Nightfall is the second installment of Norah Wilson’s A Vampire Romance series, and the war against the rogue vampires who are preying on the less fortunate among us, continues. The homeless, the drug addicts, the prostitutes… anyone who won’t be missed if they don’t come home at night are especially vulnerable, but in this book we’re introduced to another unique player in the battle, Samantha Shea, whose ability promises to make a big dent in the rogue vampire population.

Our hot, sexy hunter is Aiden Afflack--
“Sorry, you said Affleck? Like Ben Affleck?”

“No, not like Ben. It’s Afflack with an A, like the duck says.”

Yeah, and he was cute and harmless as that duck. Right.
**clears throat** – as I was saying, Aiden Afflack is a vampire hunter and one of the best there is, but there’s something about him that, when he’s near Sam Shea, kicks her ability into overdrive and turns them into an unstoppable team. From the start there's an attraction between them that can't be denied, and fortunately for Aiden and Sam - and us - they don't bother trying.

The bottom line - Nightfall is not only exciting and romantic, but burn up the pages hot. Aiden is one of the sexiest vampires I've read in a long time, and he made the story for me. If Sam ever decides she doesn't want him anymore... oh, baby... six ways to Sunday... just sayin'...

A few minor editing issues kept this from being a solid 5 stars, but I'm giving it 4.5/5 stars because I fell so hard for Aiden.

I'm so happy the author offered these books to me for review, and can't wait to read more in this series. Eli's story. Or RJ's... are you listening Ms. Wilson?

I still remember my first Norah Wilson with the fondest memories. The Merzetti Effect, her first book in The Vampire Romance series is one I still recall at the oddest moments, the hero Delano Bowen one of my utmost favorite heroes and needless it is to say that I have been awaiting eagerly for the second book of the series which turns out to be Nightfall.

Nightfall tells the story of Dr. Delano Bowen’s most trusted friend and vampire hunter Aiden Afflack. Aiden, a vampire himself has made it his lifelong mission to hunt and kill rogue vampires who prey on weak humans, who feeds on their helplessness to boost whatever high it is that they get from preying on the weak.

Samantha Shea is a photographer; the type who captures the beauty that is nature in its most violent forms. Quite accidentally Sam’s unerring visions that leads her to the freakish happenstances of nature collides with that of Aiden’s presence alerting her to rogue vampire activities which puts her in the path of the too sexy for his own good Aiden.

When Aiden finds out that Sam has an innate ability which lets her hone in on rogue vampires, Aiden finds himself striking a bargain with the woman whose photographs adorn all his properties in the various parts of the world to help him and his mentor in their quest to prevent the nefarious activities of vampires who go rogue.

From the very first moment that Sam lays eyes on Aiden, she can’t deny the powerful lure that the sexy vampire is on all her senses. Though Sam would like nothing more than to bury her head in the sand and forget that Aiden and what he does exists, the inherent goodness deep inside of her doesn’t allow her to stand aside whilst she has the ability to do something to help.

Aiden has never found himself at the receiving end of a woman who has ever been able to say no to his charms ever since he embraced vampirism more than a century back. But in Sam, Aiden finds a woman who is helplessly drawn to him as he is to her and yet draws on that inner strength to say no until she is well and ready to surrender. Being never one to back down from a challenge and because Sam intrigues him in a way that no woman has in a long, long time, Aiden finds himself in a game of seduction that proves to be as alluring for the reader as it is for Sam.

Aiden and Sam’s story is quite different from The Merzetti Effect in the sense that it is less intense in nature. Aiden though a vampire and a hunter of his own species is a pretty charming guy with a heart that believes that the choices he had made which had turned him a vampire are ones that he should be ashamed of, which makes him tortured enough to be that more alluring.

Aiden and Sam together is a heartwarming combination. They tend to have the best conversations and I say this because through each and every single one of them, I found a reason to smile and be completely immersed in their banter even through the most hair raising moments of the story.

