I'm the author of The Administration Series, a near-future SF dystopia published by Casperian Books. You can find the series in paperback, e-book, or (partly) on line at the Mannazone website.
I've been writing original slash since 2002 — or homoerotic fiction, m/m romance, yaoi, as you prefer. Original slash is my personal term of choice because I feel it best represents my writing in terms of style and what readers can expect to find there. Individual stories may or may nor be sexually explicit.
I don't know, for Toreth to react that way, seems to me that his mind was already fucked up before Gee. Not that Gee helped any...if he was previously fucked up, Gee was the cherry on top.
I want to know about Toreth's parents, his childhood. Jeez, I sound like Dr. Tanit now, ugh!
Holy crap! That explains a lot or at least a part of Toreth's behavior and his commitment to kink. Gee is a fuckin' I'm sorry for Toreth. I feel sad. But what I found really disturbing is the fact that Toreth was amused and a bit embarrassed. Does he not realize how wrong that was?
"Ah, shit. He used to say I looked like an angel." Toreth actually flushed. "My hair was a lot longer then, and lighter and--" He raised his eyes, frowning. "I knew you'd laugh."
Toreth took a sip of his grapefruit juice. "Anyway, Gee liked ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Manna Francis got under my skin again. This story reveals a disturbing and sad piece of Toreth’s childhood. A piece of the puzzle that might help readers understand the man Toreth has become.
Out to lunch with Sara, Toreth comes face to face with a man from his past—Gee Evans.
”The man nodded at Sara, only briefly, before his eyes went back to Toreth. His gaze was intense now almost hungry, as though he could pull something out of Toreth just by looking at him.”
The frightening jolt, power, and strength of this tale are Toreth’s reactions to the man. Once we find out their connection and past, the words slowly seep in and hit your heart with such sad shock. Toreth’s matter of fact telling of the tale--*shakes head*--made the words and emotion stand out and make my heart ache.
Everyone sees the world differently due to our histories and experiences in life. Each of us hold a different version of pain, horror, and hell. Toreth’s reactions and mix of emotions to Gee are mind boggling, significant and disturbing. I wanted to hug the young Toreth, but shake the grown man telling the story. Can’t you see!?!
A very scary story that filled my heart with the creeps, sympathy, sadness, and fear.
Gee’s shoes! Those shoes alone caused ice cold *shivers* down my spine!
One of the best stories in this series - and fuck me if that's not weird.
It's sick, scary and deeply wrong, because of what happened and because of Toreth's reaction to it, and it explains, at least in part, why Toreth is so fucked in the head (I say this affectionately, but we have to be honest here). It makes me want to break something, and cry, and scream, but most of all hold Toreth for hours and tell him it's alright - and that's crazy, isn't it, because he doesn't even care. On the outside.
Stunning, outstanding, eerily fascinating. And absolutely heartbreaking. Everything, from the narration to the dialogues to the physical interaction, is pitch perfect and flawless. TA - and Manna Francis - keeps getting better. Or maybe it's just all coming out slowly.
Toreth wasn't normal. Most of the time he could pass well enough, and then something like this happened, almost as if to underline how profoundly not NORMAL he was.
This was sad and disturbing but very very interesting. For Toreth though it wasn't strange at all and he seemed to remember Gee, his abuser, with much fondness. However, it was good to finally get a glimpse into Toreth's past and understand part of why he is the way he is.
I don't know how this relevant. Well I think the main purpose of this U-turn is to give some background to Toreth's teenhood.
And Gee? Geez! He is a psycho! Well, I thinks it's only fair given that some of the characters here are dark and twisted. I am grateful this is only brief.
Am going to say poor Toreth. But thinking that now he is 32 and he ca be such an asshole, I think i will refrain. *evil smile*
This story is strange, funny, sad and disturbing—like Toreth. A peek into the life of our favorite para-investigator who, despite his 15 years, was well on his way to becoming the man he is now. Leaves you wanting to hug him. And hit him over the head. Or maybe hide in a corner.
I think I might be sick... oh, Toreth... I take back my earlier nasty curses that involved your name and burning hatred & disgust.. you poor thing... Its a miracle you survived your twisted childhood sane..oh that's right, you didn't...but now we know why Gee...ugghhh you are one sick dirty old man
Good told but a terribly unpleasant shorty which is about an old memory Toreth have about a former kinky teacher. This explains a lot about why someone like Torath becomes so damaged in his soul.
Oh... that is soo disturbing. I was left with the same impression as Sara... I wanted to wash my hands and scrub my mind of having come near such a deranged man like Gee.
And the calm (and sometimes affection) with which Toreth spoke of Gee. Recounted how he had been raped and psychologically abused. It gave me shivers. It explains a bit why Toreth is the way he is as an adult. Made me want to hug him and hide him away from the world and its nastiness but it wouldn't be something Toreth would want or appreciate.
Can't help going back to something Carnac said: "how profound and destructive an effect a childhood could have".

This set me off in all the bad ways. Nothing to do with the characters or author...It's more of a personal thing. I will say, I didn't really see the point except to show how extra-super-fucked-up Toreth is? Shock value? Meh! Sara, please be utilized in another way soon.
4 'An eyeopening little snippet giving us insight into some of Toreths past. Sad, infuriating. Heartbreaking for Tor. Another sigh, a sad one this time cos it's just another piece of the puzzle coming together to show a pretty clear picture of just how truly fucked Toreth is' stars.
What an absolutely disturbing short. No wonder Toreth is the way he is. The society they live in is absolutely hideous, but I can't stop reading about it.
