Daryl Wood Gerber Hi, Melissa, sadly they won't be continuing in novel form. I AM WRITING a novella that will come out this December so I can continue to give my fairy fans a taste of the fairy garden world. The publisher decided that the books weren't selling enough copies. Sigh. I love the series. Follow my newsletter and you'll see when the novella releases. Also, FYI, in the Aroma Wellness Mysteries, which are set in Carmel, there are fairies. And Courtney and Fiona make an appearance, but the fairies for the main characters do not help humans solve crime. :) Still...they're delightful. Thanks for asking.
Daryl Wood Gerber Hi, Rachel, I'm sad to say I will not. The publisher owns the property and ended it at 7 in the series. Makes me very sad!! I loved writing that series. I hope you'll check out my other series. Sorry I didn't respond right away! ~ Daryl aka Avery
Daryl Wood Gerber Yes, Anne, sorry I didn't see this right away. Bad me. It's out as an audiobook and readers/listeners are really enjoying it. It's available on all sites with audiobook links.
Daryl Wood Gerber Hi, J-D PP Abondius, Love your name! Sadly, no, I won't be. The publisher ended that series. I had such a good time writing it. I need a publisher's support to write more of them. Thanks for asking, though. Check out my other series, the Cookbook Nook Mysteries and the Fairy Garden Mysteries. All have recipes. :)
Daryl Wood Gerber No, they're going to remain in trade paperback size. So sorry. That's a publisher's determination. And sadly, no, that publisher ended the series after 2 books! Pooh. I really loved writing it, but I need a publisher's support for cozy mysteries. :(
Daryl Wood Gerber Anne, I'm so sorry I didn't see this question. I've been checking regularly. Oof. Sorry. No, there won't be any more. The publisher ended the series and is unwilling to give me back the rights at this time. I'm still negotiating, hopeful that in the future I could write more. Thanks for telling me you enjoyed them. I loved writing them and would love to visit Mimi again in my writing room. :) All my best, ~ Daryl
Daryl Wood Gerber Hi, Hilary, at this time, the publisher is not making an offer. It's been a difficult time for books to come out in hard cover first, so this is a business decision. One I'm very sad about.
Daryl Wood Gerber Hi, Sheila, yes, the next book will come out in 2021. I believe the title will be Kneading the Truth.
Daryl Wood Gerber I'll have to see what the publisher has in mind. They are the ones who make the contracts. :) Sadly, that's why Cheese Shop Mysteries and French Bistro Mysteries ended.d But thank you so much for your support for the Aspen series. I do love and love writing her.
Daryl Wood Gerber Hi, Betty, sorry it's taken me so long to answer this! Wow, talk about missing the boat. yes, there will be three in the series. Desolate Shores is the first. Fan Mail, which came out in November, is the second. And the third will come out this October, title pending but I like Deadly Resolve. Let's see if that's what we end up with. I'm writing it right now and really enjoying the story. Hope you will, too. Thanks! ~ Daryl
Daryl Wood Gerber Hi, Nann, someone just asked me the same question last week. What timing! So, my publisher, back then, liked to add the first chapter of the next book as a preview. I'd written it so she inserted it. But when she got to reading the next manuscript, she really didn't like that beginning. I told her it was already in the previous book as a teaser. She believed readers would forget. They didn't. I think it has upset quite a few readers, and I've apologize. But there is a thread about Jenna's husband...coming up...and played out over a few books. Is he or isn't he? By the 5th book, you will learn the truth...PROMISE.
Daryl Wood Gerber Yes. I'll be bringing some orange cardamom madeleines, a recipe that is in my latest book A Deadly Eclair. I'll also be bringing the "filling" for the eclair as a taster sample. Delicious and so easy to make. We should have a great time discussing mysteries and food! :)
Daryl Wood Gerber Good question. Sometimes we talk about why I write food-themed mysteries or what inspired me to write this particular book. To answer that question, I chose to write about the French Bistro mysteries because my agent suggested the theme, and once I decided to set it in Napa Valley at a tiny bistro that reminded me of the bistro where my husband proposed...the rest was history. Do like foodie mysteries?
Daryl Wood Gerber Yes, when I was a young actress and faced a casting couch situation. I was lucky and ran out. Horror!
Daryl Wood Gerber I would love to go to Wagtail (Krista Davis's Paws and Claws series) and take my little Sparky to the human and pet hotel. I think it would be delightful to let my doggie play with all the others! But he would have to have a very special diet.
Daryl Wood Gerber Sorry, I missed seeing this earlier. My favorite to write - I like both for a variety of reasons. I like cozies because you really have to build a "world" of people and location. There have to be lots of suspects with valid motives. It's like putting a puzzle together. My new cozy, A DEADLY ECLAIR, features Mimi Rousseau a former chef and now bistro owner who is quite attentive to detail. A chef must be! When I write a thriller, it's about the chase. The suspense of whether or not the protagonist can survive the battle, you know? Lots of pain and punishment happens to a protagonist in a thriller. And usually the theme is "larger." I become two different people as I write either cozy or thriller. That suits me, since I'm a "Gemini." :)
Daryl Wood Gerber Hi. I have a number of cozies on my reading list this summer. There's a new "Grace" by Julie Hyzy. I'm currently reading Hannah Dennison's latest Murderous Mayhem at Honeychurch Hall. I'm also going to read Jenn McKinlay's new About a Dog. It's got a romantic thread; more like women's fiction. It should be fun. Of course, I'll be picking up a few thrillers by Harlan Coben and such. I love thrillers in the summer.
Daryl Wood Gerber Hi, Jean! Thanks for the question. Re: one favorite book - I have so many it's too hard to count. I remember as a girl reading all the Nancy Drew mysteries in one week. I had the measles and my mother handed me her set of 37 books. Then I read lots of Agatha Christie. I adored REBECCA. And JANE EYRE. And I can still vividly recall reading GONE WITH THE WIND and THE THREE MUSKETEERS. Now, I like reading suspense, thrillers, and a wide variety of mysteries. ~ Daryl
Daryl Wood Gerber DAY OF SECRETS - my nephew is a darling man and had a difficult upbringing. That was the launchpad for my idea to star a grown man was had built a solid life until a wrench was thrown into it! ~Daryl