Sam’s character once again proves how Norah ALWAYS manages to deliver heroines who are so easy to fall in love with right from the very start. The way Sam admits her growing attraction to Aiden without being all coy about it, and how she gives all of herself to him when she realizes the error of her ways were facets of her character that I fell so much in love with.

The romance and attraction between Aiden and Sam which starts out with the I-must-have-you-now type of lust and transforms into a love so tender and beautiful towards the end was one of the best aspects of the story. Though Norah does introduce us to a couple more intriguing characters about whom I would LOVE to know more of, together with the tough and sexy Eli Grayson, sadly there is no indication as to whose story she would publish next in this series.

Though Nightfall didn’t turn out to be as fantastic as the first book which still remains my favorite, I still enjoyed this vampire romance immensely and would recommend this to fans of Norah Wilson and fans of vampire romances featuring a sinfully sexy vampire hero who just makes your toes curl in anticipation whenever he is around!

A romance that flows smoothly and is beautiful in its sensuality, Nightfall is a novel that once again proves Norah’s ability to never fail in delivering exactly what the reader wants!

Norah Wilson

Drawn to nature’s most volatile demonstrations of power, Sam Shea does the logical thing by making a living out of her special talent. As a photographer on the hunt for hurricanes and the next money shot, taking a shot of at something totally different - such as love – is out of the question. Or so she thinks! Aiden Afflack is a force to be reckoned with, and as soon as the vampire realizes Samantha could pose a crucial instrument on his quest for justice, they suddenly find themselves chasing what is not just a measly storm. To top it off, there’s some serious mutual attraction sweetening the pot.

Let me start off by saying that it’s a brilliant idea to have a tune running through the heroes head in the very beginning. I immediately youtubed it and had it play in the background while reading. It also gave me a first glimpse as to what kind of guy Aiden might be. The first few chapters sucked me in big time. Aiden has a strong sense of justice. You don’t want to mess with him! Well, technically...you do...just in an altogether different way *waggleseyebrows*.

He truly perfected the use of dry humour, and also had a bit of a violent streak. A confident man is such a turn-on, even when he’s a sucker for fang-bangers. Rawwwr! I couldn’t stop grinning like the Cheshire cat. Aiden Afflack is the pnr equivalent to my unhealthy Julian Darcangelo obsession.
No wonder Sam felt overwhelmed by the raw energy Aiden exuded. Their first meeting exceeded my highest expectations. Game, set and match! Like a train wreck, it was terrifying, but neither Sam nor I could look away. Better then sex (or at least pretty close to it).

It was a relief that in terms of her special talent the heroine had one foot in the supernatural door already. Otherwise the leap from experiencing and believing in the paranormal would’ve been too big. As for her personality, I have only good things to tell; praises to sing. She was nosy and didn’t apologize for it, instead hammering Aiden for answers to her many, many questions. Right on, girl! She also cares for people and is willing to do everything to help keeping people from getting hurt. However, deep down, there was a vulnerable core. Wait for her inner dialogue. I could relate to her on several levels and had every confidence in Aiden to be exactly what Sam needed. From the get-go to the end, that never once changed. They were playing cat and mouse, happily ignoring what’s in front of them. Their happily ever after...duh! I squeaked Miss Piggy-style quite often.

Wilson has a serious knack for visual writing! You’ll be completely immersed in it.
I’m excited to tell you that what I didn’t like about the first book in the series wasn’t an issue in this one. At all! I can’t go into details for obvious reasons, but to sum it up: I was happy about how everything turned out for Aiden. The situation he found himself in suited him. His past had a big influence on his present and attitude towards vampirism. Not gonna tell you what happened, but it’s safe to say that I surprised myself with my reaction. A big aspect might’ve been that I admired exactly the same qualities in Sam that Aiden loved. Their rock-solid connection made everything more intense (fun, suspense, sex, ...). Lots of toe curling moments. That goes for the suspense as well. Nightfall topped The Merzetti Effect in this department. It absolutely deserves to be called paranormal romantic suspense.

