5 "Lush & Lace" stars!

Another sexy as hell story from one of my favorite Indie author's!
I loved Rocki 's character, and Cole was definitely swoon worthy!

Once again the writing, characters, and story-line were wonderful.

When I read one of Shiloh Walkers books I'm always happy because she has me engaged right from the beginning of the story and her characters are always colorful, sexy and unique.

Great read!

Why I Read this Book: Who can resist temptation? Not me. I had read another novella, Beg Me , by this same author and I really enjoyed reading it. It read like a full page novel and the story felt complete. So when I saw that the author had another novella coming out, I knew I wanted to read it. And I like a ‘quickie’ read from time to time.

What I Liked: Rocki’s character is a woman who knows what she wants and works hard to achieve her goals. She’s a corset designer and she pours herself into her store and her sexy creations. I wasn’t familiar with some of the lingo revolving around corsets but you can tell the author did her research.

Rocki is no stick-thin woman; the woman’s got curves. I love how she helped other women embrace their beauty. And I loved the way Rocki handled herself when in the presence of Mara.

What I Didn’t Like: Mara’s character annoyed the crap out of me. In a novel as short as this one, I would have liked to have read less of Mara. Mara was self-serving and greedy. I don’t understand how Cole tolerated her for as long as he did. They didn’t seem to be a well fit match.

The suspense element didn’t really hold my interest. There was no mystery who the stalker was so it was a bit predictable. I just didn’t get the complete satisfaction from reading this novella as I have with her other books. Beg Me packed a bigger punch as a novella with its intensity.

Overall Impression: Tempt Me was a quick read. I liked Rocki’s character and how her relationship with Cole developed. The author wrote well-developed characters for such a short novel. This wasn’t my favorite book by this author but still a nice romance with a bit of suspense mixed in.

Rocki is a lingerie store owner. She designs corsets, she has a success business, she owns her sexuality and has a ton of personality and confidence. She’s also been living a life without the love of a man since her husband, a cop, was killed in the line of duty 5 years ago.

I’m a fan of the strong, independent heroines, and Rocki has that in spades. She’s faced some ugly things in her past and pushed through. She was happy with the man of her dreams until life had other plans and dealt her another tough hand. But she emerged from that even stronger. She built her career from that, she gives back to the community. Definitely a great example of a woman. And one you want to see get an HEA and a break.

Cole on the other hand I didn’t think we got to know too well. He’s sweet and caring, and then he has a whole new authoritative side of him later on in the story. I just had issues with how his previous relationship was ending so easily after one quick realization and then jumping right into a new one head first. Time would’ve been of the essence here for me.

TEMPT ME is a bit of an insta-lust story. And while that is probably just fine for a short novella like this, I usually want more page count to get me to the feelings side of things. That’s just a me thing, I guess. I wish this would’ve been longer to give them both the time to get there in my mind. Especially him. Although they move along pretty quick, Rocki and Cole have great chemistry, and of course all the lingerie makes this a fun story!

Rocki finds just the thing that could tempt her, too bad he´s attached to a fiancee..
Cole is just checking out the competition with his fiancee/shop partner when he´s faced with a gorgeous woman that makes him question everything he´s become used to. Is this really the life he wants, or can he do something about it? And even more important, would it be possible?
Quick read, smutty fluff and romance in a great combo.

I received this as an ARC (thank you Shiloh)

We enter the story in a lingerie store. It's called Lush and Lace and the meaning behind the title was great! Rocki is one of the owners and she designs her own lingerie-it's fun, sexy and a lost of the corsets can be worn over certain types of shirts...I could so easily picture everything that was described. In fact I went looking for a corset the next day (Shiloh-my hubby thanks you).

So while Rocki is finishing up a display, the door chimes and she looks over to see a stunningly beautiful woman and a hunkalicious man. An engaged couple who owns a new high end lingerie shop down the street.

