"Which is the true nightmare, the horrific dream that you have in your sleep or the dissatisfied reality that awaits you when you awake?"

- Justin Alcala

Never in his wildest dreams has Kirk Ingram thought that his life will turn out to be such a complicated, perilous and haunting drama. He was spending too much of his time into his career that he didn't think much of his lovely wife and daughter. Certain circumstances remind him of his duties toward his beloved family. So he decides to ride his career on the backseat and have a happy life with his family.

Unless. Something was about to be altered. And it was going to be rough on him.

Life was about to show him how much unfair it can be.

Seeing his family wiped off before his eyes, Ingram has focused his lenses on a prime objective. Terminating the organized crimes in all forms and fetch justice for his family. Either do the job or perish in its pursuit.

Douglas Misquita's distinct writing style, shape-shifting plots, breathtaking characters and eventually the robust emotions it carried throughout the book is suffice to entertain any thriller reader. His books turn the pages themselves. Fasten your seat belts and be enthralled with the creativity.

In particular, I have noticed in his books that at once, he deals with a piles of social issues. From terrorism to police politics, suicide bombers to drug dealers - he has obtained a word for each of these horrifying situations.

Some might find too much detailing as a shortcoming for this thriller but overall, one is bound to admire it. Sketching action scenes is a talent the author is gifted with. His style is unmatchable.

I eagerly look forward to the next installments.

A thrilling read, Haunted is an intelligent book with a brilliant plot that will keep the reader on his/her toes and make them want to move on to the next page ASAP!
FBI Agent Kirk Ingram's family is brutally murdered under his nose and he is helpless in the situation. From there, the story moves to various happenings all over. The characters and their names do get a bit confusing, but that is what makes it all the more interesting. It makes the reader want to know more and more... Some of the really impressive characters were all the FBI Agents and the smart detectives as also the ones that pose a threath. Besides being a battle to maintain stability and save the lives of innocent people, the book also speaks of how the Agents leave behind their families to save the world and yet are willing to lay down their lives for their families AND a good cause at the same time.
Overall, I'd say the entire story is gripping and totally worth reading.

Haunted is an Action Thriller.

FBI Special Agent Kirk Ingram has just found out his wife plans on leaving him if he doesn't pay attention to his family and less attention to his career. On the night he plans to put his job on the backburner and spend his future with his wife, Madeline, and his daughter, Lisa, events occur that will irrecovacably change their lives forever. As the family is driving home from a family outing, Kirk receives a phone call telling him he had better listen or his family will die.

Agreeing to meet the mysterious people, he soon comes to realize that it is a trap and his family are in serious danger. After a shoot out with Mafia members who have a revenge agenda and some FBI backup, Kirk's like is about to become haunted by the memories of this night. Life, as he once knew it, is about to change forever.

Vowing to wipe out organized crime at any cost, Kirk must face his own demons while struggling to remove them from society. In the end, only truth and justice shall prevail!

I enjoyed reading the action found within the pages, it keeps you turning them and you can almost visualize the events unfolding. They are described in such detail that you cannot help but become enthralled with the narrative.

There were many aspects to grasp, such as, terrorism, revenge, police red tape, suicide bombings and death on almost every page. The characters are all wrapped up in a tale that leaves the reader wondering what is happening and who is the antagonists as you continue to read the plot as it twists and turns.

The dialogue was often written with clarity and it read well and the thoughts shared with the reader remained believable throughout the story. I did find a few of the back stories concerning the FBI agents to be redundant and not necessary for the plot to further develop.

I would give Haunted a three out of five stars. While I enjoyed the action scenes, the continual addition of characters was frustrating and it often interrupted with the reading flow as you sometimes needed to backtrack in order to realize the situation at hand. I also found some of the back stories lacked depth and I was often drawn out of the story. However, if you enjoy reading some great action scenes then you will certainly enjoy reading Haunted.

Haunted - A Kirk Ingram Action Thriller is a well-established sensational thriller produced by Douglas Misquita. I could hardly believe Douglas is a debut writer while looking at his unique approach in joining the dots in a plot related to the legal thriller story. Thought it is not an earth-shattering piece, surely one the reader can enjoy at every flip of the page.

The plot centers around the principal character Kirk Ingram. An FBI Special Agent who has been morally, physically, and mentally devastated due to the incident where his family has been brutally murdered right in front of him. Krik recollects all his energy and self-confidence to gets back on toes to destroy all the organized crimes in the city.

The best thing about this is the character development. Each character is so different from one another and yet so similar! They faced the same problem with so calmness and cleverly that I'm drooling over every one of them. I fell in love with all of them and their different personalities. Besides the main plot, everyone has a personal and interesting storyline as well. I can only imagine how it all pieces together with a cast of interesting characters that found their way into this piece.

The writing style is lucid and easy to read. The title obviously keeps you guessing throughout. The level of suspense was perfect, and I never knew who and what to trust and believe. I kept thinking about possible solutions even when I wasn't reading. I thought I had discovered every possible solution, but I was still surprised at the end. It's thoroughly enjoyable to read, and I rate this book with 5 out of 5 stars.

