J.M. Hackman, the award-winning author of the Firebrand Chronicles and the Stardust Hearts series, loves thunderstorms, fuzzy socks, and thick chocolate milkshakes. She writes high-stakes fantasy and soft science fiction stories threaded with hope and romance. While her characters are fearless, J.M. is afraid of spiders, wasps, and the crowds at after-Christmas sales.
Her stories have been published in the anthologies Crowns, Encircled, Tales of Ever After, Mythical Doorways, and Realmscapes. Go to her website at www.jmhackman.com to learn more about her and to take the quiz, “What Book Trope Are You?”

If I get stuck on a plot point, I'll write out all the different variations of what could happen, and sometimes I'll discuss it with my family, as well.
If it was a true case of writer's block where nothing was happening, I'd go do something I love. Go for a walk, talk to a friend, do some crafting, watch my favorite movie -- anything to get my creative juices flowing again.(less)

This was a interesting mashup retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses and The Language of the Birds (which I was unfamiliar with). I loved the close relationship between the sisters, with each one have a different character, but all of them suppor ...more

While this was wild, I didn't love it. 400+ pages of trying to keep track of who did what was exhausting (& reading is supposed to be relaxing!) It was an interesting premise, but the explanation for how/why things work left a little to be desired. I ...more

This book confused me. Very well written, interesting plot. BUT the heroine was hard to relate to--arrogant, gorgeous, kick butt assassin who also plays the piano beautifully & has two men in love with her. Ugh. Even with tragic backstory, it was har ...more

This book sounded so good. Although the premise hinted at a fake dating trope, it never really materialized. The actual plot was better, more deeply emotional, and I loved Sage, Fisher, and the other characters.
But the language! Smh.

I received an ARC of Into the Churn & devoured it--it was such a good read! The stars of this sci-fi adventure were Ezran Hart & Foster Sterling (because I just love stubborn OTP characters). 🥰

“Even the smallest person can change the course of the future”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