The only factor that didn’t sit well with me was that while their relationship progressed at a very satisfying pace, the ending to the mystery part of the plot came a bit abrupt. I wasn’t totally convinced that the problem could be solved so easily. The Epilogue helped somewhat, but didn’t reassure me completely.

You need to read this book! I especially recommend it for pnr fans that are also in love with Pamela Clare’s contemporary romantic suspense I-Team series. 4.5 stars to Nightfall by Norah Wilson.

Beware of Spoilers!

A few of my favorite quotes for those of you who are interested:
° “I she could give the fiercest storm a corporeal human body, this is what it would look like. Beauty and violence, all rolled up in one gorgeous, terrible package.”
° “The remote coldness of the stars stretched so indifferently over all that violence below appealed to him.”
° “...he’d be calling for some...uh, room service. Or elevator service or behind-the-counter service or on a desk in the business office service.”
° “Way to tweak the trail of the world’s gigantic tiger when you’re completely at his mercy.”
° “I baited her with the promise of min-blowing sex. Instead, the sex just blew.”

Aiden Afflack is a 200+ yr old vampire who also happens to be a vampire hunter. Samantha ‘Sam’ Shea is a photographer with a gift for more than fantastic weather pictures. Her dreams tell her where weather in its violent beauty will be and she travels to photograph it. Then her path crosses Aiden’s and she starts dreaming of violent vampire attacks. They team up to stop the rogues from preying on humans and that’s when things get interesting.

I loved this story! Aiden is a strong, hot, dangerous, yummy, intelligent, hot (did I mention that?) vampire with a sense of humor who is also a fantastic cook. I want him! Sam is a beautiful, intelligent, independent, spunky mortal with a special talent for finding violence in her dreams, be it weather or vampire.

Loved the characters and writing style, the story flowed smoothly and the sexual tension between the characters was great. I loved that Sam didn’t give in to her lust for Aiden right away. That can be so annoying! I also loved the humor interspersed throughout (the scene with Sam’s leg cramp had me LOL-ing because I’ve so been there!) and the action scenes were paced just right. I hate long action scenes. I hate long descriptive scenes, too. What can I say? I’m an impatient person.

I want more of this world! Impatient, remember? And hungry for more! Bring on the stories for Eli, RJ, Garret and Liss then maybe I’ll be satiated.

I read this book weeks ago and I still think about it. The hero's character arc is shown through pictures and it's beautiful. I'm not sure Norah intentionally did that, but the correlation is beautiful.

This is book two of Norah's "A Vampire Romance" series, so you may want to read The Merzetti Effect first, but it's not required.

Oh! And the first intimate scene and every reference to it thereafter is funny. Authentic. The heroine had me wrapped around her finger after their...first encounter.

My Review:

This is book 2 of Norah Wilson's Vampire romance series and I liked it just as much as I did the first. These are, quite simply, just really good and entertaining books.

Aiden is a hunter of rogue vampires who works for Delano (hero from book #1, The Merzetti Effect.) In this world, there are two types of vampires...normal, nice ones and then those who prey on others for blood, usually killing them. In this vampire world, taking blood from others without their permission is the equivalent of rape. The problems with the rogues is that they not only rape the blood and mind, but they also usually kill their victims. Aiden hunts and disposes of these rogue vampires.

Ainsley is the heroine of this novel. Ainsley is a professional storm photographer. She is especially good at what she does because she is somehow psychically in tune with the violence of storms and has a precognition of when they are going to happen. Through a psychic quirk, they discover that Ainsley's psychic skills also apply to the violence of the rogue vampires. She knows when one is going to strike. Unfortunately, Ainsley has been used for her psychic powers before so she is VERY reluctant to team up with Aiden, but when people are being murdered, her moral compass won't let her say no to helping him.

