This book is a follow-up to "Mine"

Dr. Kate O’Rourke has dedicated her life to her career, leaving little time for personal relationships. When a secret admirer begins showering her with attention, Kate begins to fear for her safety. Then a gorgeous mystery man moves into the apartment next door, and Kate unexpectedly finds herself with a few dangerous cravings of her own. Bizarre things are happening all around her, and the world as Kate knows it unravels at the seams. The only thing she is certain of is that her seductive new neighbor seems to be the key to unlocking the puzzling riddle that has become her life.

Coerced into assisting the Task Force for Rogue Apprehension, Styx temporarily relocates under an assumed identity. Without warning, the Rogue he is hunting…aptly dubbed the Collector…steps outside his modus operandi and fixates on a beautiful ER doctor. Styx insinuates himself into her life in hopes of stopping the killer. But all too quickly, the killer isn’t the only one obsessing over the irresistible doctor. Shocking disclosures soon come to light about the woman Styx has been assigned to protect, and dark secrets from Styx’s past come back to haunt him, putting Kate in jeopardy. If he refuses to break an old vow, Kate’s life could hang in the balance…but if he goes back on his word, Styx just might kill her himself.

This is the second book in the series called Vampyre Task Force and this one is about Styx (as in the river, not the wood...LOL.) Styx has been reluctantly recruited again by the Task Force and Crispin to help with another Rogue Vampyre. Kate is an emergency room Doctor that is being stalked by the aforementioned Vampyre although she has no idea of their existence!

It was really funny to see Styx get brought to his knees by one ~ and only one ~ woman especially after he had given Cole such a hard time. The ladies man was ready for it though. It could've been a bit disappointing in that there wasn't more of a struggle but there was just too many other things going on.

Kate was wonderful and funny and it was great to see what happens with her although I did feel it was too close to her But I do love that whole element.

I'm happy to say that there is an Epilogue in this one. I had really wanted one in Mine so I'm glad this book got a nice wrap up.

I enjoyed learning about both Styx's and Kate's backgrounds as well as learning more about Zack and Crispin. It would be great if Brenda Huber would write their stories one day. (It was great when Zack told Kate that Styx's name was Nick DeVaine...LOL.)

There were a few spelling errors and a part at the end that was a bit confusing (cabin vs. apartment) but if you're not a stickler for that, it shouldn't bother you.

I would definitely recommend this series if you like an old timey vampire story with more of a modern day feel.

Favorite line:

"You don't have fangs."

"I do." Why did it feel as if she'd just insulted his virility?

"I don't think I would have missed something like that, Styx." Wry sarcasm dripped from each word. "Show me."

One moment drummer Styx was lying with a woman draped over his body, the next his agreeing to go undercover to catch a Vampyre rogue who seems to carry a personal vendetta againist him. Moving next to Dr. Kate O'Rourke was not part of his vacation plans, but when it looks like the rogue has shifted his attention her way and veered from his patterns, they know she needs to be watched.

Kate has spent her life as a doctor, making no time for any relationships. When she meets Styx there is an instant connection and he feels it too. With no knowledge that he and his roomate were sent to watch her, Styx inserts himself in her life but not just for the reason he planned, Kate is his mate and he will do anything to protect her.

Pretty good story, not as good as the first one but intriguing none the less. I liked Styx, he is an intense character. I hope there are more books coming out with the rest of the band of course Crispin a detective who is in both books.

Another 4 1/2 stars for me!...this is the 2nd book in Brenda Huber's paranormal romance series. It's not listed as a series though and i'm not really sure why because this IS book two...about Styx...a pretty major character from the 1st book, Mine.

I thoroughly enjoyed both books, they had a really great mix of action suspense, romance (with really good romantic tension between the main characters!) and smexiness. I'm really hoping that she will be writing more in this series because there are a few characters that we've been introduced to that i think deserve their own books! Any lover of paranormal romance should definitely pick these two books up...you will NOT be disappointed! :)

Styx is a vampire, and the drummer from the famous rock group Stolen Innocence (Mine). When a mysterious Rogue vampire is turning women for his "collection" and sends a personal message to Styx, he gets involved in stopping the Rogue. He is tasked with protecting Kate, whom the Rogue is stalking. Styx is stunned to discover that Kate is his Bride, even though she is unaware that vampires exist. They are both stunned to discover that she is something even more than that. Can they forge a future together? They won't even have that chance if they don't survive the Rogue.