Mara wants Rocki's designer "Lush," but no one will clue her in on how to get a hold of the designer. So Mara finally deigns to enter Lush and Lace, and she instantly dismisses Rocki as beneath her. Now I don't want to give too much away, especially since this book releases today, but the side plot of Mara trying to steal Rocki's designer adds an element of intrigue to the already suspenseful plot that Rocki might have a dangerous stalker.

Meanwhile, Cole, Mara's fiance, realizes that Mara is a very unhappy person who has turned into a cruel bitch right before his eyes. Breaking off his engagement to Mara was both freeing and long-overdue. But how to convince Rocki of that?

One thing about this book was that the stalker was amazingly accurate. He was such a great villain, that I would love to see Shiloh Walker write a full-length romantic suspense--she absolutely has the talent and the creativity. Her bad guy was just soo well-done.

The way Rocki grew and learned from her past was perfect for the character she had become. My favorite part of this story was that I liked the characters. Our heroine never had a TSTL moment, and the hero was protective but not in a territorial "I have to pee around my mate kind of way." It was nice to watch them fall in love and it wasn't too fast, or unbelievable. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

My only teeny problem was that I felt it ended too quickly. Well, that and I wished Mara had been hit by a bus or something. Hey, she deserved it! And good for Cole for sticking up for himself and Rocki.

My Nook lists the pdf as 92 pages, and I read it in one shot. Shiloh Walker writes believable characters and intensely suspenseful storylines, this is a must read for any fans of romantic suspense or contemporary romance.

See my complete review at: Read My Mind

My Review:
I absolutely loved Shiloh Walker's character, Rocki. She is an independent business owner, a confident and sexy woman, she knows her own mind, and she knows what she wants. She is the kind of heroine that I always want to see in the novels that I read, be they contemporary, paranormal, or historical. And, here's the thing: she is an average woman. She has curves where a woman should, and Walker does a fantastic job of showcasing Rocki's lushness, while not making the fact that another woman considers her "fat" into a plot device where Rocki feels insecure when it comes to naked sexytimes with Cole. Rocki even slaps down the woman who insults her, with an acute sense of her own power, and a minimum of trash-talk. Seriously, I think I have a girl crush.

Cole and Rocki are both complex characters, no less than what I would expect from a Shiloh Walker book, but every time I read something from her, I am amazed at the depth that goes into her writing. I've read some of her print novels, as well as some of her e-book novels, and she is one of the few authors that I find the same emotional intensity is involved in novella and full-length novel. The instant attraction that Cole feels for Rocki (even though he is engaged at the time, to another woman) feels right. Sure, it reads as lust, but I like how Cole is not one to indulge in that lust before he is a free man, and even then, he's not looking for just a mindless sexual encounter.

I think I could go on for a while about why I enjoyed reading TEMPT ME, but I will cut myself short, in the interest of my readers. I'll say that I connected immediately with this book. TEMPT ME is the second independent project that Shiloh Walker has done. Her first, BEG ME, tackled an issue that many others might consider taboo, and she did a really good job with it. When I had the opportunity to request an advance copy of TEMPT ME, I jumped on it. It's a sensual read, that's not without serious undertones. So, if you are the type wanting to dip into a contemporary romance, with erotic scenes, this is the book for you. And those who are already Shiloh Walker fans, will find TEMPT ME a great read.

4/5 for plot
5/5 for characters
4/5 for language

This is a short book.
Roxanne "Rocki" is the owner of a lingerie shop called Lush and Lace. She sells corsets for different type of female bodies. She is actually the one who designs them.
She meets Cole Stanton when he comes to her store with his fiancee, Mara. They will be the competition since Mara is opening her own lingerie store and wants to hire the designer of the beautiful corsets.
Rocki refuses to reveal the name since she had an instant dislike for Mara why is arrogant and rude. She does notice Cole and wonders why such an attractive man is about to married such an angry person.
Cole feels instant attraction to Rocki and he realizes his fiancee has changed into a mean spirited woman.
They attend Rocki's fundraiser in memory of her late husband who was a cop who died in the line of duty five years ago. The engagement is broken and Cole pays for a date with Rocki.
In the middle of all this, we learned that Rocki had a stalker before her marriage and he is back in her life and is threatening her.
This was an easy read. I enjoyed it. I do wish it was longer.

