The great thing about doing the Fairytales challenge is that I get to read these to my youngest daughter. I really like the Snow Queen, I wish I could have found the original version, but this is the only one I could find right now. I would have loved to have more details, but for the age group it was meant for it was great. My 6 year old definitely enjoyed it.

A tale based on the Hans Christian Andersen's story concerning two friends. One became ensnared by the power of the Snow Queen, and the other who set out to rescue and break the spell of evil.

There's a great deal of unsolicited kissing going on in this book...

This is a hard tale to introduce to children. It's very long (fifty pages can be a lot for a little guy, even if they don't have much text on them!), and there's just so much going on. But given the length and weight of the tale, Lesley Sims did a pretty alright job. It's perhaps a bit too dumbed down in places - there is a way to speak in a manner that children will understand AND be poetic - but there's no denying that it gets the story across.
