Ray Ray said: " Fans of the movie may not know this, but there are a lot of Trainspotting novels. Like, a lot. A prequel, multiple sequels, and now a midquel.

It’s been a well that author Irvine Welsh goes back to a lot, the prolific writer who has created his own so

Joe Kelly is a dynamite writer, he's done Spider-Man before and it's good to see him again as the mainline guider of all things Peter Parker.

The new status quo of Peter's job in science with a semi-mysterious childhood friend, it's a bit too much li

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
"Despite the misogynistic undertones and a bit of racism, this is a magnificently written extended metaphor about overcoming oppression. I have lots of other half-formed thoughts about this book, but nothing I can commit to writing."
Ray and 5 other people liked Alan's review of 52 Omnibus:
52 Omnibus by Geoff Johns
"Top tier capeshit, somehow manages to be a big event comic but also focuses on telling well-written, character-driven stories, all superhero comics should be like this."

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
Kurt Vonnegut, Mother Night

Douglas Adams
“I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.”
Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time

H.L. Mencken
“Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.”
H.L. Mencken, A Mencken Chrestomathy

Jean-Paul Sartre
“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”
Jean-Paul Sartre

Noam Chomsky
“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum....”
Noam Chomsky, The Common Good