I read this story when it came as a bonus read with The Virgin's Night Out back 02/12/15

THIS story was like a 10 star for me. GAH, I cried thru an entire chapter! I loved everything about it! Roxi was the perfect character to play a heroine who falls in love at first sight. Really! And that goes to show you how good Shiloh Walker is at character development and overall structure. She didn't miss a beat with this one. It's such a short story, but it packs a punch like I havent felt in a while. Ive never really been one to enjoy short stories because there's never enough time to either develop the story properly or bring it full circle properly or the characters are lacking. Yea, not here. This story was about second chances, seizing the moment, growth, love, support ... it's just EVERYTHING! LOL
I dont want to give you any details about the story itself because it IS short, and I would end up telling you everything, just know that you need a few tissues when you read this :)

This was an interesting one. I liked Rocki right away, even as she was a bit melancholy. Cole on the other hand, I wasn't sure about him, mostly due to the company he kept. His fiancé was a bitch! I was so glad when Cole finally showed her the door, but I wish that he would have done it in a way to humiliate her, she deserved it.

Rocki's past surprised me, of her husband, how they met, how their relationship ended. I loved how Rocki kept his memory close.

Once Cole was divested of the bitch, I liked how he interacted with Rocki, loved how things progressed with them.

This wasn't as intense as SW's first Smashwords release - Beg Me - so I am not feeling as strongly about it. The story is about 32,000 words and as in some SW shorts I read, I felt that the suspense element (a stalker, natch!) took away from the story as a whole since there really wasn't room for proper development.

I read Tempt Me as a bonus read with The Virgin's Night Out

Is a sensuous novella about a voluptuous lingerie shop owner/designer/creator who is all that. Creativity honours fallen husband, has a dangerous stalker & attracts Mr Gorgeous (oh so lucky girl)

Ahh love at first sight. Love feeling good as I finish. (less)

Tempt me…

She’s a temptation he can’t resist…
Roxanne ‘Rocki’ Monroe’s life is full of secrets and hidden heartaches. Cole Stanton would love to heal her pain and chase away the ghosts of her past, but she’s just a complication he doesn’t have room for in his life.
Or so he thinks.

It doesn’t take Cole long to realize he’s more than willing to let temptation get the best of him, more than happy to deal with complications if that’s what it takes to get her.
What he has and what he needs are two different things…and what he needs is Rocki.

Rocki Monroe runs a lingerie shop that is full of gorgeously crafted bustiers and other pieces made to make a woman feel beautiful. She is in the midst of planning a benefit for local police when she meets Cole Stanton. Cole's fiancee Mara is planning to open a competing lingerie shop nearby and she wants the name of Rocki's supplier, Lush. Little does she know, Rocki *is* Lush, a nickname she picked up from her husband, a cop who was killed in the line.

From the moment Cole and Rocki lay eyes on each other, they are attracted. Rocki because Cole is physically beautiful, and Cole because Rocki is so confident and comfortable in her skin. Plus, he loves her curves. But of course, they are off limits to each other because Cole is engaged to Mara. But lately, Mara has been cold and difficult, and some of the bloom is off the rose for Cole.

Mara contrives to get herself to the benefit in order to further push Rocki to tell who her supplier is. Imagine her anger when she realizes it's Rocki and that the "fat cow" was the one creating all those beautiful pieces. Needless to say, Mara's horrible attitude is enough for Cole to decide this is not the woman he wants to be with, and he breaks off the engagement. Moments later, he finds himself bidding on a date with Rocki.

Cole and Rocki have terrific chemistry together and they hit it off almost immediately, their attraction growing with every interaction. But Mara will not be put aside easily, and Rocki's own past is coming back to haunt her. Will they be able to find a way to be together?