This is a really powerful book. Aiden chose to become a vampire for the express purpose of hunting rogues. His passion is his work, but that doesn't make the fact that people are dying any easier on him mentally. Ainsley doesn't want to be involved at all, but she is so strong. As these two get to know each other, the beauty of their growing relationship and empathy is really gorgeous. They connect and it is just so perfectly done...for both of their personalities. I loved their love story and did not see how it was going to work out. Again, this was a book that had me gasping out loud when the twists began. Never in my wildest dreams did I see where it was going...whoa! So good!!!

I am always leery when a self-pubbed author contacts me, because let's be honest, there are some not so great self-pubbed books out there. But, OMG, these books by Norah Wilson do NOT fall into that category. These two books are A.MAZ.ING!! They are as good or better as any other published paranormal books out on the market today. They are superbly written with wonderful characters that I simply fell in love with. I can't wait to see where else she goes with this series! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND these books if you love Paranormal Romance!

My Thoughts
This second installment in Wilson’s Vampire Romances series tells the story of Aiden and Sam. This novel could be read out of order, however, The Merzetti Effect (Book #1) does most of the story world building for the series so I recommend reading that one first.

Nightfall may not be as action packed as The Merzetti Effect, however it is first-rate in its own merit. It’s a very well written Paranormal Romance that delivers believable characters, evokes emotion and provides a well-planned backstory. It’s a little on the lighter side of PNR, however it still packs a punch with its steamy passion and the struggles these two lovers have to find a common ground in their relationship.

Hired by Delano Bowen, who we met in The Merzetti Effect, Aiden is one of many vampires who hunt and kill rogue vampires. Sam is a very successful photographer who is psychically drawn to violent phenomena. Normally the violence is weather-related; however recently, she is drawn to violence in the form of vampire attacks.

Thinking her latest vision is sending her to another violent natural occurrence, Sam unwittingly shows up at the site of a vampire attack. Here she meets Aiden who quickly realizes she has a psychic gift that can aid in his mission and he proceeds to convince her to help. They work together as a team to find as many rogue vampires they can and save many victims from death.

Their working relationship quickly escalates to a game of seduction. Aiden is quite a playboy that never allows himself to have a serious relationship. Sam is very independent and focused on her career and not her love life. They are both instantly attracted to each other; however, Sam knows Aiden’s type and tries her best to avoid his advances. After facing life and death situations, they discover more about each other (and themselves) and their relationship grows deeper.

Despite all the hunter’s efforts, the threat of rogue vampires is growing to new levels. The rogues are starting to organize and are working together in packs instead of on their own. I’m interested to see how this will be developed in the series.

Bottom Line
I enjoyed this novel as a follow up to The Merzetti Effect and found the characters to be well developed and the story well delivered. The idea of a larger rogue threat is interesting and I am definitely looking forward to reading more from the Vampire Romances series.

Happy Reading!!

As a vampire, Aiden Afflack is as charming, sexy and easy-going as he is gorgeous. Unless you happen to be a rogue vampire, in which case he’s apt to be the last thing you see. Sam Shea is a wildly successful nature photographer whose prophetic dreams lead her to some of the world’s most turbulent, awe-inspiring weather phenomena. While out on a shoot Sam’s path crosses with that of Aiden and after further investigation it appears that his proximity to Sam warps her psychic power enabling her to hone in on vampire violence instead of violent weather. Aiden knows he’s found a gift in Sam in order to rid the world of rogue vampires - now he only needs to convince Sam to assist him with tracking them down.

*** One thing I can say about reading Norah Wilson - you won’t find her subject matter boring! Especially when she makes her characters come fully to life, even if the those characters just might happen to be the undead! Having read the first book in this series, THE MERZETTI EFFECT, I knew where the gist of the story was heading. Hunter vampires like Aiden, were trying to weed out and stop the Rogue vampires who were killing their victims indiscriminately. When Aiden discovered that Sam Shea was having psychic dreams of where the next rogue attacks were going to happen, he had to convince Sam to help and guide him to wherever her sightings took her.

