Princess Isabella Rossi must marry Sheikh Hassan al bin Sudar. Before than she wants to experience life a bit and she escapes palace in order to enjoy freedom and beautiful Paris. But Hassan's brother finds her and is determined to bring her home to his brother as soon as possible.

Loved the hero! He was a man who didn't have a problem interacting with people and charming them, but he didn't actually desire any close ties. Everything had to be on his terms and he was confounded by his overwhelming attraction to naive sweet Bella. At times he was mean to her but the reader can see how devastatingly vulnerable and tortured he really was. Isabella is pure, funny and her innocence disarming!

Enchanting, passionate and angst- filled story!!

I'm really starting to like Maisey Yates.

Isabella is a princess engaged from an early age to High Sheikh. She has more or less accepted it, but she wants to be free. So she runs away to Paris. Only someone ruins her plan, Adham.

Adham is the brother of Isabella's fiancee. He is an honourable man who gave his brother and his country everything, he takes duty very seriously. And yet he is incredibly attracted to Isabella, the one woman he can't have.

I like the whole forbidden love aspect. Adham is a great hero even with his chilly behaviour at the end of the book (there is an explanation). And Isabella, some of her behaviour may look childish at times, but it's not so much, when you consider that she spent her entire life overprotected well, it's mostly understandable. The one scene that bothered me a lot is when .

BTW, Isabella's brother is Maximo, the hero of A Mistake, A Prince and A Pregnancy.

"The Inherited Bride" is the story of Bella and Adham.

A sweet and angsty tale of blooming love between our princess heroine and Sheikh hero. The heroine has been promised to the hero's brother, the king of the neighboring state and is in despair. She has never been able to live her life or feel true happiness, and runs away to Paris two months before her wedding. She soon finds herself chased and caught by the royal guard, who unbeknownst to her is the king's brother. As he tries to retrieve her, and she fights back to grasp at the last experience of independence, lust and passion blooms, and soon they are caught in the intricate web of love and lies.

Very scarred and brooding hero, honest and passionate heroine, tangled relationships, angst, loads of drama, sexy lovemaking and a nice ending! Enjoyed it!

4 stars on re-read (previously 3)

Princess Isabella from some invented Italian kingdom has been too sheltered and not really loved so she wants some freedom before marrying the Sheikh (a.k.a. older brother) from some invented desert sheikhdom. So she escapes a couple of months before the wedding and the fiancé sends his little bro to fetch her.

The H (a.k.a. the little bro) thinks she's just a spoiled little girl [and she is but it wasn't her fault (?)] while he is all about duty and I-don't-do-feelings-because-tragic-past-when-parents-died. But he's unwillingly attracted and cedes a bit to the h's wishes.

I'm definitely not reading the older brother's book (if there is one). He was going to take the two months prior to his wedding to have a fΩck fest with Jamilah (the H refers to her as his brother's mistress every time! Not nice H, not nice) but he told his brother to accompany his fiancée to do what she wanted but nothing that included intimacy with males... talking about double standards. Anyways, the older brother was seizing his time with Jamilah because the ungrateful wouldn't keep being his mistress after he got married. The nerve she had... So the little bro had to babysit the fiancée.

Obviously, the magic v magnetism is too strong and the little bro yields to his big bro fiancée. And now the H has to marry the h because of duty and that's it because he's empty inside and she's sad because she's in love and was the reason he betrayed his brother, his duty, his vow of no marriage or children, and every other principle he lived by.

We have the mandatory moment of him telling her she can't draw blood from his stone heart so she leaves (to the garden) just to then realize the stone in his chest is no more and wants his HEA.

Sue me, I enjoyed reading the H suffer because he was betraying his bro and he won me with the engagement ring ☺️

My first book by Maisey Yates. It's definitely a good read, though I would've preferred a bit more angst.

This was my first Maisey Yates category romance and it won't be my last.

The intensity between the hero and heroine sucked me in completely.

Adham is a wonderfully torn alpha hero and Isabella an innocent princess, a perfect foil for his inherent darkness.

The sweeping drama and emotional see-sawing held me enthralled.

The story begins with Princess Isabella sitting in a hotel room in Paris, when Adham arrives to escort her back to her intended husband. Isabella had escaped from her security detail in order to spend a few days experience of life outside of expectations and duty before entering into her arranged marriage due to take place in 2 months. Adham, unbeknownst to Isabella, is the brother of her future husband, and the only person trusted enough to bring Isabella back safely (and protect her innocence). At first Adham thinks that Isabella is nothing but a spoilt 'poor little rich girl', and after he is asked by his brother he agrees to look after her whilst she does some of the things she wanted to.
Isabella knows that she must marry and fulfil her duty, and understands this. However as she and Adham begin to get to know one another they slowly realise their attraction for one another. Adham feels like he has betrayed his brothers honour and when they get even deeper into a relationship and the arranged marriage is threatened things get even more complicated.

