Around the time I was 15, I realized that as much as I enjoyed drawing (note that I’m saying nothing about the quality of those pics), it was a lot of fun putting words in the characters’ mouths. I didn’t know the term “fanfic” back then, but I started writing stories about the X-Men, Alpha Flight, and the Teen Titans. Didn’t do anything with those stories, other than horrify my mother. She asked why I couldn’t write nice stories, you know, about bunnies. Nope—me, I wanted to write about power. About magic. About hot guys in spandex. And about beating those guys bloody and senseless. (In retrospect, maybe I really did want to horrify my mother. Hey, not my fault. When I was a kid, I busted her doodling on the cover of New Teen Titans #6. Argh!)
So maybe it’s ironic that the book I wound up writing had nothing to do with overly muscled men and everything to do with scantily clad women. (Well, temporarily scantily clad.) Oh, right, and demons.
Previously, I was the fantasy editor for Wild Child Publishing. Along with working with terrific authors and editors, I’d been fortunate enough to interview a number of fabulous people for WCP, including Margaret Weis (I think Raistlin was my first crush).
In case you’re wondering, I live in Upstate New York, along with my Loving Husband and two Precious Little Tax Deductions, two cats, and about 9,000 comics. (But actually, that number is now closer to 8,000, thanks to a flooded basement. Alas!)

daun wants jesse to go back to hell with him.
jesse did a favor for angel(telling angel what lust is all about), and now angel wants to help her back with something, so angel is kind of now like jesse's guardian angel.
alecto wants jesse to come with alecto back to hell so that they both can try and save meg.
jesse finds out that meg is suffering because megs job was to kill jesse and take jesse back to hell, but meg only let jesse die, not bring her back to hell.so thats why megs being punished and is suffering at the very moment.
jesse came home to pauls apartment to see lilitth(posessing catlins body-catilin is jesse's twin) having sex with paul right there and then on the couch.lilith then sucked pauls soul from him and just poofed.
jesse plans to rescue meg and save paul.and in order to do that she will need help from daun, and from angel.
so she summoned daul(real name:Daunuan) and she told him her plan. daun has to seduce her and take her soul by killing her, and when he takes her soul to hell daun has to let jesse loose, and after she saved both meg and paul, angel will have to help jesse escape.
jesse found out that lilith was jealous of jesse since the day she saw King Lucifer kiss jesse.
jesse had lilith weak and was about to kill her when she just...couldnt.
jesse has to go into the endless cavern and try to find paul.
jesse then sees paul later on...but pauls not alone.next to him is tracy.his ex-fiance. later on jesse convinces him that he's really in hell and that he needs to get out of hell, and paul ends up picking jesse over tracy.tracy's soul may be meant to be in hell, but paul's isnt.

The Road to Hell by Jackie Kessler
Hell on Earth series #2
Jesse, the ex-succubus turned mortal stripper, is back. Now settling into mortal existence, complete with her shiny new soul, and enjoying the delights of love with her sweetie, Paul, Jesse thought that hell has forgotten all about her. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Though human, somehow she can still malefic entities as they, under Hell’s new management directives, now actively abet mankind to commit sin and destruction. Furthermore, she has a missing Fury bestfriend to find, and a persistent former fuck-buddy incubus to fend, Jesse problems just got bigger and bigger. To top the list, former queen of Lust Lilith steals Paul’s soul, and Jesse was force to journey back to Hell.
This time our intrepid heroine will battle for her choices, for her love for Paul, for her belief in who she is, for her friendships, even up to a confrontation with the new Boss of Hell.
I picked up The Road to Hell, even though I was planning to read another book instead, because I cannot resist it after finishing Hell’s Belles. Once again, I was able to finish this book in a short time, flying through the pages. Now, used to Kessler’s witty, hip prose, I still find myself giggling at some of her expressions, although once in a while, frowning at some repetitions.
I still like Jesse, and I was rooting for her all the way. There are plenty of interesting endearing characters, including an beautiful, dim-witted angel trying to learn how to be a Seducer. But the one who steals the show for me, is Daunuan. This incubus, with his seductive wiles, just leaps off the page and commands attention. Just because of him, I’m eager to read the third book, Hotter than Hell, because it is his book.
I have to admit, I’m not a deep philosophical reader, but I know that there is some profound message in this book underneath the fluffy storyline. You can’t help it but feel the undercurrent of something more. The Road to Hell, Kessler’s follow up to her delightful Hell’s Belles is a story of love and friendship, of making a choice and being true to who you are. I give this book 5 stars over 5 for the amount of fun I had reading it.