Wilson did a marvelous job of fleshing out Sam with just the right talents that made her character totally believable. At one time the dreams/visions Sam had were her “heads up” as to where to go to get her world renown photographs of violent weather phenomenons, however with Aiden in her vicinity she was having visions of a different sort. When she accompanied Aiden on his rendezvous to catch the rogue vampires, Sam was convinced to work with him. Unfortunately, and to make life interesting Ms. Wilson had to produce some angst and danger which she did in a most remarkable and creative way when Sam and Aiden were caught in a vicious trap by a gathering of rogues. Suffice it to say, I was amazed at how they got out of that one.

Bottom line: Ms. Wilson has created books that I have been thrilled and excited to read. She grabs me on the first page and doesn’t let go. So if you’re a paranormal fan looking for excitement and some very sensual and steamy love scenes, NIGHTFALL may be just the ticket! AND, if you want Romantic Suspense you just might want to try her Serve and Protect series, which I found to be - Awesome!

This novel centers around, Aiden Afflack. Aiden is Dr. Delano’s most trusted friend and a vampire hunter. We briefly met this sexy, two hundred year old vampire at the end of book one. Wilson delivers an exciting story, filled with danger, romance and some very sizzling love scenes. I was quickly caught up in the tale and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Protagonist Sam Shea is a nature photographer who captures the raw energy of dangerous weather phenomena. In order to capture these weather events, Sam follows her dreams; literally. She will wake up in the middle of the night with a detailed location and time. She immediately write it down and heads there the next evening. One dream leads her to Aiden, and she is captivated by his raw energy. Her next dream leads her to an encounter that will open her eyes to the world of vampires. When a rogue vampire attacks, she witnesses Aiden taking out the vampire. The tale that unfolds is fascinating, quick paced, and action-packed. The romance between Sam and Aiden is hot enough to melt your e-reader. For the delicate reader, be warned some scenes are very detailed and had this reader blushing. I liked Sam and her curious nature and Aiden’s story touched me. Some of the interaction between the two of them had me laughing aloud and I found myself rooting for them.

Will there be more?

This is book 2 of.a 2 book series and I was sad that there isn't a 3rd one. I found this one as engaging and entertaining as the first, although it had a few times when the heroine just needed a good shake.

To see this review and more like it check out my site, Urban Fantasy Reviews, at www.ufreviews.com

I reviewed a book by Norah Wilson, not to long ago, it's actually the first book in this series. It was called The Merzetti Effect, and it was a really cool way of looking into how vampires really exist, as well as a really sweet love story. At the end of the book we are briefly introduced to Aiden, he's going to take care of a problem for the main characters of the last book.

So when this book start, it starts right off with him taking care of the favor as he promised. Making sure the police chief of St. Cloud takes a hike after being a wife beater and general bad guy. Of course it's not as simple as that, there is a photographer who just happened to be watching the outside of the house that night, and stumbles upon Aiden. And then again in the park where she is certain he is attacking another man. Turns out the two of them make a pretty good team.

I have to say I love the writing in Norah WIlson's books. I really enjoyed the first book, so I was completely expecting to enjoy this book as well. Her writing keeps me interested not only in the characters but also in the plot. The writing is smart and paced really well. There was seldom a moment in either of her two books that I have read where I wanted to put it down, in fact it was normally the opposite, I had to know what was going to happen next.

I found the characters to be really interesting and likable. I really enjoyed the characters in her previous book, so I don't know what I was expecting from this book. I think the one thing that I was really happy about is how different these characters were from the ones in the first book. I think if they had been similar I wouldn't have been able to enjoy them as much as I did. I like that Aiden is a strong vampire, with a moral compass, that he is out to make sure that innocent people don't get hurt by rogue vampires. But what I really like was that Sam is a pretty unique character from what we saw in the first book. She has a psychic power, whereas in the last book Ainsley was strong but had no really active powers. So in this book you have not just one supernatural being with Aiden, but also with Sam. I think that it really helps propel this book.

