Chapter 48, with the lights in the water, is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in manga, ever.

C'est tout doux, toutes les histoires s'enchaînent bien (j'ai l'impression que les personnages vont se rejoindre?) On apprends qu'alpha est immortelle. La technologie est bien surprenante mais j'aime beaucoup

A post-apocalypse story... that’s actually extremely wholesome, relaxing and uplifting. There’s no darkness, violence, despair or evil to be found within these pages. Nothing but ambient, atmospheric, nature-fueled positivity between the last remnants of humanity and humanoid androids coming together to live peacefully in harmony and give each other the love and support they need to find purpose in their daily lives.
Alpha is a sweet robot girl that runs a cafe at the end of the world. She invites the few guests she receives into her shop to sit down and talk with her over a steaming cup of coffee. She bonds with locals and travelers by sharing heartwarming stories of the past and dreams for the future. They share happy memories in the present rather than dwelling on the past. Communities come together to raise children with hope for a brighter future. The population has decreased immensely, but loneliness has become a thing of the past.
The story plays out in a seaside country with boundless blooming nature with no pollution or industrialization in sight. Nature has reclaimed the earth, sea levels are rising and rich vegetation covers nearly every inch of land. The last survivors of the world respect nature and treat it like a friend rather than as a resource to be abused for profit.
It’s a mature apocalypse story that balances whimsical childlike wonder with coming of age self-discovery and finding contentment in a world that’s been robbed of most living things.
An underrated classic gem.

Bien évidemment, et ce sans surprises, j’ai adoré ce sixième tome. Plus les tomes passent et plus je m’attache à ce manga. Je ne pensais pas que c’était possible vu à quel point j’avais aimé le premier mais au final ça l’est. J’aime vraiment énormément ce manga qui, comme je le dis à chaque chronique, m’apaise et me fait du bien. C’est si doux, parfait pour une lecture cocooning quand le moral est au plus bas. Ce genre de lecture fait tellement de bien parfois, une bulle de douceur, une histoire touchante, une ambiance détendue et apaisante.
Dans ce sixième tome, Alpha tente de s’habituer à boire du lait. Elle aime en boire mais vu les effets qu’il a sur elle il est mieux d’éviter d’en boire. Mais elle essaye tout de même de trouver une alternative. Elle fait également connaissance avec la petite Makki. Et si les débuts ont été un peu difficile, du moins du côté de Makki, désormais ça va beaucoup mieux et Makki profite d’Alpha. On suit aussi Kokone qui continue ses recherches en glanant des informations sur les modèles Alpha.
Encore une fois je me suis laissée bercée par cette ambiance poétique. C’est fou à quel point une lecture peut vous faire du bien. J’apprécie beaucoup les pages sans dialogues, pas que je n’aime pas quand ça parle mais le fait de ne pas mettre de paroles et réussir à retranscrire les émotions comme ça c’est génial. Cette histoire n’a pas besoin de dialogue pour réussir à vous émouvoir. Et ça c’est beau. Misago s’intéresse beaucoup à la petite Makki, je me demande pourquoi. En tout cas son personnage est toujours aussi mystérieux et intriguant. J’espère qu’on la verra bien plus souvent et plus longtemps par la suite.
Ce sixième opus est clairement dans la lignée des précédents. C’est toujours aussi beau à lire. J’aime vraiment cette ambiance qui se dégage. Je prend tellement de plaisir à dévorer chaque tome. Dommage que ça aille si vite à lire, on aurait envie d’en avoir encore et encore! Gros plus pour les planches en couleurs qu’on a parfois au fil des pages. Elles sont d’une beauté incroyable et sont vraiment sublimes à regarder. J’en prends plein les yeux à chaque lecture et il me tarde déjà d’avoir le septième tome entre les mains!

Volume six of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is particularly beautiful. There's some beautiful landscapes, particularly the dark highway tunnel with the almost supernatural midway shop. Alpha also spends some time thinking about time and age, and her position among humans who will always age past her. She comments that watching others grow is like being stuck on the shore as everyone else is in the water. But she doesn't get hung up on the unfairness of this. It is a truth that must be contended with. Overall, this is such a peaceful book within the series, contemplative without devolving into angst.

Another great instalment! I feel like this volume focused more on the characters other than Alpha, which is a nice change of pace but Alpha is certainly the most compelling character so some of these chapters felt weaker. But more lights! More drunk Alpha! More misago! Always great.
