3.5 stars- started out fantastic- super angsty and steamy- but too soon turned to HEA.
Was an ok2good sexy-shifter read.

Kaylie and Dean. Kaylie has had the hots for Dean for years, but he never acknowledges the chemistry. So she goes off to school to become a Veterinarian. Now she's back in town for good and is not the kinda person to leave well enough alone. Dean knows that she is his mate, but feels she deserves better so he keeps his distance. If he ever touches her, the mating heat will start and then there's no going back. Oh yeah, and there's a psychotic killer on the loose. I generally hate when when the H pushes away the h because they think they aren't good enough. It wears thin fast. I have to admit though that the author does a good job making this scenario work. Dean's history really is something that would make any women cringe. I loved Kaylie's character and felt that she was the glue holding the story together. All the characters were good and it wasn't all that predictable. When Dean finally pulls his head out of his self loathing ass, he doesn't prevaricate but takes charge like the alpha he is. I thought the author did a great job of giving her characters depth that drives the story. Enjoyed this one more than the first. There's a wee bit of OW drama but it didn't ruin the story for me Dean dumps his current casual booty call when he hears Kaylie is coming home. She gives new meaning to the 'woman scorned' saying. But Kaylie isn't a virgin either, which I appreciated.
You could probably read this one alone, but it adds more to read the first book first.

Kaylie Gentry is Tess's younger sister who know's what she wants and has returned from college with two things on her mind. Firstly kaylie knows all about the shifter population and wants to learn more about them,she loves animals which is why she has taken a position at the animal and vetinary surgery. Oh and secondly kaylie has her heart set on snagging the towns Mayor and Pack master Dean who is one mean strong tuff as nails hard ass guy. Will kaylie be able to crawl under the hard exterior and win him over to become his lupa.Shifter's Surrender great fun sexy read.

Playful, steamy contemporary paranormal romance. While Dean has a traumatic past, the overall tone of the story is fairly light, and Kaylie is a nice combination of mischievous and grounded. It could use better editing (sometimes it felt like reading through an episode of When Spellcheck Attacks) but I enjoyed it enough that I'm planning to read more in the series.