The two main characters, Aiden and Sam are great to watch together. In fact I think they are way more interesting when they are together then when they are apart, they compliment each other really well. They have great chemistry together on top of that, which lets face it is a big part of what makes a paranormal romance good.

The only real complaint I could have about this book was really not a bad thing. There was not as much sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next as their was in the first book. But that being said it was still well paced, and a pretty good book in it's own right.

Overall, I really did enjoy reading this book. I think the series is a really good one, and one that I think most paranormal romance readers will really enjoy. While as of right now, my favorite book in the series is the first one, this book is a worthy follow up and I am very interested in what is going to happen next in the series, who the author decides to write about next. I also believe one of the reason I enjoy this series so much is because I think it appeals to both the paranormal romance fan in me as well as the urban fantasy fan as well. So I think you should give this series a try!

Aiden is a vampire who has made it his mission to kill the rogues among his kind. He is good at what he does; and he takes pleasure where he can find it: like in the arms or the vein a beautiful woman. His hunts take him across the continent, so he has few ties and that’s ok with him. The thing is, it’s not always easy to track his prey. Sometimes he has to hunt them for weeks or months at a time. Until he finds an easier way.

Samantha has just enough of a psychic gift to be drawn to high energy locations. Usually, it’s a powerful storm some other turbulent event in nature. Her dreams help her find the phenomenon, and then she makes her living photographing them. Imagine her surprise when one of her predicted locations leads her not to a storm, but to a dangerous and sexy vampire!

Sam had no idea vamps even existed, but coming face to face with Aiden makes her want to learn more. Soon, more and more of her dream premonitions take her to the scenes of vampire violence, and Aiden can’t help but see the great opportunity that presents. The two end up working together: Sam as a reluctant weather-vein for rouge vamps –and Aiden, the hunter that takes them down. It’s in working together, the two eventually give in their attraction to one another and, later, fall in love.

It took me a little while to connect with story. My biggest issue was with the basic premise. I never felt like I got a good explanation for why Sam’s gift is what it is. I mean, predicting weather events in dreams is kind of… odd. I didn’t really find it all that compelling in the way of psychic ju-ju. Beyond that, why did it suddenly start channeling vampire violence? Yes, apparently Aiden brings out that side of her gift with his proximity, but she lives with a vampire right down the street, so… why didn’t this happen before? I don’t get it. Plus, bad weather and vampire attacks seem like two highly unrelated things to get premonitions about.

However, if you can put that aside, it’s a pretty good romance — one that gets better as the book progresses. We see a lot of growth in Aiden as he falls for Sam. I liked watching him reveal himself to her on a personal level (and my interest was piqued by some of his backstory.) The sexual tension is good; the sex is hot; and I believed in the emotion that drove the development of the relationship. I thought the characters were well drawn, with enough of their history peppered in to make them three dimensional. And the handful of secondary characters were peppered in enough to see the bigger picture that Aiden is a part of.

This is book two in Norah Wilson’s Vampire Romance series, and while references are made to the first book, this stands up completely as a standalone.

