This passage tells of the inevitable corruption of man over Time. Being how he is of both Mind and body, he grows corrupt over time; as malice is the nourishment of the world, and a manifested body must consume other bodies in order to aquire energy to operate.
This can also be seen as a description of entropic systems and how they increase in disorder over Time. God is used as an archetype for Good, which tends to be lost in an abundant (fortunate) species, as they must grow corrupt in order to achieve that abundance.

A bleak prophecy by Hermes Trismegistus, quite an interesting mysterious character that some believe existed and some believe did not. Anyhoo, I enjoy reading his dusty well-writ volumes and will be remiss if I do not recommend this esoterica for open-minded readers.
