Andrew Hurley is an American academic and translator, best known for his English-language translations of Spanish literature, particularly the works of Jorge Luis Borges. Over his career, he has translated more than 30 book-length works by a range of authors from Latin America and Spain.
He earned his doctorate from Rice University in 1973 with a dissertation on narrative strategies and reader response in novel theory. He later taught in the English Department at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, where he was named Professor Emeritus in 2009.