Rating: B/B-

Nightfall is the second vampire romance novel by Norah Wilson. Much like the first one, The Merzetti Effect, Nightfall follows a young woman drawn into the vampire underworld.
Samantha "Sam" Shea it's a very successful photographer specializing in extreme weather phenomenon. The key to her success...Sam dreams of these weather events before they happen. However, one night Sam is drawn not to twister or meteorite, but to the presence of a vampire. Turns out being near one morphs her weather visions into visions of rogue vampire attacks.
Aiden Afflack is very good at what he does. But tracking and killing the rogue vamps takes time; time their defenceless victims don't have. But with Sam at his side, Aiden can easily pinpoint the rogues before they move on to the next meal. All he has to do is talk Sam into changing her entire life, not so hard for the sexy, charming Aiden Afflack.
All to soon though, the usually loner rogues band together and Sam and Aiden find themselves in situation that neither one may escape.
This book was great. Now that I've had a chance to read more of Norah Wilson's books, I truly see what a great writer she is. The suspence in Nightfall was off the charts towards the end. I was truly scared for both Aiden and Sam. Also, Wilson has a knack for strong female leads that aren't too perfect. Sam and Ainsley both have believable character flaws on top of a level head and strong backbone. And don't get me started on Delano and Aiden. Both are infuriating and selfish and high-handed. Neither of them give either woman a choice. But they are so charming and fall so deeply in love with the girls..it's hard to not forgive them.
I did have one major problem with this book. I was three quarters of the way done before I felt a true plot coming. Yes, they battle rogue vamps and there is plenty of back and forth in the love department, but I felt very little of a true, core problem that's necessary to a satisfying resolution. And even once I got to that vital issue, the nameless, faceless protagonist is hardly even mentioned. I wanted another Janecek; an adversary great enough to equal Aiden, who is basically an army within himself.
Because of this, I felt the ending fell a bit flat. The love between Aiden and Sam was solidified and there were enough new vampires mentioned for another book ( Hopefully? Yes!?!?), but I didn't put down Nightfall with the gusto that I did of The Merzetti Effect. It won't stop me from reading more of Norah Wilson by any means, I just hope the next book is a bit more climatic.

This is the second book in A Vampire Romance series. I loved it!

Aiden Afflack is a vampire on a mission - to track down rogue vampires. He is a fantastic character. He is very strong, fast and extremely dangerous. He is also very confident, which borders on arrogant. We briefly met him near the end of The Merzetti Effect. He intrigued me (and scared me!) then, but this is his story, and I must admit that he has become a serious book crush! He's seriously HOT! ;)

Samantha Shea (she prefers Sam) is a fantastic character too. She is a feisty and stubborn woman, who happens to be an amazing nature photographer. She seems to have the ability to sense when a weather event is about to happen. When she stumbles on Aiden during one of his missions, sparks fly!

This is a fantastic paranormal romance novel! I think I liked this book a lot more than The Merzetti Effect; Maybe it's because I didn't like what Delano did to Ainsley. Anyway, this book seriously caught and held my attention from the first page. There is a lot of danger in the form of the rogues. They are definitely nasty! I wouldn't want to meet those vampires! The story is a slight continuation of The Merzetti Effect, and Delano, Ainsley and Eli make an appearance. However, it is the romance of Aiden and Sam that steams up the pages! It is told from both of their perspectives, and is a roller coaster ride from start to finish. I don't know why ladies (me included) always go for the "bad boys" in books. Maybe it's because they appeal to our more primitive brain? Maybe it's because they're not really "bad boys" as such, but very decisive and take charge types, who know what they want.
Aiden Afflack is definitely one of those types, and I think that he and Sam make a great couple. I hope that there will be a new story in this series soon!

Norah Wilson has written a fast paced, steamy paranormal romance that had my heart racing for many different reasons! I do not recommend this book to younger readers due to the sensual nature of some of the scenes. I do, however, recommend this book (and series) if you love steamy paranormal romances with sexy vampires! - Lynn Worton

A guilty pleasure and a steamy romance!

Having enjoyed "The Merzetti Effect," I recently indulged in a guilty pleasure. I read the sequel, "Nightfall," and enjoyed every minute! Norah Wilson is such a talented writer that her readers are never disappointed. This book stands on its own, giving the reader enough information about the previous story to satisfy, but not spoiling the read if you choose to go back and read the first novel. They are both that good!

Anyone who relishes a good "vampire" love story will enjoy reading about the sexy vampire, Aiden Afflack. As a vampire Aiden indulges in "consensual" feeding during sex, but he's also a successful vampire hunter--out to stop rogue vampires from killing innocent victims. When Sam Shea photographs a real vampire attack, she's thrust into a deadly battle between vampires. Sam's a psychic whose vivid dreams lead her to dangerous places before an event takes place. She makes her living capturing dramatic shots of lightning and twisters. Suddenly her dreams direct her to the sites of vampire attacks. Aiden believes she could lead him to victims before an attack, and he's determined to stop deadly predators. Will Sam risk her life to save innocents? Does she dare trust Aiden, an admitted vampire who makes her blood tingle? She's curious and tempted by the attraction, but she's cautious.

