I feel like my problem is not that I have a hard time being vulnerable, but rather I am often far too open with people, and then the regret/anxiety/over-analyzing sets in after; it's like retrograde social anxiety! Would this book still be a helpful read for me?

The author admits any shortcomings in her research but I think still does a good job talking about shame associated with both traditional genders and their similarities. I will say I think her assessment of how shame affects men and women is based on overarching traditional "American values" type experiences, so it may or may not apply to the reader depending on how open s/he might be already. I have never read any book except academic books and my English is also not good, vocabulary is poor. I love to do things rather than reading books, but i like to read reviews. with this background, I want to try this book for reading as my first book (going to loose my virginity...lol). what do you say ?

I would say it's not a hard book to read for a non-native English speaker.

Before that, you can copy and paste some pages of the book (if you got Ebook) on the vocabulary.com, and start mastering those words; this helps you enjoy more form the book.

I also recommend apps like Google Books or especially Amazon Kindle; Kindle provides a feature known as "word-wise" which shows words meaning above them if they're hard words.