Cravings is an enjoyable read. I think that it aspires to be a suspenseful, action-packed, emotional roller-coaster, but it falls a bit short of that mark. It's as if the Rocky Mountains were worn down to the rolling Appalachians. That said, I think that Brenda Huber did an admirable job with Styx's emotions when

I recommend Cravings for a good--not great--read. I also recommend Mine, and I'm sorry to see that the series didn't continue. I would have liked to read a book about Zack.

I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one. There was world building, action and romance. There wasn't mystery though. I didn't mind too much but I wished there was more mystery and suspense because it adds excitement for the reader.

I loved Nico and the intensity of his character, and Kate was an enjoyable heroine as well. I've haven't read much about Faerie's before and I may have to start because they're an intriguing mythical bunch of creatures.

I thought it was so adorable when Kate was thinking about the way Nico shows his love and devotion for her, and how she mentioned he's learning to cook for her by watching the Food Network and taking notes... My heart melted at the sweetness.

I hope there will be more book because I want Zack, Cian and especially Detective Crispin to have their own book.

It is very unusual for me to like a 2nd book in a serie, which is why I love it so much when it happens.

Cravings was trully a beautiful story between a Vampyre who used to seduce any breathing woman and Kate, a workaholic doctor with few secrets of her own.

Their instant attraction is even more intense than Cole and Alex´s, which is hard to beat. I loved how totally speechless she left him, what a good laught!!

As for the secret of her origin, is a great to learn more about the paranormal world and its different races and powers.

A great passionante and beautiful love story.

If you are thinking of reading Cravings I suggest reading Mine first. These two aren't shown as a series however the characters in Cravings are from the book Mine. I loved Mine and thoroughly enjoyed Cravings. All paranormal romance fans who love the feisty heroine and alpha hero Brenda Huber's books are a must read. I truly hope she writes books about the other supporting characters from Mine and Cravings.

I really really wanted to love this, and even though there is a good story, there was a few things that irked me and got on my nerves.

One of my major pet peeves is when an author writes in accent that doesn't belong to the country of origin. I've read so many books where an Irish character get the accent of a Scottish one. Being from Northern Ireland, I can't reiterate enough that we don't call a woman 'Lass' or say "I can no'"... If you don't know the right dialect then don't write it.

Another pet peeve is the constant use of Dios! Mierda! I know that Styx is Spanish, but he says those terms a lot. In a way it feels like when reading it, I'm being constantly reminded that he's Spanish. For a vampire whos lived (I think) in America for a long time, surely this would be something that fades with time?

Other than that I liked the book, the plot was good, however there are some errors throughout. Not sure if its an editing or printing problem.

This book is a dark paranormal. In the first few chapters, it gets a little difficult to follow the storyline, but gets better in time. Then I found myself getting into the story, other than a few distractions. Kate O'Rourke is a great heroine and we, the reader, learn about her as the story goes on. Styx is quite interesting, dark and intense, all around a good leading hero for the story. There's plenty of mystery and suspense, and the romance is hot.

Other than the storyline wavering and at times it has far too much back-story or narrative, I found Cravings to be enjoyable.

If you like dark fantasy/paranormal, Brenda Huber's Cravings could keep you up in the wee hours of the night.

When a "rogue" vampire is on a killing spree, Styx, another vampire and the drummer in a rock band, is called in to help TFRA, a policing agency for then paranormal. Kate, a doctor in A&E becomes the focus of the Collector's attention. when Styx and Kate meet, the attraction is intense and the passion unavoidable whilst they endeavour to beat this "rogue", who also hates Styx with a vengeance. I enjoyed this second book in the series as much as the first. Also loved Zack...a werewolf..also in the band!!