Superb!! And I am putting it mildly, believe me! When I got this book, I was already reading something else, but did a sneak peak of the first couple of pages, and I was hooked.
You read this book, and you will feel its a best seller by a seasoned author! But no! Douglas is a new boy in the Indian literary scene and I am still wondering why there still hasnt been enough hype heard about him and his book. Move over CB and the host of writers who think they can write, Douglas is a star story teller. I was so impressed by the book, that I feel my praises might sound like a paid review! Try reading it one, you will thank me!
Story of an FBI agent who loses his wife and daughter, the story spans around continents. Very fresh, yet the writing style is polished and well practiced. Excellent editing, and superb story-telling.

Rating: 4.5/5

Having read and absolutely loved Douglas Misquita’s action thriller, “Trigger Point“, I was excited to check out his debut book, Haunted. Do know you Douglas Misquita is India’s only Action Thriller writer? Yes, Douglas Misquita is India’s first author who writes only action thrillers!

So, if you have read his books, you know his books are extensively researched and excitingly thrilling!

The same goes for Haunted by Douglas Misquita. Here we meet a hardcore good cop, Kirk Ingram who is devoted to saving innocent lives from dangerous criminals. A devastating turn of events leave him heartbroken, haunted by nightmares, and vengeful.
When a dangerous nerve agent goes missing, and is feared to be in the wrong hands, it is upto Kirk to save innocent lives. But can this tortured hero race against time and catch the dangerous criminals planning a deadly attack?

Will brave FBI Agent, Kirk Ingram be able to save anyone?

I absolutely sat engrossed throughout this book. The story is so exciting that I lost track of time as I read it!

With scenes that seem like watching a Hollywood action movie, I was totally bowled over and can easily imagine watching it on TV. Here the criminals are resourceful, the hero daring, and there is danger every where!

The story jumps continents, the emotional play is rich. So, I cried, hooted in joy and was sucked in the excitement.

The plot is expertly planned and executed. Hence, it is extensively researched so that nothing seems unreal. If I didn’t know before hand, I could never guess that this is the debut book of the author because the writing is like that of a seasoned writer. And so fluid that every thing played like a technicolour movie in my mind.

All in all, Haunted by Douglas Misquita is intense, adventurous, action packed thriller that takes the readers on an exhilarating roller coaster ride in the world of crime and the brave people who fight against it!

So, it is a book I can easily see adapted as a movie or a TV series. This story will excite and interest all action thriller fans. If you love books by Dan Brown, James Patterson, and Michael Connelly, then Njkinny recommends this book and all books by Douglas Misquita to you!

So, go read this engrossing book and gift it to an action, adventure thriller fan.

I look forward to reading more from the author in the future and hope he writes action thrillers featuring the brave Indian Police men and women.

The Good:
1. For a debutante, the author has composed an exquisite piece. The writing is lucid. The descriptions are detailed (too detailed perhaps). Sentences are crisp to the point where the book reads like a script for a film, and not a literary work.
2. The story is complex, with a plethora of sub-plots which move like silo-s, eventually to converge at a reasonably happy ending.

The Bad:
1) This hackneyed central conceit of an officer losing all to organised crime, and then trying to redeem himself through the grind of saving the world (or at least his job), has been done to death.
2) Watching a guy go around demolishing the schemes of one (or more) evil mastermind(s) single-handedly looks good in James Bond movies or Tom Cruise MI series, where action is peppered by lively wit & banter. No such thing happens here. At times I felt like approaching the hero, i.e. Kirk Ingram, and his direct or indirect companions, with a knife simply to impress upon them the Joker's maxim "let's put a smile on your face".

The Ugly:
Why the f**k is an Indian writer, who is so gifted in terms of penmanship as well as abilities to do research (or get it done by a team), writing formulaic stuff, keeping some FBI Special Agent at the centre? Is it with the aim of penetrating the US market? If so, then I wish him all the very best, and move away from this series.
If, however, he is looking for a gritty character, who needs to avenge a wrongdoing against the backdrop of corruption and hatred, then I strongly recommend him to learn about and capture the unsung heroes of the Indian army, the Police force, and paramilitary agencies, who lose all in the line of duty. Perhaps, by redeeming such real life heroes through his thrillers, he can do real justice to his talent.

This is an action packed thriller book. The story revolves around FBI agent Kirk Ingram and was unfortunate to see his own wife and daughter being murdered in front of his eyes.

It was very sad and depressing to see the struggles of Kirk. Following a tip-off concerning a human trafficking ring in Los Angeles, Ingram leads a disasterous federal raid on a warehouse owned by Gunther Trade. The topics involved are very important to understand as it covers a lot of social issues.

Diving to recover historic artefacts from a shipwreck, marine archaeologist Edward Gunner is attacked and his yacht sunk. Within hours, his daughter, Amanda, is running for her life. Only a fortitious encounter with Ingram saves her.

As Ingram goes head-to-head with businessman Lars Gunther, clues from the Gunner case reveal Gunther Trade is the common denominator in the FBI and LAPD investigations... and might even answer the questions facing every intelligence agency: Who has Citex? What are the targets? Will he be able to save Edward ?