There is a lot to like about this book. Cole and Rocki are both extremely likable characters. Rocki is a plus sized heroine, which always appeals to me as a reader, especially one who is so comfortable and confident. Cole is a dream hero. He's compassionate, sweet, a tiger in bed, and loaded, but not conceited with it. The sex scenes are spicy and well written. Yet somehow, I didn't connect with this book. I think part of it is that the obstacles that were thrown in to the story for the couple to overcome where just too much. Mara, Cole's fiancee, is just EVIL. I mean, she seemed to have no redeeming characteristics at all. So why on Earth would someone who seems as intelligent as Cole be with her? I didn't find his reasoning to be convincing. Likewise, Rocki's past comes up almost as a flashing plot device. I would have MUCH preferred that the story just focus on the development of the couple's relationship without the danger aspect. It was unneeded and frankly, a bit eye-rolling for me.

That being said, I found the romance itself to be sweetly written and the characters tremendously likable. Despite unbelievable obstacles being thrown at the couple, Tempt Me is an engaging, novella with likable characters and a tender finish.

Final grade: B-/C+

Rocki Monroe is owner of the lingerie shop, Lush & Lace. She sells corsets and other classy pieces of lingerie to make women of all shapes and sizes feel special. She has worked hard to make this shop successful since her husband’s death five years ago. To honor his memory, each year she holds a masquerade charity benefit at her shop.

Cole ends up attending the benefit with his fiancé Mara, who is opening up her own lingerie shop. His fiancé wants the name of Rocki’s designer, and will do anything to get it. Although engaged to be married, Cole looks at Mara and doesn’t recognize this cold, selfish woman anymore. Sick of her attitude, he breaks things off with her at the benefit and in a rash move, bids to go out on a date with Rocki. They have instant chemistry and are both drawn to each other. Unfortunately, Rocki’s past is going to haunt her again. Eleven years ago she had a stalker, and now she is receiving threats again. This time though, she has Cole to turn to for support.

Tempt Me is a hard book for me to rate. I liked it, but at the same time there was not really any moments, nor characters that really caught my interest. It is a pretty straight forward story of instant attraction, with a little suspense from the stalker. Rocki is a nice heroine and I liked the fact that she is a widow who is still grieving her husband. She still wears his ring sometimes and he is on her mind a lot. I believed she was ready to move on and I liked her attraction to Cole.

Mara is a bit much to take. She is super bitchy, and you can’t help but not like her – but she seemed a little over the top. It was a lot to take in a short book to watch Cole break up with his fiancé and fall in love with another woman by the end of the story. There is not any conflict between Cole and Rocki within the story – only outside conflict of the stalker and Mara. Cole and Rocki’s relationship seemed too nicely tied up.

But like I said, I liked this one. Rocki takes a chance on romance – she has this brave side of her that comes out that I enjoyed. I just don’t find myself thinking about this one after “The End.”

An irresistible temptation for both…

Roxanne (Rocki) Monroe is the sexy owner of a lingerie shop and also the designer of items that she sells. She’s a strong independent woman who has known fear and devastating loss and after five years she’s feeling loneliness. She hasn’t been drawn to any man in a long time until “Mr. Gorgeous” walks into her shop and draws her attention. It’s too bad that he’s engaged to a nasty ice queen. I loved how Rocki dealt with this woman who wanted her help yet insulted her at every turn. Rocki’s sassiness made me smile often.

When we first meet the gorgeous Cole Stanton he’s with his fiancé and there is clearly no love between them. This reader became worried for cheating is not a subject that I want to read about but the author handled things well for me and I was so happy for Cole for it was obvious from his thoughts that he was not a happily engaged man. I give him credit for doing what needed to be done before moving forward with the attraction that he felt for Rocki from their first meeting, she was definitely temptation.

