Nice little short story (52 pages in Word). It remembered me how much I loved Falls Chance Ranch series and all its characters.

One can summarize this story by saying that Dale hold a business meeting for A.N.Z. in Philip's former conference room above the garage at Falls Chance Ranch.

Here are some excerpts:
After asking Dale to go get his journal, Flynn said:
“Take a seat. How are you doing?
‘Fine’ was not a word that would go down well. Dale sat down on the bucket.
“I plead the fifth.” Dale answered.
lollll

Then Flynn asked Dale to write an essay on the worst possible case that could happened. Dale rebelled, but thought:
“Quod Flynn locuta est. Causa finita est.”
:D

After Dale dropped his meal on the ground outside for the dogs to eat it:
“You might want to look at this,” Jasper said. Riley came out of the kitchen and warily, Paul leaned with him and Flynn on the railing. The dogs were playing with several sandwiches and a quiche, which they clearly realized they were supposed to eat but couldn’t quite bring themselves to do.

I couldn’t help but laugh at this part of the story.

I still love Flynn and Dale. I know pretty well that in reality, two so strong personalities would confront much more than they do in these stories (Falls Chance Ranch series). And it could mean the end of their relationship. Is it what happened between Rolf and Ranger? Is it the reason of the end of this excellent series?

I also love all the other characters. Paul makes me think of one of my aunts. I have no uncle with a personality close to Paul’s. But my aunt Rolande was that kind of warm and enveloping person.

Jasper remember me of a Montagnais (an autochthon of Lake St. John) I met. Always seemingly so calm, until something real wrong happened. Then he went in warrior’s mode. Happily, he didn't need to go in warrior mode often.

And Riley… Nearly too much heart, nerves and playfulness for only one young man. ;)

That’s one of the things that were good in this series. All the characters are believable, realistic. Each one has his own personality, very different from the others’ and their interactions are interesting and fun.

Alternate title: "The Brig, or that one day Dale got super horny and extremely annoyed by a purple shirt, all while managing a bunch of angry CEOs with a wave of his little finger."

Content warnings: destruction and inappropriate use of a cake, general disrespect towards Paul's delicious cooking.

This was great! One of my favorite of the FCR short stories because we get to see Dale in his stride -- I love seeing the competent Ice Man get pulled out of an important meeting for his spanking ;) Plus, it's nice seeing Dale get to live his life the way he wants and still be a competent businessman.

OK! I didn't cry reading this short story, but boy, did I laugh. Dale in executive mode at home on the Ranch with the previously un-written about conference room.
Great story, great to see the Ranchers again.
