A Stain of Innocence

Rate this book
Previously published as The Healing Tomb by Noah Declan.

Henry is deeply ashamed of the horrible abuse he suffered as a child. Any lie or terrible risk seems worthwhile to hide that secret from his parents and friends.

His abuser returns, after six years away, stirring up shattered memories that provoke painful questions. When his teacher is found bludgeoned to death, his best friends Ryan and Madison protect and hide him from a city-wide manhunt in a desperate effort to prove his innocence.

But after daring escapes across Niagara Falls to the darkest refuge, he faces the most horrifying question of all: Did he murder his teacher? With numerous gaps in his memory, could he have committed the crime and not remember it?

Note: This psychological thriller features a male victim who experiences some of the harmful effects of past abuse, including brief flashbacks.

About the author

Noah Declan

2 books1 follower
Noah Declan lives near Niagara Falls, Canada, with his lovely wife and lively cat.

He loves dark, suspenseful stories with unexpected twists, like “The Sixth Sense” and “Shutter Island”.

His first novel, “A Stain of Innocence”, takes an unusual approach to psychological thrillers by featuring a male victim. A teenage boy must piece together his role in two murders while evading the authorities. At the same time, he is forced to confront childhood trauma as he fights a psychological battle with his abuser.

All of his books are human-written.

Note: Goodreads shows "The Healing Tomb" as a separate novel, but actually it is just an earlier version of "A Stain of Innocence".

Trigger possible

Well this book just didn't quite grasp me as I thought it might, maybe how the story played out. I'm not saying it was bad it just wasn't for me. It may however trigger some people with its content.

This book was confusing.

I kept wanting to just give up and discard this book but Iwas determined to finish, in hopes that it would make sense. The second half of the book flowed a little smoother than the first half. If has potential but just didn’t get there for me.