We have a strong heroine who has vulnerabilities and is not afraid to show them or of going for what she wants. We have a supportive hero who unexpectedly finding that he has walked into an unpleasant situation does not turn away. I really liked both these characters and the communication between them. I could not get a feel for their ages though. They both seemed mature and confident so I doubted that they were in their twenties.

This story is instant attraction that turns to more with some added suspense. Marriage is not mentioned at the ending which I appreciated as they are in the falling in love stage, doing what is right for them and moving at their own pace. Their time together has begun and I have no doubt in their future HEA.

I read this novella as part of the Bound Temptations anthology but this review just includes my thoughts on Tempt Me:

This was my favourite of the two stories. I really liked Rocki, she is the widow of a policeman who now runs her own lingerie store, life has been hard but she is ready to move on and find love again. I loved the fact that she isn't a skinny supermodel type, she has curves and is happy and confident about her fuller figure that she shows off wearing the corsets and the other lingerie she sells in her store. It's so nice to read about a woman who has no insecurities about her body and it was one of the things that drew Cole to her.

Unfortunately I wasn't as keen on Cole, he starts the story engaged to ice cold bitch Mara. Now as much as I hated Mara with a passion and felt she deserved to be kicked to the kerb it irritated me that Cole is completely oblivious to how awful she is until he is attracted to another woman. Suddenly after one meeting with Rocki he realises what a cow his fiancee is and decides to dump her. Then before you know it Rocki (who is still nursing a broken heart for the husband who died 5 years ago - she even wears her wedding ring still) and Cole are madly in love despite the fact they've only met a handful of times and been on a couple of dates. I know things have to move fast in a novella but that was just too fast for me and didn't make it believable. The story had real potential but I felt it could have been so much better if it had been given more page time.

Redonk Nutshell: Widowed lingerie shop owner falls into an unexpected 2nd chance at love

This is a lovely contemporary novella by veteran romance author Shiloh Walker. Roxanne ‘Rocki’ Monroe runs a successful lingerie boutique with her best friend. When tall glass of "oh HELLO there" Cole Stanton walks in one day with his stick-up-her-ass fiancee, Rocki acknowledges her uninhibited reaction to him but pushes it aside in order to assist his fiancee. When Cole calls off his engagement to his affianced crazy, he shyly follows up with Rocki by buying her as a date for a benefit auction.

Their connection is instant and consuming, surprising both of them. They each are forced to deal with scary skeletons in their individual closets before they realize they want to be together.

Tempt Me is a nice breath of fresh air, a palette cleanser, if you will, between mushy and fluffy romance novels. Don't get me wrong - this baby's fluffy. But it's also raw. Rocki is still reeling from the loss of her husband several years ago, and Cole is brokenhearted to find the woman he had once wanted to spend his life with has changed into a woman he can barely stand. When together their lives fit together like intricate puzzle pieces.

This is a heavy and striking short story that's guaranteed to leave a smile on your face.

A novella that just leaped off the page for me and it didn't hurt that it was written by one of my favorite authors, either. A full-figured woman has now turned her long-time love of designing lingerie for BBW into a business and a partnership with her best friend. "Lush & Lace" caters to women who find the skinny "norm" of the society and fashion magazines to be unrealistic and probably never possible for them. Roxanne (Rocki) Monroe knows how to design for them because she is one of them. A widow whose cop-husband was killed five years earlier has now seen the first man in those long lonely, grieving years who "makes her heart flip" and Cole Stanton seems to invade her thoughts right from the first. But he's initially "taken" by a fiancee who is a bitchy competitor with Rocki and one who thinks of her and women like her as a "cow." Cole's opinion is quite different, and this short little story, so well put together and using language so efficiently, tells the story of their meeting, their first encounters, and the hurt from the past that won't leave Rocki alone. what a great read--I just couldn't find anything about it to keep me from giving it my best rating. Novella though it may be, it is a story that true romance fiction lovers shouldn't miss.

