Brad Allis I don't really get writer's block. Once I actually start on the project I pretty much know where it is going and what I need to do. There are certain passages where I just can't get the words the way I like them and in that case, I just write what I can and come back to them later on. Often times I will get inspired or figure it out right when I turn off the computer and in that case, I grab my notebook and scribble down the idea before it is lost. Inspiration to write is much more difficult. There are times I just do not feel like writing. In that case, I usually don't. No reason to force something when I do not have to.
Brad Allis I am currently working on the sequel to "King of Calamity", "Without Guilt or Sin." In this one, Slade is hired by a devoutly Catholic family to prove that the death of a young college student was due to an autoerotic asphyxiation experiment gone wrong, and not suicide. I hope to have the first draft done by spring 2019 and the book out by the end of 2019 or early 2020.
Brad Allis I was reading a ton of mysteries and realized that the protagonists were almost always in their late 30's and older, so I set about coming up with a detective in his early 20's. Once I had that basic idea, I had to come up with a logical reason why someone would hire someone that age. I figured the only way it would make sense was you needed someone that age to blend in and I began crafting the idea to have my protagonist hired to keep tabs on the Senator's daughter without her knowledge.