A very mysterious read. A different plot. The language is simple and easy to understand. The characterisation is simple. I love the writing style of the author. This book should definitively be made as a movie too.

Haunted by Douglas Misquita is a breath of fresh air in the Indian fiction. Treating the book like a lurid thriller, the author goes for an audacious tone and a brisk pace, grabbing your attention from the very word go. The action scenes have a vivid description and brings you straight to the center of the action. Even though the fact that some scenes 'inspired' from the Mission Impossible, The Bourne Identity and Die Hard series is difficult to ignore, the book keeps you on tenterhooks and provides a tight thriller which is difficult to put down. My favourite scene is the one action scene which happens underwater and is well written to capture the essence of the narrative.

There are new characters introduced on every 10-15 pages and if you are not attentive, there is a good chance you may miss a few of them. It is not a bad idea to read this book in fewer sittings to enjoy it to the maximum potential. These characters are the emotional core and the reason the book remains grounded even when the plot occasionally teeters on the brink of sheer cheesiness. The quirky, witty conversations between them amidst crazy things going all around them forms the most enjoyable portions of the book.

The book flirts with terrorism, suicide bombers, killings, police politics and revenge drama. Even though these revelations aren't of an earth-shattering magnitude, and the book feels naive for presenting them as such. But despite its shortcomings, the book works as a brisk thriller that sustains dramatic tension throughout. The book runs out of steam in the middle portions where the actions scenes are abundant, but brings in a fatigue factor. Couple of sub-plots involving the various FBI agents are unnecessarily stretched and could have been better edited better.

But these are mere nitpicking's in an otherwise engaging, engrossing action pack adventure. Despite not much novelty on a plot-level, it works big time with a brisk pace, crispy editing and tight screenplay. I am going with 3.5/5 for Douglas Misquita's 'Haunted'. Read it if you are a fan of this genre, You will remain haunted a long time after you have finished the book.

I finally managed to set aside some time to read 'Haunted'. It was a good thing I didn't make plans for the rest of the evening, because this is one of those books that hooks you and draws you in. It's fast-paced and action-filled, never a dull moment here - almost like a movie script. The plot unfolds chapter-by-chapter making you wonder what's going to happen next. The style of writing makes you feel like you're right there - you'll probably want to duck to make sure you don't get hit by a stray bullet! Great attention to detail. A classic good guy-bad guy storyline.
This is the first thriller I've read by an Indian author. I'm more of the Clancy/ Ludlum/ Demille/McNab/Berry/Rollins kinda guy, but 'Haunted' was a gripping read. It's really surprising that this is just Douglas Misquita's first book. Doesn't have the feel of a first-timer.
'Haunted' is the perfect type of book for the current season. If you're a fan of the thriller genre, you can sit by the window with some hot chai (or hot chocolate in my case) and a plate (or a few plates) of hot bhajjis and let yourself be lost in the world of Kirk Ingram. Just one thing, make sure you have some free time because you're going to want to read this book cover to cover at one go!
Great job Douglas Misquita! Looking out for the next in the series.

FBI Special Agent Kirk Ingram has lived through a nightmare. On the verge of taking a desk job so that he could spend more time with his family, he instead is targeted and watches as his family is massacred in front of him. He is the only survivor and when he recuperates, he returns to work, more determined than ever to put an end to the criminal activity around him.

There are plenty of candidates for his expertise, but he is assigned to uncovering and stopping a vicious network of Balkan terrorists. This network is used by a cabal of deposed leaders from other countries and greedy industrialists. They have combined to capture the sole cache of a deadly nerve gas which they intend to use as leverage to extract billions from governments around the world. Ingram's assignment is to stop them before they can succeed.

Douglas Misquita has written a heartstopping action novel. The reader is swept up in the very visual language that Misquita uses. This language allows the reader to visualize the scenes he is describing as if they were watching a suspense movie; in fact, this book would be an excellent source for such a movie. This book is recommended for readers who love fast-paced books with tons of action.

An excellent plot, the entire story is so gripping that readers desperately feels to move on next page. An action packed, fast paced novel. The author’s way of describing the whole thriller is really awesome; he knows what readers want to read. Command on the language is good. The crime scenes are described with good narrative. Sometimes it seams like you are watching a Hollywood movie. FBI, terrorism, suspense, revenge, loyalty, helicopters, ships, CIA, etc every ingredient needed for thriller is very well intertwined in the book. Each and every character has given due importance.
One of the best things which I liked is about underwater action mentioned in the book. A must read for the fan of mystery, detective and action-thrillers.
NOTE: It’s a spoiler free review, so grab the book, I guarantee you will not regret.

Found the book to be excellent and was unable to put it down . loved the style of the author where he is able to bring every minute detail of the story to life . U can see every bullet hole, smell the smoking gun barrels and hear every glass shattering.
every individual in the book, however insignificant, is given his own character and story . the mark of a great writer is when he is able to totally immerse you in the world he has created and here is a writer who is able to do it in spades.
Totally worth checking this book out