This rocking short story by Shiloh Walker captivated me from start to finish. I made the mistake of starting it very late one evening and stayed up into the wee hours to finish it because I had to know had it ended before I could sleep.

Rocki is a policeman’s widow who uses her creative talent to start a business and make a name for herself. Rather than sit around and mourn, she capitalizes on her local fame to raise money for the families of slain officers.

Cole’s fiancé, Mara, plans to become Rocki’s business competition and drags him along while she tries to discover where Rocki buys her merchandise. Something about Rocki catches Cole’s attention and, because of Mara’s scheming, they’re thrown together. Try as he might, he can’t seem to stay away from her.

Tempt Me is fast paced and packed with hotness. It’s a great pick-me-up guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Tempt Me; Would I recommend it? Yes

Review; I loved this short story. The ending came too soon for me though. I feel it should have been longer, but maybe that was just me enjoying the story so much. Who knows?
The characters for me were realistic. The romance was a bit too fast, but I could still believe it. The story was short, and there were only so many weeks within the story, but I still felt that enough happened. A lot happened in that short time to make it interesting, and the focus wasn't entirely on the romance or erotic aspect! I also liked the fact that there was emotions involved, a lot of romantic erotica stories are purely about the sex, but this story involved the emotion too. I would recommend this story to friends, and I'm recommending it to you all now. I really enjoyed it, and I hope you will too.

Cole Stanton would love to chase Rocki Monroe’s pain and ghosts of the past away but she is one complication he doesn’t need in his life – or so he thinks in this riveting contemporary romance.

Roxanne ‘Rocki’ Monroe’s pain may start to heal if she finds the right man – one worth risking her heart for again but right now, she’ll run her lingerie store and the reader can’t help but taken in by these strong compelling characters as two unsavory characters try to take it all away. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers shivering in anticipation with suspense and passion as Rocki and Cole’s sizzling desires for each other pull their life onto another path. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination while spine tingling excitement builds when Rocki’s life is endangered by another ghost from her past.

I found this story to be a quick and enjoyable read full of passion and second chances that captures the heart.

What can I say; Shiloh Walker has done it again. This is a remarkable love story; sexy, tender, and believable.

Roxanne (Rocki), 5 years after her husband (the love of her life) is killed in the line of duty has found a way to move on. She owns a specialty lingerie shop, designs courtier corsets and is living her life albeit lonely.
Cole is a handsome attorney and is engaged to be married. Cole’s fiancé is a spoiled shrew which is wearing thin on Cole. As Cole tags along with his fiancé on a fact finding visit to Rocki’s shop, Cole is instantly aware of Rocki and her of him…..
This is a must read for anyone who enjoys good romance!

I love Ms. Walker stories. She never fails to move my heart with her characters. In Tempt Me, I fell in love with Lush. She's strong, admirable and so sexy. The sensual lingerie store she opened was great and made me want to find a place that sells corsets.

The sparks between Rocki (Lush) and Cole were great to watch. Cole is a dream man. This short story of their romance hit all the right buttons for me. Ms. Walker's stories keep me engaged and unable to put down the story until I'm done. I recommend this to people who love a bit of saddest added to a romance which ends in happily ever after.

Ok, I admit it. I had high hope for this short story. I love Shiloh Walker's work. I wasn't disappointed. Yes, it's short. Yes, the author had to make the whole "I knew you were special the first time I saw you leap". But, the characters were well thought out. The situations made sense. Even the stalker subplot seemed reasonable (except he waited 5 years after her husband died to go after her). My one tweak, whiny Mara either needs to slapped or saved. Afterall the hero is tied to her financially. I hate the annoying hangy threads!

What a great book.

Shows how a woman can overcome being stalked and attacked. Make a life for herself and fight back. How she can find a great man who cares for her for who she is.

This is a great book for plus size women it help to empower us and let us know we are fine just the way we are.

Thank you for writing such an empowering book. I can feel better about my size from how you described Roxie and I love it.
