa's best friend) She's very entertaining, she has a spark about her that'll always put a smile on your face.
Stefan is very mysterious, he's not ashamed of who or what he is. He's the hot vampire that is after something from Leesa and the poor vamp get's compared to Edward *giggles*

The plot and characters are well written, most of the time it felt like I was there with them, it made reading this story even more enjoyable.

I recommend this book to vampire lovers, if you enjoy Twilight, Vampire Diaries or even True Blood than you really should sink your teeth into this riveting story.

When I saw the the authors name it took me a while to process it, in my mind I kept saying "SCOTT, SCOTT". Hmm? Did I every read a PNR written by a man before, especially one about vampires? No, I don't believe so. The synopsis sounded very interesting so I decided to give it a try and I was glad I did. I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if Prussing would write a paranormal romance the way I like it and he sure could weave a good paranormal romance, i'm kind of a sucker for the 'consumed with each other' angle found in most PNR's.

Leesa was born into a life of bleakness, and abandonment, a life that would eventually set her on a path into the supernatural world. The only positive and present person in Leesa's life growing up was her brother Bradley. Leesa wanted to repair what was left of her family and she would do anything to save them, even sacrifice herself.

Rave sounds very swoon-worthy, and of course he falls quickly and deeply for Leesa and vice versa.

I'm ashamed to say that reading so many paranormal books have made me a bit shallow, it took me a while to get comfortable with the author not making Leesa "perfect" like every other paranormal novel heroine. Leesa was a strong and determined heroine, she had no limitations regardless of her physical attributes. I'm sure there is more to learn about Leesa in the rest of the series.

It was a well written story with some funny characters. I liked that there wasn't any mean girls among the characters. It was really well written and fun.