The Road to Hell is a thoroughly enjoyable, humorous, sexy romp from hell to heaven and back again. I love ‘Jesse Harris’, one time succubus of hell who lead men to their lustful deaths, now stripper of earth being lead by a man through the world of love.
The whole story is just so deliciously original and often challenges preconceived ideas of morality, the idea of having an exotic dancer and ex demon of hell as the heroine is just wonderful. The lines that she gets are just wonderful and witty - even when in the face of danger, or particularly in the face of danger as that happens to be most of the time.
One thing about being pushed beyond the limits of my endurance: I got very stupid. Next thing you know, I’d be chasing after the Minotaur, waving a red hat and singing “Raspberry Beret.”
In the second book of this great series we have the added bonus of being introduced to angels, all part of the ‘Announcement’. They’re everything you’d think they’d be, and drunk angels are just the funniest. Of course, that doesn’t really help Jess much

But through the story there is now doubt that our Jesse is an incredibly sexy and luscious girl, or at least that she’s completely a girl

The series is light-hearted and fun; it pokes holes in many conventions and tries to turn the world upside down. The characters are wonderfully written with great lines and delightful interaction and there is plenty of steam, but it all fits into the beautifully flowing plot.
I am thoroughly enjoying the way that the “Hell on Earth” series is developing. We’ve got all the plot development and character building sorted and in ‘The Road to Hell’ we’re starting to see some real long-term plot development. This is looking like becoming a really great series that you’ll want to read and re-read.

"Road to Hell" is the second book in the "Hell on Earth" series by Jackie Kessler, although it's the first book of hers that I've read.
This book follows the heroine, Jesse, a former succubus turned mortal so that she could live with her human lover Paul. While Jesse has left Hell behind, it seems that it's not finished with her.....
Having not read the first book I struggled a little, since this is obviously a direct sequel and Kessler jumps straight in without a lot of explanation of the 'universe'. Having said that, I followed it enough to follow the story line well enough. I just think if I'd read the first book ("Hells Belles") I would have gotten even more out of this book.
I still can't decide whether I liked this book, and Kessler's writing style. On the one hand her character Jessie is a funny, feisty, heroine that I couldn't help but love. On the other hand I found this book a bit graphic even for my tastes - both in terms of the sex (which when it wasn't happening was constantly being talked about) and in language. Now, I'm no prude, not by along shot, but after a whole book of the same I got a bit annoyed by it.
On the whole I'd say this was entertaining but I'm not in a rush to read the others. If you like Mary Janice Davidson's "Undead and...." series then you'll probably like this. If you liked this and are looking for something a bit classier try Richelle Mead's "Succubus..." series.

Jezebel's BFF is being terribly tortured, and the only way she'll be released is by Jez returning to Hell. But she was betrayed, so the ex-succubus refuses. The game steps up when the Queen of the Succubi steals the innocent soul of Jezebel's human lover, and now Jez needs her incubus lover to kill her - and return her to the very place from where Jez has been running.
Jackie Kessler's character-driven romp has more depth than the surface reveals. Megaera is so psychologically screwed-up, but never stops trying to put Jezebel first. Angel has been forced into a new life the polar opposite of the one she's been used to, and the way Jezebel warms up to her and mentors her is oddly charming. The plot is kind of minor, but the characters, their decisions and their interactions provide plenty of food for thought, and hopefully Meg and Angel will return for future episodes in this spunky series.
P.S. Yes, I totally had audio thoughts of Peter Griffin whenever Jezebel said, "Shut up, Meg." ;-)

