The second volume in the Minecraft warrior adventure series follows Runt and Blurp on their quest into the Nether to face the impossible task of defeating an Ender Dragon. Cube Kid's bestselling characters come to life for young readers along with fun illustrations from the 8-Bit Warrior Graphic Novel format. Runt, his new friend Blurp (who’s a zombie!), and their wolf, Mobslayer, are off on a new adventure together. They meet a great warrior named Maggie who suggests taking a magic portal to the ominous Nether. They will have to go there if they ever want to face the Ender Dragon. Will Runt and Blurp be brave enough to venture into the Nether?
This book is an excellent choice for kids who are struggling with reading, as it leverages their interest in video games to engage them in the story. The fact that it's part of a series is a bonus, allowing you to sustain their attention and motivation to continue reading. It's a great way to help them catch up on their reading level while fostering a love for reading!
This book could have used another run-through with a proofer, but my kid loved it because he understands everything you can do in Minecraft and he would tell me what he would do instead or explain stuff. He was very excited with the story and laughed a lot. The only thing I’d point out as a heads up is that they do have the word “badass” in it once, if that bothers you.