I adored this book! It had me hooked almost from the start. Maisey has written two fantastic characters. Adham is a scarred tortured soul who doesn't let anyone close to him and Isabella is a dreamer yet also mature enough to know her responsibilities. I really loved how both characters taught each other something; Isabella teaching Adham to let people close and challenging his misconceptions about her and Adham showing Isabella how to be more worldly and of course how to be a woman, if you get my meaning ;)! Maisey really made me have empathy with Isabella with her desires to do things that so many of us take for granted, such as having you picture taken in front of the Eiffel Tower, eating a hamburger, going to the movies, or buying your own underwear!
This was a beautifully written romance, the settings and surrounding were also amazingly written and very descriptive. Maisey, if you keep writing books at this level then you will have a fan for life in me!!

I really like Maisey Yates's writing. She writes with gentle humour that never feels forced (never just for the sake of comedy) and always seems to come from the characters (but never in a mean-spirited way), and I think I really like that in a Presents/Modern read. It grounds the characters to the point where I can still enjoy the sweeping nature of their high-emotion, high-drama lives, but the humor gives them depth and a certain realism. I can care about them because they feel more realistic when I know they don't always take life 100% seriously. And I really like that her alpha heroes are strong men but never assholes. They have reasons for doing what they do, and it's not out of misogynistic entitlement or obvious insecurity (I think this is my problem with the stereotypical alphas; their arrogance, ill-treatment and dismissal of other people, overbearingness and ruthlessness all strike me as the mark of someone wildly insecure and not confident, which kinda makes the whole alpha thing hollow), so YAY for that, because her heroes rock. They seem like real men, the kind of person who'd be a good friend as well as a good romantic partner.

I probably wasn't the ideal reader for this specific book, however, because I just can't suspend my disbelief for sheikh novels. (Does religion exist in HP land? Does world history even exist in HP land? Answer: not really, and I'm still not able to suspend my disbelief over that.) But I'm really digging Yates's writing (worth going to the extra effort to buy her U.K. releases!), and I was willing to see how she'd write this, and I found the set-up (he falls in love with the woman long betrothed to his brother!) very compelling and was eager to find out how it resolved. Answer: happily!

We met Princess Isabella very briefly in An Accidental Birthright, also released this month from Harlequin Presents. Raised knowing from a young age that love would play no part in the arranged marriage that she’d been groomed for since birth, Isabella has never known any freedom. From what to wear, where to go, what to eat, she’s never been allowed to make her own decisions. Two months before her arranged political marriage to a man she’s never even met, she escapes to Paris, desperate for even the smallest taste of freedom and a chance to discover who she really is before falling back into a role that dictates she live to please everyone but herself.

Her freedom is very shortlived, however, when the sexy Adham appears on her hotel doorstep, sent by her sheikh fiancée to retrieve her before she can cause a scandal that will shame him and put their political alliance at risk. Adham wants absolutely nothing to do with the spoiled principessa, whose “poor little rich girl” attitude makes his blood boil. Unfortunately for Adham, it’s not only anger that he feels for the runaway princess, but also a fierce attraction that he must fight, for she is destined for his brother…

As with any Harlequin Presents, there’s a lot of avoidable angst, but I really do love a Poor Little Rich Girl story. Add to that Adham, with his intense code of personal honor and his struggles to avoid falling in love with her, and I was in melodrama heaven.

This is only the second Maisey Yates book that I have read, but from my experience with both this and An Accidental Birthright, I can confidently say that I will be reading more of her in the future. A very cheerful 5/5 Stars, highly recommended for fans of Sheikh HP novels.

WOW! This was a Great book! The emotions that I felt while reading this story were intense. The chemistry between Isabella and Adham was smoking HOT! There were a few times I wanted to smack Adham up side the head, and yell at him. He was all alpha male, and thought feeling love would make him weak. In the end Isabella taught him that their love only made the two stronger.

The story starts out with Isabell wanting just two months to experience life. In two months she had to marry the sheikh to serve her country. All her life she was told what to wear, how to act, what to eat. She was smart, from books, but had no life experiences. She just wanted two months to shop, go to the movies, and go out to a real restaurant. She was never allowed the simple freedoms that so many people take for Granit. She had never done any of those things, and she wanted to do so much. Isabella slipped away from her security detail. Adham caught up too her, and he was ordered to take her to the palace. Adham and Isabella ended up doing some of things on her dream list. He loved the happiness that lit up her face with each new thing she tried. She was full of life, She was innocent, and wore her emotions on her sleeve.

Sample from chapter 2: She closed her eyes against mounting anguish, tried to fight the tears that were threatening. She didn’t want him to see how defeated she felt. How could a man who was allowed to do whatever he wanted, a man who roamed the world, lived by his own rules, possibly understand the preciousness of two months and ten days’ worth of freedom?