This is book 2 in the Hell's Belles series, and really, you should read it soon after book 1. The author did a really bad job of bringing the reader up to speed. It had been so long since I read book one that I was lost for the first several chapters.
In this book, Jessie is human, but the demon realm won't leave her alone. Incubus Don Juan, an angle-turned-succubus, a witch, a fury, and Lillith herself all plague Jessie. When she finally tells Paul her real past, he thinks she's loony, but this is after a huge fight regarding her stripping career. Then Lillith takes Paul's soul to hell, so Jessie chases them, determined to get him back. There are hints about Jessie being more than she appears, but it's not clear what. She doesn't even know herself.
A light, entertaining, sexy read.

I read the first in this series a while ago and I enjoyed it. I like Paul a lot and Jesse's an very interesting character. This book was also pretty good, but I didn't like Jesse and Paul fighting so much. I'm not great with conflict and they didn't make up until nearly the end. I did like Jesse's talk with Michael and I find her relationship with Lucifer really interesting. I felt betrayed when Daun didn't immediately let Jesse go in Hell. I always saw him as the lovable best friend; a little flaky and loose, but basically a good guy. Plus, how'd he get the wings? I'm interested to see what happens in the next book with Angel and whether Daun acknowledges choice.

Another great addition to the Hell on Earth series. We see the fight over Jezebel’s actions come to a conclusion in a way that isn’t really done much these days. The novel has excitement and anticipation, but it didn’t rely on fight scenes to deliver it. Kessler’s writing was so dynamic that she didn’t need to pepper the book with martial arts or guns or any other forms of violent interaction. Considering we are talking about hell, there was still some pretty gory actions, but nothing over the top.

Excellent second book in the series. The politics of hell get a bit confusing at times, but Kessler's characters are fantastic. She takes the sexual elements a bit further than many authors dare (when you're dealing with succubi and other denizens of hell, you pretty much have to), but she doesn't quite cross the line into full-fledged erotica. The sexuality is frank and clever, humorous at times, and intense. Very well-written. Her characters can think bad things, do bad things, and enjoy bad things... but never lose the ability to be the good guys. Jesse and Paul are a great couple, and her new-found humanity is a good balancing point for her demonic side.

The first book in the Hell on Earth series I didn't know what to think yet it captivated me enough to buy books two and three. I am SO impressed with this author! She creates the perfect blend of paranormal and horror and throws some twists into the traditional romance genre. This book is dark, I actually had borderline nightmares about being a demon searching for souls for Hell. I've decided there just aren't enough heroines like succubus-turned-human-exotic-dancer Jezebel. Spunky, smart-mouthed, foul-mouthed, self-confident, and easily scared out of her boots by more powerful entities, she also relies on her wits, rather than her ability to physically fight someone. I like that.

I read this and the first book in the series a while ago. Unfortunately, as with the previous book, I can't remember what it's strengths and weaknesses were. But I do remember these being a fun read :)

Another hellishly sexy battle between the mortal and demon worlds. Very much in the same thread as the first book. Despite finishing it quickly I think I will have a break before reading the third in the series.

Again skipped a lot of the adult scenes. The characters develop more in this novel and we get to understand the afterlife rules a bit better. Daun in particular is shown in a more rounded way which leads nicely to the next one which is about him.

Hmmmm, Jessie the main F character is too MaryJanice Davidson-like snarky/smart alecky for me. Just not my cup of tea - quit reading by page 30.

this book was really good jessie is a great heroine with her strong sexy personality and her excellent survival skills it's kind of sappy but i really enjoyed this book for what it was

Second in the series. Nice enough in its self. Jesse can be a little too sultry for some, but the exploration of what is good and what is evil is treated in that "casting the first stone" venue.

I admit it~ I absolutely loved it! Not only was the story interesting and the characters engaging, there was humor all throughout the story. Definitely a page-turner! :)

Meh. This was better and a faster read than the first one. But still not really "up" my alley. Jackie Kessler does put a good spin on a good succubus book though.