If you're tired of gory vampire stories and relish a steamy romance, you must read this book. There's plenty of suspense and danger, but Sam's not a delicate damsel in distress. She's gutsy and smart. Aiden is not a weak-willed parasite who feeds on society; he deliberately decided to become a vampire to gain the strength to kill them. Together Sam and Aiden could become a team that strikes fear in their enemies. Can they escape the group of evil vampires who decide to track them down? Read this book and enjoy a guilty pleasure of your own. You won't be sorry.

I've read a bunch of books in the paranormal/vampire genre...it's one of my guilty pleasures. I loved that Norah Wilson did something new with this series. I started with the Merzetti Effect and immediately bought this book as soon as it ended.

Ms. Wilson has actually created several new twists to the notion of the vampire "virus". Although there is the usual perfect (and of course filthy rich) male vampire and captivating human female specimens, the characters actually have a lot of depth. I liked them!

In both books it's obvious that she took the time to do research on some specific topics. In Nightfall it is photography and in Merzetti it is medical. The books aren't a clone of each other and stand alone very well, but they do tie together with characters from the first book making an appearance in Nightfall.

I thoroughly enjoyed the romance and the intense action. Normally I flip through the more lusty scenes in these types of novels, but I found myself interested in those details for a change. ;).

I looks like there are only two books in the series and I recommend both! I hope she comes out with another one - I'd buy it!

Well, in all honesty, I joined goodreads by following Norah Wilson, at the end of "Nightfall", and Im so glad I did!
I, however, wont review the story-as its been done...over and over. But, if your a sucker for a hot vampire (and who aint?!?), a smart, easy to like, strong female, and a romance hot enough to warp my Nook screen...this books for you!
I have, geesh, more than 100+ Nookbooks on Paranormal Romance, and Nightfall is in my Top 5 of favs! Its refreshingly different. Thank God!
So. Thank you Ms Norah for breathing new life into one of favorite genre's! Also, I read Nightfall without reading book #1, and didnt feel lost in the slightest! But I WILL be purchasing it. And soon!

I read this as part of collector - Last Hero Standing, I believe was the collection.

I had previously not read the author before. I believe this might actually be book two in a series. I don't believe that I missed anything by starting this without having read the first.

I did not get sucked into this world. I was constantly thinking - how much further? I even skimmed through several chapters.

The quality of writing was not at fault. I just didn't get enthralled with either character. I'm sure many people would like it.

But it just wasn't for me.

I read this as part of the Last Hero Standing collection.

I have never been a fan of the vampire world, and I avoid them in general. That said, this was a very good erotic thriller with strong characters acting mostly normal. As always the alpha wants to shelter the heroine, but she comes through loud and strong.

I'm going to read the first book in this series, but I probably won't dive into the entire universe of vamp books.

Anyone who loves a good vampire romance story this is it. The story kept my interest from the fisrt chapter. Aidan is a hot vampire hunter and Samantha is a psychic who photographs him during a hunt. The tension between them is amazing. Norah Wilson never fails to deliever a good story you can't go wrong with any of her books.

A bit of a fast wrap up of the storyline(don't want to give any spoilers), but a very enjoyable read. Like able characters, tiny tie in with the previous book, would be willing to read more based on this premise and foundation of the main plot that ran between the 2 books so far

Loved the book but have to admit I was surprised by the chain of events...especially with Aiden! I really loved the mature feel of the conversations between Sam and Aiden...no silly beetling around the bush stuff.

After reading the first book, which was terrific, I had to get the second one. I loved it as much as the first

The. problem (and it is a serious one) is...there doesn't seem to be a third. What's up with that? It could be detrimental to my health to be left adrift.