Sample from chapter 5 – “Sometimes people miss beauty because it’s buried in everyday objects. But none of this exploration is every day to me.” He laughed softly, his breath hot against her cheek. “There is certainly nothing everyday about you.”

Sample from chapter 7 – she was so hot inside. Burning. Emotions were at war with desire, a desire that was growing quickly into a need as powerful as her need for food. Water. Breath.

Another sample from chapter 7 – “Adham.” She lifted her head, her blue eyes intent on his. She leaned in and pressed her lips lightly to his, only for a moment, her movements shy, her inexperience evident. He held himself still, kept his fists clenched. Because if he allowed himself any sort of free rein he would tunnel his fingers through her hair and devour her mouth, as he had longed to do since the first moment he’d seen her.

Another fabulous Maisey Yates - oh boy, can that girl write!!

Princess Isabella, (from some Italianate island monarchy in the Mediterranean) is due to marry a High Sheikh for reasons of economy, trade and security, but wants some freedom first - so she hightails it to Paris for a couple of months freedom but she is found by Adham, brother of the High Sheikh who is determined to get her safely back to his country so he can get on with much more important stuff.

He's not interested in love etc and is bound by a seriously strong sense of duty to his country, his people and his King.

Hassan agrees to Isabella's request for a brief spell of freedom and she and Adham end up wending their way through France and getting to know one another, before Adham decides they are getting too close and he gets them back to the country only to discover Hassan has disappeared with his mistress for the last fling before the marriage.

I totally loved this one for all its unbelievable kitchness, because the h/H were just so wonderful. Maisey yates writes fluent, poetic prose with enormously witty and emotive dialogue. So very enjoyable!!

I admit, I was prepared to hold my nose and find something nice to say about this, as I am now (full disclosure) Twitter friends with Ms. Yates. And, Harlequin - when I hear Harlequin, I think of fainting damsels and coy euphemisms.

Against my prejudices, I *loved* this book. The first paragraph was a little clunky, IMO, but I actually believed in both protagonists. The heroine was sheltered and naive, but NOT a dumb bunny. The hero had reasons for his hang-ups, and I felt there was a wonderful shift at the halfway mark that was plausible and still meant, oooh, forbidden love.

The sex scenes were deliciously hot. And, I am a sucker for a HEA.

Buy this book, you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Princess Isabella had an arranged marriage with Sheikh Hassan, and all she wanted was to live her life a bit before her marriage.
She went to Paris where she was catch up by Ahdam, unknowingly that she has met her future brother in law , soon husband.
She rebels and demanded that she visited Paris before heading to her new country.
Being with her tested Ahdam, since Isabella was rousing feelings inside him. Ahdam has deep scars and had long decided that he won’t marry , until fate decides otherwise…
A battle of will begin between Isabella and Ahdam but when will he succumb to his amira …

Cheeky Summary: What I really enjoyed about this book was the glimpse of insight author Maisey Yates gave us into what it could be like growing up in royalty or anywhere were a person was heavily protected. The heroine Isabella's desire to find out who she is would have seemed like a very small thing except for how expertly the author goes about explaining the kind of life Isabella had grown up living. This book has definitely made Mrs. Yates an auto-buy for me in spite of the fact that Harlequin Presents aren't usually my go-to Harlequins.

The story is very well written and as I mentioned, I really enjoyed this heroine. The hero Adham was well done as well and more likable than some of the alpha Presents heros one ususally reads. What kept this book as a 3 heart review was that the love scene between them just didn't feel right to me. It's hard to explain without spoilers, but I felt the hero went against his moral code and did so seemily without fighting against it too much.

I mean you kind of knew reading the book what would have to happen, but when it did I just expected something BIGGER to have pushed the two of them past their own control. Something about the scene just didn't feel like they resisted that much and it let me down.

Even with that let-down, this was a really enjoyable read and I really loved this heroine. I actually thought that the end of the book was immensly satisfying as it let the heroine shine and not be just some witless woman who falls at a man's feet. I know some readers who don't read Presents stories very often might at first believe that all the heroines are pushovers, but I think that you would really be happy to meet the heroine in this book.

Mrs. Yates has a writing style that I greatly enjoyed and I cannot wait to see if that comes through in her other Presents stories or if it was just the heroine who won me over so much in this book. Either way, I’m reading more of her Harlequin Presents books!

This was one of the first Harlequin books I've read and to be honest, I was taken aback by the sheer intensity of the emotions involved. The sexual attraction and all that sizzling/fizzling chemistry between the lead characters, up to the moment of their shared passion. I was also apprehensive towards the hero, with all his 'jerkiness'. But the author gave a view for audience to understand him through his history. As prideful as he was, at the very least, he truly humbled himself when he finally accepted his feelings for the heroine.

It took me awhile to finish reading this because of all the intense emotion, but I'm glad I read it through. :)
